I don't find Nashville getting Haula for cheap as weird. He'd be a bottom 6 upgrade here. Why not get him for next to nothing if you have the cap room? Flip him later if you want. He's a utilitarian player.

Heavy game from what I remember, no idea about his 2way effectiveness. I've seen some Sens reporters putting him with Cozens and Batherson in mock lineups.

Remember liking his game watching him play against the Amerks with Utah.

He's two years older and this is his 3rd contract, buying one UFA year, but statistically he's a Jack Quinn comparable.

They think he's a Marcus Foligno type. And he's had some glimpses of good production on a 3rd line.

With some of their older contracts off the books this summer (Perry, Kapanen, Brown) he will have a solid spot in the middle 6. Statistically, he could make it a good deal for at least 5 of the next 8 seasons.

They're following the Tampa way with the oddly long-term Nicholas Paul and Yanni Gourde deals. (Or the Muel...)

That Ryan Donato contract seems favourable for the McLeod talks.

He's older an was a pending UFA, so it's not a direct comparable.

But as career 3rd-line centre who suddenly broke out, its something.

JJP won't given them that though,

Depends.  They could give him a 3 year bridge and STILL have his rights for 1 additional year at the end of that to give him a LT deal.  That would end up cheaper for each of the next 3 seasons than Robertson will be.

You'd still be stuck with a disgruntled player though so it's a bad situation. One that they have created themselves but a reality all the same. I honestly don't know how you get out of it with constant half measures. It does seem to repeat.

Not the Sabres giving him the bridge, the Stars giving him the bridge.  The OP didn't see where bringing in Peterka saves Dallas any money.
