    RFAs

I expect Murray to make a run at one maybe two of the pending RFAs this summer (offer sheet or more likely via trade). some top RFAs... Dougie Hamilton* Tanner Pearson* Tyler Toffoli* Martin Jones* Brandon Saad* Derek Stepan Alex Galchenyuk* Nazeem Kadri Gustav Nyquist Vladimir Tarasenko Jake Allen Braden Holtby Michael Del Zotto* Yannick Weber* *- teams up against the cap RFA compensation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offer_sheet#Compensation
  2. I see a line of Girgensons between Kane and Foligno. And Eichel with Ennis and Moulson. Unless another vet top 6 forward comes in here I seen Moulson shepherding Eichel through his first NHL season, and Kane with Girgensons and Foligno could score 25.
  3. A goalie to consider is Anders Nilsson.... http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=120937 ..he put up stellar numbers in the KHL last season, and stands 6'05" 220lbs. However his rights belong to the Blackhawks (as part of the Nick Leddy trade).
  4. They're still a bottom 5 team. The good news is that the teardown is over. It's all about improvement now. Young, new coach, no goaltending.
  5. Last I heard, both Eichel and McDavid will be skipping the combine.
  6. 1. Yes. Eichel is face of USA Hockey going forward. 2. DB 3. 4 4. 0% 5. Battista
  7. Interesting, so it sounds like he didn't want to put the effort into qualifying scholastically for college. Red flag?
  8. The idea that BUF has to give up a pick to a team that fired the coach is absolutely ridiculous. How can that be allowed?
  9. @RumorBreak: #BREAKING - Dan Bylsma and the Sabres have agreed to terms that would make him the next head coach of the Buffalo Sabres.
  10. Due diligence. There's no rush here, let the man take his time, discuss with his family and employer, etc... He knows what HE wants already, but until he is 100% sure (after talking with family and employer) he is not going to make his decision public. The longer this drags on, the less likely it is to me that he stays with the Wings. Based on everything he's said, it sounds like he's sincerely conflicted, but is leaning toward leaving Detroit. Family is important to him, so he wants to make sure his family is on board, and also that he'll be well compensated to secure the financial future of his loved one's.
  11. Don't mess with the nets, but the goalie equipment needs to be much much smaller without sacrificing protection. Glove, blocker, leg pads should be narrower and shorter above the knee. The amount of pad sticking out above the knee is ridiculous these days due to the butterfly style. Also put restriction on chest protector and pant width. There is no restriction on the size of those, which is just plain stupid. They can still be the same material and same thickness to provide the same protection. Not sure how you would regulate that tho. NHL would need to work closely with equipment manufacturers to create an NHL certified line of equipment. Same can be said for players shin pads, making them narrower would make it harder to block shots.
  12. His style of play is exactly what Buffalo is lacking. Hopefully he rubs off on some of the other younger players. That's the thing about great players, they make everybody else better.
  13. Any word on Fasching? I don't see any of other college draftees leaving school yet...
  14. The best American players are still in the NHL playoffs (Parise, Suter, Kane, Carlson, Fowler, Kesler, Tyler Johnson, Orpik, Callahan, Pacioretty, etc..). Stange to see so many great Canadian players already bounced from the playoffs.

    PENALTIES

They need to eliminate the instigator rule. That's all. Anything changes to more severely punish an penalty is only going to make the sport less agressive... less fun to watch. It's already boring enough since fighting has been almost removed from the game. The instigator penalty removed the goons (on ice poilce), which has led to more injuries to star players... ie head shots, etc. If you had to answer to a McSorely or Probert for being reckless and giving a head shot to star player, then you'd think twice about it.
  16. O'Connor is out.... http://www.blueshirtbanter.com/2015/4/22/8465783/rangers-are-finalist-for-free-agent-goaltender-matt-oconnor
  17. good read on Eichel... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/ncaa-hockey-101--jack-eichel-as--consolation-prize-151044545.html
  18. McDavid vs Eichel has been and always will be a thing... There's no escaping it.
  19. Excellent. His freakish strength helps. That said can't wait to see his combine numbers, he's gonna blow away McDavid.
  20. When was the last time a rookie led the league in scoring?
