Can't believe there are Larsson apologists. The guy is not an NHL player.... "he's good along the wall and back checks well"... yeah, so are several thousand players who aren't in the NHL.

Last year dev camp was July 8-11. Should be quite entertaining with Dahlin and Mittlestadt. Throw in some Pu and the Harbor Center will be flush with excremen.. err.. excitement.

Depends on your definition of "generational". What's a generation? Generation is defined as all the people born and living at about the same time. That said, "generational" refers to the amount of time between birth of parents and the birth of their offspring. The average age of first time Mom's in the US is 25 years old. So "generational" means roughly once every 25 years. So are any of these guys truly a once every 25 years talent? Gretzky is the only guy that fits that definition. Now, if McDavid is head and shoulders above anobody that comes along for the next 25 years, then yes, put that label on him. Dahlin tho? hmm

will he play in the prospect camp?

Rinne and Dell

He's a decent mix of defensemen taken #1 overall in years past.... a bit of Gord Kluzak and Roman Hamrlik, with a sprinkle of Erik Johnson and Chris Phillips to round out his game. Maybe they should take that Svechnikinoyninov and put him on Eichel's wing for 20 years. Great idea? or Greatest idea?

sold his house now what?

ANA had to protect Bieksa because of his NMC. So they protected him, Fowler and Lindholm... 3D, leaving Vatanen and Manson unprotected. Theodore was exempt. The only way they could keep Vatanen and Manson was if they traded Theodore to the Knights in return for them selecting Stoner. What other choice did they have? If they traded Theodore somewhere else, then VGK turns around and takes one of Manson or Vatanen. The only other option was to trade Theodore for picks AND trade Vatanen before the draft AND protect 4 D (Bieksa, Manson, Lindhold, Fowler). They likely didn't many good offers for Theodore or Vatanen because other teams knew they were stuck. So they would've had to sell low, and would've lost a forward like Silfverbeg (assuming they protect Getzlaf, Perry, Rakell, and Kesler). I'll say this again, the idea of 7/3 or 4/4, is what killed everybody. Why not let each team protect 10 skaters regardless? That was the wrinkle that tilted the scales HEAVILY in Vegas' favor.

Sabres shots, this team might be better than we think

That's not unlucky, that's refelctive of a poor system, where shot quantity is more important than shot quality. Housley gets a free pass because the corsi numbers look better... but guess what... the only reason they're better is because his telling them to shoot from everywhere... which results in a low shooting percentage. I'd like to see them generate more high quality scoring chances instead of just trying to bump up the shots-on-goal statistic. -
Reports are that ROR lost his love for the game halfway through the third period.

The protection list rules were unfair... letting teams protectt 7F and 3D or 4F and 4D. Why not just let each team protect 10 skaters? Teams like Minnesota and Anaheim were screwed because they did a nice job of building a deep stable of young quality defensemen. Where would Vegas be without Tuch, Theodore, and Marcchesault? Probably on the back nine at Desert Pines.... but no... the league wanted them to have a deep blueline right out of the gate because that's the most difficult position to build depth organically. As a result teams were willing to give up F assets in order to protect their bluelines.... Marcchesault, Tuch, Karlsson, etc.

The Cup will be tarnished if the Knights win and I will forever question the legitimacy of the league itself.

Pegula should just fold the franchise and then pay the fee for an expansion team.

Pick John Tavares' Next Team -- Update -- JT to Leafs

Stop rationalizing why he might come to Buffalo. Buffalo is the Siberia of the NHL. He's not interested. -
PS4 has parental controls to restrict the extraneous communication, as well as daily playtime limit per child/sub account.

The linesmen shouldn't be allowed to pump fake the drop. When I played competitively I was laser focused on the linesman's hand when taking a draw. The slightest jerk of his hand would be your trigger. No around, just get them lined up, then boom drop the puck... don't stall, don't pump fake. Just drop the damn puck.

Max Jones maybe? Robert Thomas? Vilardi?

I was at the expansion draft. Fleury was the centerpiece at that time. Him and Neal were the only guys anybody was excited about. The Ducks traded (gave) them Shea Theodore in exchange for the Knights selecting Clayton Stoner instead of Josh Manson or Sami Vatanen. Stoner ended up on IR with a repeat abdominal injury. IMO Theodore was and still is a better prospect than Vatanen. They ended up trading Vatanen anyway.... I still don't understand the thought process there. They should've made moves before the expansion draft so they could protect both Theodore AND Manson. Instead they traded Theodore to keep Vatanen who they traded for Henrique. Why not protect Vatanen instead of Bieksa? The Blue Jackets gave the Knights a 1st round pick in 2017 (24th overall), and a 2nd round pick in 2019 and in exchange the Knights agreed to select William Karlsson and take on David Clarkson's contract. I understand the need for CBJ to move Clarkson's contract, but it cost them a 1st, a 2nd, AND a +40 goal scorer. Why not protect Karlsson instead of Hartnell? And the FLA protects 4 D and 4 F, instead of 3 D and 7 F. What!??!?! They protect Ekblad, Yandle, Pysyk and Petrovic. And expose a 30 goal scorer make $750k? Just dumb. MIN gives the Knights Alex Tuch in exchange for Vegas selecting Eric Haula... instead of Dumba, Scandella, or Staal. Minny was in a tough spot, if they didn't want to lose a defensman, they were going to need to give up something significant. Hard to argue with this strategy.

What should the Sabres do with their spare $19 million?

Rinne and Dell might be available. -
I started out in mites and squirts as a forward... moved to defense in peewee's and stayed there until college, where I was recruited as a forward because of my size, 5'10 tipping the scales at 165lbs out of high school. Back then I was too small to play defense no matter how well I could skate or handle the puck. Anyway, I think it's best to play some of both while you're developing. You gain a better understanding of the game by experiencing it from a different perspective. You see things you otherwise may not see if you were playing a different position. I don't know how Dahlin settled on defense, but some kids just have a knack for it.
