And that's not even how that meme works.

Population of Lativa: 2.03M. 800k+ votes is really pretty good, even considering multiple votes, etc.

Speak for yourself, I'm as hard as a rock right now.

Huh. Jack Adams finalist in '12, Jack Adams in '13. Three year extension in '13. 11-11-5 so far this season. No word on his lookalike. Maybe this season was an abbreviated wait and see on MacLean before they presumably go talk to Bylsma?

This ignorance of this statement disgusts me. You only see what you want to see and that's why I have given up on you on this topic. I am not alone.

The experience of being a Sabres fan wouldn't be the same without RJ. He's been with the team since '71. He's traveled with the team just about that entire time. I recognize athletic ability, but Rick's a Hall of Famer with god-given talent and a franchise-defining career for a very good reason. To me, he's a Sabre. And to me, I favor him at least as much as anyone with their name in the rafters. When I think about watching or listening to a Sabres game, I can't not think about RJ's voice, and that's something I can't say about any other anything.

Brace yourselves. We're dead last in goals scored per game- 27% fewer goals per game (1.59) than the next lowest team (2.18). We're 25th in goals against per game. Our 5-on-5 GF/GA is worst in the league. Our goal differential is league worst. Our home goal differential is 2nd worst at -9. Our road goal differential is phenomenally bad at-30. Our powerplay percentage is by far the worst in the league at 6%. Next lowest is 11%. We're 3rd in PIM committed per game. We lead the league in major penalties. We're 9th in minor penalties. Our penalty killing percentage is 23rd at 78.1%. We're dead last in shots for per game. We're dead last in shots against per game. We're dead last in winning percentage when the opponent scores first - 6.3%. We're dead last in faceoff percentage at 42.2%, fwiw. We have the most regulation losses in the league.

I love that our franchise history has this chapter of play-to-win, historical precedent-setting, human-liberating cloak and dagger in it. We freed a human being from the clutches of the Soviet Empire at the risk of hard labor (read: death) not only because he would make the team better (for a long time), but because it was the right thing to do.

A lot of fan bases have jobbed or will job the All Star vote. Why not Zoidberg?

Science thread! Woo! Let's get it started with how everything got started: Bits I always thought were interesting: Light as we know it didn't appear until about 300,000 years after the big bang, when electrons and protons finally cool down enough to combine into atoms. The first planets didn't really form until 1-15 billion years after the big bang, once the first stars started to die.

http://www.si.com/college-football/2014/11/28/buffalo-bulls-hire-lance-leipold-head-coach UB hires Lance Leipold. He was an assistant under Barry Alvarez at Wisconsin for the Rose Bowl win in '93 before he started his impressive DIII career. He just needs help recruiting, but could be a good signing.

Seems like it sometimes.

I don't really wanna pick this apart, but I'm gonna. Sure it will. Those guys are playing in Rochester for a reason- they need to develop. Those kids will eventually be good, but they're not going to contribute much in the short term to the big club, and yes, that means they'd be worse than Meszaros. I agree, but no amount of coaching motivation is going to make Armia elevate his talent to score in the NHL or give McCabe instantly better vision, not right away. I disagree. I think our basement is much deeper than those teams, should Murray choose to delve there. Of course we won't trade both, that'd hurt the franchise long term by taking a huge gamble on the unlikely ability to acquire a franchise goalie via trade or an even more unlikely UFA signing. I'm not convinced. I think Murray could gut this team easily. He traded the captain, leading scorer, and franchise goaltender of this team, in the face of PLF, without batting eye. I think most of Edmonton's problems stem from major holes at defense, which makes their average goalies look really, really bad. But more importantly to this conversation: you can't have it both ways. You can't be guaranteeing Edmonton's improvement while simultaneously declaring their total demise. Each of these basement teams has a choice to make: tank or try to win games. We're in tank mode. Does MacT lose his job to secure the draft picks? Columbus is so badly injured right now that they're likely to bounce back- I don't think Kekalainen wants to tank. In Philly, the press is already outraged and, in all likelihood, Crag Berube will be out. They'll hire up (Bylsma?), and could get themselves out of trouble.

Heh, his point was that in order to stay competitive, every team in the NHL tries to find ways to add elite talent in addition to the draft, because many won't be able to do it through the draft. The problem isn't unique to us, nor is any attempt at a solution to said problem.

In the land of the 19 year old defensemen, the 30 year old defenseman is king.

Trade the UFAs. Maybe also send good guys back to Rochester (but I think this is less likely).
