Yet if we review things, they aren't always good or even in the conversation. Clearly the advantage is highly limited if at all. 5 of 20 teams from low income or no income tax states. Again, if this were a real advantage why don't we see it more and why is it that half of the teams from those low income states continually suck. Coyotes, Panthers, Dallas has only been good once through this. But no team, no matter the financial advantages they have are good all the time. How many states in the US have no income tax? How many of those states have NHL franchises? The Coyotes and Panthers have been bad because they have poor fanbases with low attendance causing them to have internal budgets/Caps. Having a salary cap in the NHL helps to limit any advantage they may gain because theres only so much that can be spent. The advantage is supposed to be that players will take less then other places to play there because they end up making the same or more because they aren't paying as much in taxes. Where I can see the advantage is 50% of their games are at home. 50% of games at 0%in Fla as compared to 50% at NY tax rate could be significant. So again, advantage is minimal. I think the advantage between the states and the provinces is more interesting.

I do agree that there is a greater advantage in teams whos revenue is in Canadian or American funds, but its also a big advantage to attract players when you can get them slightly lower because they don't have to pay income tax on a large portion of their salary
Thorny
Burke thinks there are going to be two offer sheets, at least one to a player on Tampa. Won't be us (Jimmy) but something to keep and eye on. Edited October 9, 2020 by Thorny
