I've ranted here before about Forton's bona fides, such as they are.

Such a weird mixture of cronyism and poverty franchise operations.

I doubt it, because the issue remains that Adams is the person who listens to Pegula. He's still involved even if he's inept, unless the new person can somehow build up that rapport that Adams nurtured with Pegula over the course of 15 years now.

This is wildly infuriating for a million reasons.

 

I'm so sick of these USA hockey guys. As a guy who was on the senior team for team USA and lived at the Olympic training center for my sport, these u19 coaches or whatever are not any good. They aren't winning national championships. They aren't good enough to be assistants at the collegiate level. No way they ever coach a u23 national team. 

They're only there for feels. They're there to run programs that generate revenue not actually develope athletes/win meaningful games.

You'll notice often in a lot of sports that the governing body has these full time junior coaches but when it comes time to send a junior team to a world championship the NGB selects totally different coaches. The full time junior coaches are tier 3 or 4.

But on the other hand this could be good. Could it be a transition from coaching to scouting? Pro scout is likely a better role and career path for somebody like that.

Agreed. This isn't the PIP. He was already on a PIP, and his presentation about the results. He passed. He's off of it now.

I wonder if all this was part of Adams' talk with Dahlin on the direction of the team at thend of the season. I wonder what Dahlin will think when these moves come to pass and it's just Adams and a cadre of friends and USNTDP guys. I wonder what Dahlin thought of Staal's efforts as a teammate.

Depends on the depths of their conversation. If Adams told him: I'll get a goalie, a RHD for Power, and a top-6 forward with experience and Dahlin says, "Yup, that's what we need," then I don't worry about it. 

The problem is that when Adams sells that as Levi, JBD, and Norris come September, while playing the Palm Tree & Taxes card, does Dahlin finally say, "Trade me." like the many captains before him?

I do hope that Dahlin asks out, the draft picks don't sign and we legit have 13 fans in the arena on game nights for the foreseeable future. 

This is the most unorganized Cluster of an organization I've seen in a professional sense. 

Wonder if anything would be different if Kim didn't have her health issues.

If I'm an RFA, I'm signing a 1-year offer sheet or going to arbitration. I try to get to UFA as quickly as possible or show through my signings that I should be traded, because I don't want to wait until Power is 26 years old. My career could be crushed by injuries and over by then.

These potential moves make no sense.  Why would Appert have more of a role internally?  What are his qualifications?  His record as head coach at RPI was poor and I have no idea why he has been considered to be the likely candidate to replace Ruff when Ruff retires.  My sense from the board was that Karmanos had the requisite experience to be the GM (and has done a good job with the Amerks) and now he is leaving?  Retaining an experienced advisor for Adams after five years of Adams as GM?  Having him report to Adams and not Pegula?  Individually and collectively, none of this can be made sense of.

I'd probably maximize the earnings and trade a year of UFA to get paid more now... its not like the checks aren't clearing.  Y'all are way too personal, and RFA's have like no negotiating legs to get out of the contract.  Embrace the suck while you have to, then figure it out after.
