So, providing no new injuries tonight, it looks like the opening night roster would have everyone in it except Kesserling and UPL.

The new guy acquired to stabilize the blue-line and the guy who plays probably the single most important position in the sport missing isn't good, but at least it seems to look good for everyone else.

This is really too bad, hopefully the week off for Kesserling is good for him

upl I think we all sorta came to the conclusion he would miss a bit of time when Georgiev was sidelined

Byeam Power Benson Greenway all good to go is awesome

but Kesserling man that hurts, he was the off season acquisition, need him healthy asap

Just because they are skating doesn't mean they are good to go for opening night.  Samuelsson was designated as week to week for a reason.  Hopefully they'll all be in the lineup opening night, but don't count on it.

No Samuelsson either

It's a tough call.  I don't like when players are rushed back too soon from injury and it lingers, and maybe never fully heals during the season.  On the other hand, this Sabres team will struggle to succeed without their supposed #1 goalie and 3 or 4 of their top 6 defensemen and this team absolutely cannot afford a poor start to the season.  They're just not good enough to dig themselves out of a hole.

It's too early to judge whether all of these injuries are a) freak, largely unpreventable occurrences that have all, by chance, happened around the same time; b) the team being extra-cautious and not rushing guys back that are dinged up but able to play; or c) a failure of the new strength and conditioning program.  Let's hope it's a) or b) and not c).

I don't think Greenway is "good to go".

What about Greenway?

I guess Greenway also. I just don't think he is too hard to replace.  The drop-off from greenway to whoever replaces him, IMO, isn't all that significant.

If it’s Geertsen, it is significant . Greenway can give you PK time and experienced defensive play against the league’s top lines. Geertsen can give you 5 minutes of 2 hits, a fight if anyone is willing that night, and otherwise you try to hide from the opponent’s top 9. His next NHL point will be his first.

This, but also the pool of defensively responsible 25-point wingers who are also 6’5” 230 and kill penalties isn’t big.

As brittle as he may be, there are a lot of teams looking for a Greenway.

I think if Greenway is in the lineup, its not on the 4th line. If Geersten is, it is on the 4th line. Big difference in minutes played.  Any 'greenway' replacement for usage will be someone else.

No it's not. It's Danforth or Doan, depending on how you look at it.
