  1. This season BUF paid $23 million to 5 players who totaled 135 games played (skaters), 11 goals, a -55, and a goaltender who is clearly not an NHL starter. That's nearly 1/3 of the salary cap. That said, it's Housley's fault haha. Anyway, to get better next year they need to not spend 1/3 of their cap space on garbage.
  2. you'd be surprised
  3. How do you know he hasn't tried?
  4. Sounds like you get a better bang for your buck at the movies. Nobody is forcing you to go to the game. If you don't feel $100-150 is worth it, then don't go. Did they alienate the fanbase? I see Eichel jersey's left and right, and people keep buying tickets..... which signals that the tank was as success, maybe not a "success" in the standings, but merchandise and ticket sales are doing well.... very well with Eichel on the team. Wouldn't be the case with Strome.
  5. Maybe some guys in the locker room do.
  6. No, if a team wishes to tank and risk alienating their fan base, they should (and are) allowed to do so. There is a salary cap floor which helps, but there are ways around that by taking on bad contracts, etc.. Not targeting this at you PA, but this whole "anti-tank because fans are entitled to a certain level of entertainment" is a product of millennials who feel they're entitled to entertaining hockey because they bought a ticket. You buy a movie ticket, there's no guarantee you're going to enjoy it and you can't ask for your money back. Read the reviews, if it's doing poorly at the box office then don't go see it, but stop complaining all the time about how you're being "bamboozled".
  7. Tkachuck won't be ready next year, and by the looks of it, neither will MIttelstadt. Okposo neads to figure out if wants to keep playing hockey for a career. O'Reilly is likely traded, you can tell by his interviews that he's miserable here and doesn't see eye to eye with Housley. I'm afraid there is no immediate top 6 help on the horizon... maybe the bottom 6 improves.. and that's what I think will make the biggest difference moving forward. Maybe guys like CJ Smith, Baptiste, Bailey, etc... can take that next step and have an impact offensively.
  8. I don't understand... statically? What do you mean? I'm not arguing that he will definitely shoot over 20% next season. Nobody knows. But the idea that he definitely will NOT shoot over 20% (because he's guaranteed to trend toward his average) is flawed logic.
  9. Is he wrong?
  10. Johannson gave up 5 goals and an .821 sv% in his only full game with the Amerks is why.
  11. sooooooo tanky. i'll allow it.
  12. I envision Housley sending Casey out to take the opening draw, all by his lonesome.... 1 on 5. CM wins the draw... to himself, the crowd erupts as he toeys every Red Wing sending himself him alone against the Detroy-IT netminder. He slams on the brakes and salutes the crowd before ripping a 360 degree wrappy clappy top cheese. Anything less will be a huge disappointment IMO.
  13. An all Swedish line for the playoffs?
  14. Woe to you, oh Earth and sea For the Devil sends the Beast with wrath Because he knows the time is short Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the Beast For it is a human number, its number is thirty seven
  15. TPegs initiated the tank. "If you want to watch the Sidney Crosbys, you have to get the Sidney Crosbys." - Terry Pegula
  16. The Third Reichelstadt The Deutsch Duo The Axis of Eichel The German Vermin The K r a u t Connection i tried...
  17. aaaaaaaaactually.... no i do not lol
  18. hmmmmm.... https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/hockey/news/sabres-casey-mittelstadt-skates-on-second-line-in-first-practice/ "Mittelstadt skated on the second line during the morning skate Wednesday. Evan Rodrigues gets bumped from center and will play on Mittelstadt's left wing with Sam Reinhart on the right side, while Ryan O'Reilly's trio stays intact but gets bumped down to the third line."

  20. The idea that every player will undoubtedly trend towards the average is simply not true. Let's say Karlsson was at 18% in Nov. Using your logic, the idea that he could finish the season at 23% should be almost impossible... "Because no one in the NHL shoots at 23.3% consistently."
  21. This why I came up TRpm. Last season ROR was a +23, this season he's a +17 I think, somewhere in the high teens. He's not the reason this team sucks... which is obvious, but TRpm helps to confirm that.
  22. ...but more importantly, what was his TRpm in practice this morning?
  23. How do you know that? Just because he had a high shooting % this season, doesn't mean it will be worse next season. It's like a roulette table... you see black come up 23 times in a row... so does that mean red is more likely to hit on the next spin? No, each spin is an independent event. I don't know what Jack's +/- will be next season, but I do know what it was this season, and that tells me something about how he's performed. Risto has been a minus player his entire career, but his TRpm has been positive the past few seasons, and on a bad team that means he's not neccessarily the reason they are where they are in the standings. Do I expect him to be a plus player on a better team? Yes. That said, Okposo has a terrible TRpm on a bad team... if he continues to play like he has, do I expect him to be a plus player on a good team? No.
  24. If you said that back in November, you'd be wrong. Tell me, exactly when will it end? If there was a game played tomorrow, would you rather have Karlsson with his 23% or Okposo with his 7%?
