True have me a whole article on it. To summarize it briefly, you get the puck back, score more, are scored on less, and have better chances carrying the puck in, by about a 3:1 ratio IIRC. Looks like they're in survival mode to me; no sooner do they gain possesion in their zone and then dump it out into the neutral zone just to have Detroit grab up the puck.
