  1. Meh.
  2. FTFY.
  3. Oilers would probably take him. ...waive him immediately!
  4. Not sure how this bodes for the tank. Pretty sure this doesn't improve EDM in the short term; Perron was 4th in points behind RNH, Hall, and Eberle.
  5. I got a chance to check this out before the Islanders game, as well as the rinks inside Harbor Center. Outdoors, it's a great use of public space with nice amenities and plenty of room for vendors and food trucks. Indoors is a great venue for a rockin' college game, and the way that it's built, that little rink is going to get LOUD. Should be tons of fun for generations and I look forward to a time that I may enjoy it more consistently.
  6. When money's tight, even a little bit helps.
  7. Coming home for 12ish days to eat my weight in Mighty Taco, throw my nephews around in the snow, and maybe catch that Islanders game. Definitely looking forward to it.
  8. Seems like the right timing for that, although it's weird that they said they'd wait until the end of the year to hire...?
  9. I voted once. Enzo is making a great case to make the team. Latvians are making an outstanding case for Zemgus to make the team. Myers is playing well enough, but may not get the votes or the league selection.
  10. It definitely would be, but the league wouldn't let us win the lottery even if we had all of the lottery picks.
  11. I agree. A bad defense makes a team and its goaltenders look baaad, maybe worse than they actually are.
  12. Aw lawd.
  13. Maybe now they get the "new coach spark." Although. I saw Eakins as probably the fourth biggest problem on that team after no defense, no goaltending, and no GM to fix those two.
  14. I believe it. I'm not in any sort of fervent hockey market here in LA/Anaheim, but nobody here really knows who they are, and I'm constantly explaining to people why I'm ok with the Sabres losing (preferably on the road against teams we don't hate). It's possible that no other franchise fanbase is looking closer and McDavid and Eichel than we are. Maybe Edmonton. Maybe. Most of us on this board knew who McDavid was more than 18 months ago. I think the average Sabres fan probably knew about him by the end of last season. How many everyday sports fans know the kid they want in the draft 16 months beforehand?
  15. He's taking the easy way. Your median everyday league-wide (not specifically Sabres) casual fan probably doesn't know who who Connor McDavid is (although many fans do), so it's still an incredibly defendable position to rant about how we should win because "it's the right thing to do," blah blah blah. And I don't care. I think to help maintain the professional relationships he has with players and coaches (and maybe GMs), he has to "fight the good fight." Hell, he may even like the idea of tanking, but realizes that he should publicly shill the opposite for the sake of the team in the eyes of the league.
  16. OH THE FEELSMANITY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fmHCNfowbQ
  17. Imagine for a moment how ###### another team has to be to beat us cleanly out of 30th. They're going to have a whole lot more problems than we will trying to get themselves out of that.
  18. Hate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgyDMJSb2dc It's not the same franchise without him.
  19. Reasonable. Ideally, each of these three guys develops into a top-pair-level D on a contending-level or SC-winning team defense corps. That's why we drafted them, and eventually, that's the job we expect of them. That said, even if Zad and Risto develop properly, why even let a well-playing Myers go unless we get into Salary Cap issues? It'd be great to have the depth, if affordable, to prevent such history-changing plights as The Case of the Stinky Leg.
  20. Still not even mad. The misusage of the image fuels the troll of the text. It's subtly very good, intentional or not. (To which I responded with "Condescending Wonka.")
  21. Myers played a great game last night. It wasn't flashy, but he did a lot of things right and made a lot of good, simple plays in his own end. These are the sorts of quiet, steady nights you need and expect from a top-two D in one goal games.
