GDT : Sabres at Islanders 3-25-2023 5 PM - ESPN+/Hulu, WGR

Comrie was a different goalie tonight. Amazing what the goaltending looks like when they only give up a few high danger chances. Props to him, especially after his last start. -

Jack Quinn is on the verge of something awesome
Porous Five Hole replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
My takeaway here is that Quinn is comparing favorably to Beniers, who is the Calder trophy favorite. Beniers is playing first line minutes with a near 40 goal scorer (McCann) and Jordan Eberle (will score 20 goals and is a plus player). Matty also is on PP1. Putting his points total next to Quinn (who sometimes rotates in on PP2 and has Peterka—who I like long term—not giving Quinn much help) isn’t really telling the story. I do not understand a lot of fancy stats, but if my rookie is on the same plane as the rookie of the year at even strength points per 60 minutes….me likey. -

What does “promoting that lifestyle” mean? I’m not understanding what you’re trying to say. -

I think the Bills need to go WR early. Diggs will turn 30 this season, and that used to be the accepted gold standard of WR drop off. Gabe Davis is a guy, but probably not a second contract guy. He’s a UFA after next year. Shakir didn’t show much (somehow he got 275 snaps last year, but only 20 targets/10 catches….so like I said, not much). Plus the additions of Harty & Sherfield. And that’s it. A potential, but unlikely DeAndre trade doesn’t really fix much beyond the next year or two as well. The Bills really need to hit on a WR in this draft, and I’m fine if that’s the first pick they make.

I’m seeing Anthony Jeselnik at the Carlson in ROC in April. It’ll be my first time seeing him and I’m glad he’s still small-time enough to do clubs. -
fyi. But those void years will need to be paid eventually. If the Bills do this, then they’re all in on 2023 and there will be dead cap pain from this D Hop contract, Von contract, probably and eventually Diggs, etc.

DeAndre was still elite once he came back from his suspension last year, and that was with guys like McSorley throwing the ball. My issue is he is 31. WR fall off the table quickly (AJ Green, Julio Jones). I would be unwilling to part with anything substantial for him, unless it is for major cash out like the 10MM man Ed Oliver. I like Oliver, but not at that price. I also wouldn’t offer DeAndre an extension (this year and next year left on his current deal). He gets to keep his cash and no restructure. And that assumes Buffalo can even take on his cap hit cuz it is huge. I am not kicking dead cap down the line for this player.

More pride night cancellations. This one in Chicago and allegedly because of security concerns involving a Russian law that expands restrictions on activities seen as promoting LGBTQIA+ rights in the country. How convenient. I say allegedly because something smells with all of these cancellations and it has everything to do with the temperature of this country on the topic and nothing to do with Russia. NHL owners don't mind forcing Russian players to honor the US Military every night, but supporting the LGBTQ+ community once a year? Thats just too risky for them! 🙄

Disturbing video of Danny Briere's son
Porous Five Hole replied to sabrefanday1's topic in The Aud Club
The story I read stated that she was allowed to/encouraged to use the employee-only restroom. I’m guessing a packed bar like that would be hard for a wheelchair user to navigate. That doesn’t mean there are upstairs bathrooms, but I cannot imagine everyone has to go downstairs like that. -
Devon Levi Signed to 3 year deal
Porous Five Hole replied to sabresparaavida's topic in The Aud Club
I don’t think there are roster limits after the trade deadline. Since the salary cap isn’t an issue, I think they can all be here. -
I believe this is true, but there’s a big caveat. If he signs an ATO for this season, then I believe his ELC won’t kick in until next year. That is not in Levi’s best interest…burning a year off his ELC is.

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?

Which means the Sabres need to win ten out of their last 15 games (to get to 92 points). -

Let's Make a Deal (Suggestions for K.A. for 2023)
Porous Five Hole replied to PerreaultForever's topic in The Aud Club
Short answer is he’s Devon Levi, but ready for #1 duty today. Richter award winner/outstanding in college. Seasoned two years in the NHL with great numbers on a great team I am sure he wants to be #1 and Ullmark is in the way. He’s 1B at best and Boston will need to rebuild in his prime. Being on the B’s helps his numbers the last two years, but my original reasons why this is an attractive spot stand. -

What if the Sabres threw an offer sheet at Swayman? The cupboard is stocked to make a move like this. The cost is the cost. Boston would have a hard time committing something like 3.5M to their backup goalie position. G1 Swayman and G2 UPL for the next 82. Comrie can clean and dry their equipment. G1 Swayman and G2 Levi for the 82 after that. UPL can be moved before the season to recoup some of the spent assets on Swayman. Best in the crease after that. I think a top five goal scoring team with two cornerstone D for the next decade would be pretty attractive to a goalie. -
JFC. F me! Leafs misery is so pretty to look at 😍

I can read those lips and it makes me so happy 🤣

I think it is the college kids and the reason is 80’s goaltending (and more defensive structured play of today). The winningest goalie of the decade is Mike Liut. His GAA was 3.51 and his save percentage was .883. As a matter of fact, no one who played the majority of their career in the 80’s had a save percentage at or above .900. Patrick Roy was close (.898).

Anderson will be terrific. Sabres win. And @Sidc3000 will get suspended again for no reason at all. 😉 should be fun!
