Is this a message that they don’t think Rousek or any of the other prospects are ready to contribute? What does this mean for Jost? Honestly I was hoping for a move or two to strengthen the 4th line and to help the PK. Is adding defense and goaltending now the only priority? But even if 1 of the 2 gray beards weren't brought back, they were going to go with close to what they had up front next year anyway. Keep Jost, Trade VO, and add Rousek to the roster and I'm good. There is something to be said for consistency with teammates and systems that leads to improvement year over year. Just as Eichel wasn't a good playoff player until he was. It's possible to be a good player on a bad team and for a bad franchise. Skinner also fits into this mold. But if you're a not-so-great player on a good team, you likely don't stick around (Leino on Detroit, and then again on Philly).
