  1. no. not a chance. 99 is retired across all teams. period.
  2. Lack is starting because Miller said his knee is still not 100% after playing the season finale.
  3. This could go down like the Philip Rivers, Eli Manning deal. Edmonton takes McDavid, Buffalo takes Eichel then a deal is swung on the draft floor, something like Eichel, 2015 and 2016 first for McDavid probably gets it done if It's widely known McDavid won't sign with Edmonton they lose their leverage. But this whole thing falls apart if Eichel won't sign with Edmonton or states his intentions to return to school if he ends up there. Because it might not take much since Edmonton loses their leverage if he refuses to sign with them.
  4. I'm liking the deal for Kane more and more as time goes on. Armia will be 22 next month and he scored only 2 goals in 21 games since joining St. John's after the trade. He might never be an NHL regular, and Lemieux wasn't going to sign with Buffalo anyway. It's widely known that McDavid wanted to end up in Toronto or Buffalo, and the one team he didn't want to go to was Edmonton. So let's see how this plays out. I doubt Edmonton trades the pick, but what if McDavid refuses to sign? This thing is far from over IMO, he could go back to junior and set records playing a full season while a deal is worked out.
  5. How does ARI feel? Clearly the worst team in the league since the deadline. They get neither McDavid nor Eichel by a couple of points in the standings. The goal was never McDavid, it was McEichel, mission accomplished I'm excited to watch him play. Dont let the media make you feel like Buffalo was unlucky, losing the lottery when you only have a 1 in 5 chance of winning isn't unlucky at all. The fact we get Eichel means the tank was worth it.
  6. Will be interesting to see how Eichel does against men at the World Championships in a couple weeks. I wanted Eichel all along. Think his combination of size strength and speed will translate better to the NHL than McDavids flashy moves.
  7. You'll be singing a different tune when BUF wins the Matthews lottery next season. Fun fact, Auston Matthews missed the draft birthday cutoff for 2015 by 2 days.
  8. My kid had to choose a number for spring hockey just right now, so he went with #9,but left room to add a 7
  9. They're just gonna announce the winner, the same way as last year with the envelopes. However they will make the ball drawing available for public viewing afterwards on NHL.com.
  10. Consider there are infinite parallel universes.... this exact scenario happens in at least one of them. Perhaps its the universe we live in.
  11. For the actual announcement, they should have McDavid standing behind a curtain wearing the jersey of the winning team and slowly raise it to reveal the winner.
  12. The fact the each team gets an even distribution of numbers prevents tampering.... even BOS, who has only 10 combinations, has all numbers 1-14 included in their combinations. So there is no incentive to weight the balls any differently... well, except for the LAK, who do not have the number 1 in any of their combinations... what's up with that?
  13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_Pennsylvania_Lottery_scandal It's a very interesting story worth the read... the guy who announces the numbers was in on it. IMO they should use the same rules and regulations as a modern day state lottery, ie.... -maintain several sets of balls, choose one at random for the draw -keep the equipment in a locked vault -measure and weigh each ball with an auditor present and then lock them away in a vault Is any of that being done? Who the knows. All I know is that Ted Black will be there with a syringe, filling all non-Sabres balls with white paint.
  14. I like this. However, I don't ARI would give up their 2016 1st (chance to draft hometown boy Auston Matthews). Also considering GMTM can't stop dreaming about McDavid, I don't think he'd trade out of that spot for anything.
  15. I wish you didn't say that... that's basically means it's gonna happen.
  16. You win. (I feel like I'm arguing with Mike Ehrmantraut, which usually doesn't end well for the other guy)
  17. Nobody can argue that chance of infinite re-do's does NOT exist. It's just highly unlikely. Also I'm still feeling uneasy about this whole lottery thing... - What type of machine do they use? Gravity Pick or Air Mix? - Are the balls weighed and measured? When and by whom? Where are the balls stored after measurement? - Do they have duplicate sets of balls and choose one set at random for the draw? - Is the equipment kept in a locked vault? These simple lottery security procedures, which are standard practice these days to prevent malpractice, ie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_Pennsylvania_Lottery_scandal
  18. Statistically possible. I'm not trying to troll you, it's simply a mathematical possibility that nobody ever gets McDavid. In some parallel universe somewhere, that is what happens, let's hope it's not the one we live in.
  19. That would be must-see-tv. I can't believe the league doesn't realize the opportunity they have here. Or how about a game of BINGO, Buffalo gets 200 bingo cards and so forth. They could auction off spots for the fans to play for their team, or pick season ticket holders based on tenure, etc..
  20. i guess the difference we're arguing is this... I'm arguing about the probability wrt one of the the 200 out of 1001 numbers showing up. Others are arguing about the chances of winning the lottery AGAINST other teams. The chance of winning against other teams is 20%, but the chance of winning vs THE MACHINE is 19.98%. So i'm arguing that you need to beat the machine, which all teams need to do, so all teams odds vs the machine are less 0.2%.
