dudacek Posted 13 hours ago Author Report Posted 13 hours ago (edited) Here is the roster situation for an alleged Byram suitor, with him allegedly looking for a $7M deal. Blues are a $1M over the cap, and a full roster. They are actually 2 players over and looking to create roster space for rookies Snuggerud and Dalibovsky. Jake Neighbours is someone the Sabres would be interested in, but some kind of big contract would also have to go. They’d almost certainly prefer to dump Falk or Leddy to clear space. Fowler, who was very good for them but is a UFA next summer, makes more sense for the Sabres. Brayden Schenn was also on the market and would fill a short-term hole for Buffalo. A better target for the Sabres is Parayko, but the Blues are weak at RD, so that’s probably a non-starter. The Kyrou ship has passed. He has full trade protection along with the Blues other top forwards. Would the Sabres do something purely short-term by building a deal around Fowler or Schenn, if either would accept a trade? Would they take as little as Neighbours and a pick? To me the best case scenario might be that the Blues primary goal is to get younger. They have 1 LD under 30 and that might make them more willing to deal Parayko,a 32-year-old RHD. Maybe the Mailloux deal this morning for Bolduc was a move to get another RHD in the system to insulate moving him out? More likely, they decided to address that issue, at least for this season, solely with the Mailloux trade. Seems like a tough match here to me. Edited 13 hours ago by dudacek 1 1 2 Quote

You’re not beating that hanging on to to Andersson until the deadline, Vegas isn’t giving you that and Andersson’s not helping you out by signing anywhere but Vegas. Maybe the Sabres get another 1st for Andersson at the deadline, maybe they ride him into the playoffs. Not sure they’re going to get a better player for this season than Andersson in a Byram deal. And is term that important if only going to be for a guy like Cam York. Quote
Mr. MVP Posted 13 hours ago Report Posted 13 hours ago (edited) What about Kings? My wishful thinking dream scenario has Byfield coming back. Someone put me out of my misery and tell me there’s no way that’s happening. Edited 13 hours ago by Mr. MVP 1 Quote

Someone put me out of my misery and tell me there’s no way that’s happening. Byfield is their only young forward with top 6 potential, they don’t want to give him up. The Kings also signed two D this morning. Doubt they are adding a 3rd. I suspect they’re out on Byram. Quote

If he’s moved, I’m thinking it’s a team not mentioned. im keeping an eye 👁️ n the Ehlers situation. I wonder if the Sabres have approached and he’s waiting to see what they do with the byram situation, but I’m just spifballing. Quote

I don’t know if it’s tied at all to Byram, but I suspect the SAbres have legit interest in Ehlers and probably made a pitch: they have the roster fit and they have money. But I suspect other teams have more money and/or better fits. I think in terms pipe dreams, we have a better chance with Robertson if that one is real. Dallas has been quiet and we have the picks and prospects. Edited 13 hours ago by dudacek Quote
JohnC Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago If the Sabres are not going to retrieve a top 6 forward from a Bryan trade, then just keep him. With him, our blue line would be a quality unit with an offensive bent. The hope will be that players such as Quinn, Kulich and Benson improve to compensate for the loss of Peterka. This franchise created a toxic reputation that has foreclosed a lot of player options. So if you can’t get a fair value back in a deal, then accept that ugly reality and work with what you got and do your best to maximize it. 1 2 1 Quote

North Buffalo Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago See if Helenius is ready... and try out Östlund too get some of the young guys up for more tryout time... maybe not at the same time but who knows. Quote
North Buffalo Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago PS i am not opposed to resigning Byrum unless Sabres can trade for a top 6 forward possibly plus 1st or high 2nd round draft pick.. depends on player coming back. Quote
LGR4GM Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago So about 7.5 million on an 8yr deal for Byram if signed. Good to know. 11 minutes ago, North Buffalo said: See if Helenius is ready... and try out Östlund too get some of the young guys up for more tryout time... maybe not at the same time but who knows. kas23 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago What the Sabres should do is spin the Sabres Embedded series into a full blown reality TV show. Unedited. Adams just striking out on all these trades and banging his head against the wall. Would be very entertaining. Quote

Scottysabres Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago At this point keep him, sign Ehler’s, let the rookies in Rochester battle for a spot and for god sakes Adams, get Benson on a ribeye and pasta regimen. Let’s roll!!! Quote

I'm not gonna say byram is not worth 7m on the open market...but he's not worth 7m on this team based on what we already have wrapped up financially on D. Quote

Jeremy white has dropped some early trades before I’d be 100 percent on board with risking Anderson, you could pair him with Dahlin and I think you could get him to resign Pospisil would be a very nice add, Zary is also really underrated, undersized but a really good player Calgary has always made sense to me, the need a Byram bad and could easily afford to extend him 1 Quote

Something around Rasmus Andersen and Pospisil for Byram. See if a year with Dahlin changes his mind or if not move him at the deadline. 1 Quote
