  1. That's a good piece of Sabres trivia. Only current Sabres player to play with Hasek.
  2. Just a couple, because I don't have the time. From 1992 to 2001, NINE YEARS, he crushed the rest of the league with Buffalo. SIX of those years, he won the Vezina, which, by definition, made him "adjudged to be the best at this position." Since '82, when this criteria for the Vezina was adopted, he's won it more than any other goaltender (Brodeur with 4, Roy with 3). He was the first and only goalie to win the Hart Trophy TWICE, both times with Buffalo. In '98, he carried the Czechs to a gold medal in Nagano. That was fun as hell to watch. He was an early master of the butterfly technique, but really elevated the position so much more with his distinctive and innovative improvisation and determination. This not only made him a truly dominant force on the ice and a major contributor to the sport, but also a player that was fascinating and hilariously fun to watch on a nightly basis. Articles detailing his routine shutdown of opponents, like "Dominator Does His Thing Again," were commonplace. He was a major part of a very competitive Sabres team, he gave the team a chance to win every night he laced them up, his dominance intimidated opponents, he brought home a lot of hardware, and he was a hell of a lot of fun to watch.
  3. Best hit of last night, maybe last week: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8mTH0IPb7Q Just good, clean demolishment of a guy who's caught head down and shooting across his body. Good reasons why is in Norris conversations.
  4. A friend picked up free tickets, so I went to the Kings game in Sabres gear last night to boo the Leafs. I photobombed a lot of Leafs fans' group photos. Good times.
  5. I know why. Rex 'Tater Salad' Ryan? Rex 'Tater Salad' Ryan.
  6. It can't be that long.
  7. Shouldn't be too far.
  8. Exactly my reaction.
  9. I wasn't really in the mood to agree with you, but then I saw this today on Facebook. He's back.
  10. It probably isn't that far.
  11. That's gotta be all Boudreau.
  12. Time to go to crush depth.
  13. That's a good thing to notice. Not only are the kids not done growing (even Myers grew more than an inch since being drafted), the training regiments, coaching pressures, and lifestyles change so drastically from juniors to pro that it's no wonder that they considerably change physically, mentally, and emotionally. And it understandably takes time. The best thing to do for Samson, and really all of the kids, is compare him to his peers. He wrecked it at the WJC. And Risto and Zad, compared with many first rounders from 2013, are ripping it up pretty good.
  14. Edmonton beats Chicago.
  15. Not Corsi, but shots: As of 42 GP, we're at exactly -500 shot differential (1477 SF, 977 SA). I think we'll beat -1000 by season's end.

  20. This doesn't look like an All Star Game to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aeoFvtM8OQ That said, I don't think fighting would be a necessary component for a women's league to be successful. It'd just need to be good, intense, high-effort hockey to be entertaining. It's already shown to be reasonably successful in Olympic Women's Hockey and D1 Women's Hockey. A women's team could easily fill the Harbor Center. I watched the lady Badgers all the time under Mark Johnson and I had an excellent time- they were often Saturday and Sunday afternoon games and it was definitely a family-friendly environment that was great (and cheap) for kids -especially young women and girls- to come watch. Buffalo Broadswords?
  21. Trade Baitholomew Stafford Lil Tradey.
  22. Kessel to reporter: "You think it's my fault?"
  23. Still funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L98nJssWekY
