  1. Not really. Johnson’s skating is elite. He is more defensively inclined. He uses his feet and brain to break up plays and angle off attackers. He is not a thumper. He can move the puck up ice. Best case scenario is he is Muel like but rather then size and body he uses brains and feet to make strong defensive plays.
  2. Are you just looking for size? Do you think Barlow is better then Östlund? Reinbacher is not going to be there at #13. If you want to hold the pick with the dream of Reinbacher then what are you adding in a trade to move up and get him? If Oliver Moore is there at 13 he is probably the best skater in the draft but his hockey sense and skills don’t match his feet. Östlund was one of the best skaters in last year’s draft and his brain is elite.
  3. Good to see a lifer like Cronin get a chance. I wonder how many NHL coaches got their first NHL head coaching job at 60?
  4. With Akey, he was Barrie’s top dman and then Brandt Clarke got sent down and took the spot so Akey’s final counting numbers aren’t as good as they could have been. Might push him down a bit further then where he should be taken.
  5. Östlund’s better then what will be available at 13
  6. Vaxjo won the SHL. Championship. He is going to a good organization in the top league. It will be good for his development. It is for one year. Rosen was brought to Rochester because he wasn’t getting ice time in Sweden. Vaxjo went after Östlund so I believe they have plans for him to play regularly.
  7. I agree. I was just making conversation around Girard being available and Colorado looking for a centre. Girard is talented and in the age range but I think they need a more defensively inclined dman with some more size.
  8. I agree that is why I also did 13 for Demko straight up. The sweetener would have to be a draft pick because they are a mess as far as young prospects go.
  9. #13 and Comrie for Demko and Myers? Or simply #13 for Demko Somehow Vancouver have the worst cap situation in the league. They are really handcuffed. There are rumours they might move Demko at the draft. He would make a great tandem with Levi for 3 years. Taking Myers clears more cap for them. One year deal he can be more than serviceable beside Power. UPL can’t be sent down so flip him and VO for picks. Also word that either Swayman or Ullmark will be moved for cap purposes in Boston. Swayman is an RFA they can’t afford to sign right now, Ullmark making $5 million for 2 more years. There will be quality options to upgrade in net this offseason.
  10. Seravalli had an article the other day talking about trade targets around the league with some interesting tidbits. LA have too many RHD and it looks like Walker is the odd man out there. Colorado want a centre and will move Girard. He can play right side and is locked up for 4 more years. Something around Mitts for Girard? Parayko or Faulk are going to be moved in St Louis. Boston are in big cap trouble. Said Grzelcyk will probably be moved but mentioned that Carlo at $4.1 might be in the crosshairs. Carlo+Ullmark now that would be an offseason😁 Not likely to happen but it would solve the Bruins cap issues and solve Sabres main issues as well
  11. Read the Friedman post. They don’t want futures they want NHL players that can step into the lineup now and help.
  12. That was the point. Friedman also said that the Devils May Trade Damon Severson’s rights before free agency. I wonder what Adams thinks of him Say you could move Joker for Hellebuyck then turn around and trade a 4th-5th for Severson’s rights and lock him up to play with Power. Would be interesting.
  13. “Hi Winnipeg, boy could Jokiharju, Olafsson and UPL/Comrie help you right now”😜
  14. Friedman said what a lot of us were thinking. Dubas is the GM. He took the POHO role for the power but he will be the GM. There will be a puppet person in the GM position but he is making all the calls.
  15. I’m disappointed none of them have tried to stick out by having Bedard ranked 5th and Michkov falling to the 4th round.😛
  16. The Bears have Carlsson on the blue line that could be an NHLer and McMichael up front that will be an NHLer. The rest of their team was basically journeymen AHL vets. Amerks have Rousek, Kulich, Rosen, Cederqvist, Kozak that should play and guys like Weissbach and Metsa who I think will earn chances. The Marlies won a Cup a couple years ago with a ridiculous payroll of AHL bets but it did nothing to help the Leafs as none of those guys were developing talent. This Amerks team will help the Sabres a lot in a couple years. And as you said, add Kisakov, Neuchev, Novikov, Johnson, Nadeau into the mix next season and you have a great pipeline to future Sabres success.
  17. No to Gibson.Let someone else pray he rediscovers himself. Ullmark is still the best option. Bruins fans are all resigned to the fact he has to be moved this offseason. 2 years at 5 million, career numbers around .915. Would be the perfect fit but everyone is all caught up that he left when the team was a tire fire. His acquisition cost would be less than Hellebuyck to and you get the extra year. If Adams goes Levi-UPL-Comrie then he is doing the entire organization a disservice. You want to ruin a potential franchise goalie, throw him in the deep end too quickly and have no backup plan. Get Levi a good vet mentor to help him along and develop to his full potential. There is too much smoke from insiders linking Hellebuyck to Buffalo to tell me that Adams is not interested in upgrading the goalie position.
  18. I loved when Kypreos and MacLean were on Sportsnet. Always interesting talk and great stories. For anyone who thinks GMs have all the power and make all the decisions, MacLean told a story once of when he was GM of the Blue Jackets. He was happy with his lineup and then the owner walked into his office and said “I need you to cut $10 million of the payroll by the end of the week. Don’t care who it is just get it done.” Had to move guys he didn’t want to and got crucified in the media and by the fanbase but he had no choice.
  19. Good run Amerks. A ton of growth for a lot of young players. Hat tip to the coaching staff for bringing these guys along. Impressed withMetsa again tonight. Hershey won the series and deserved it but that 90s Devils style of play is a disgrace to the game. Just unwatchable garbage.
  20. I guess it will all come down to how does Dubas view him. With Fenway and now Dubas in charge I don’t think any of the old Pens ties matter. I don’t see Botts, Karmanos or Ventura having any sort of inside track because they used to work for the old regime. I think the Leafs front office will have a better shot.
  21. Who would you consider a “wise” trade for 13th? Hellebuyck, Hanafin, I wouldn’t have a problem with either or a 2nd for Tanev. Just depends what else is added in addition to either pick. To me a big part of development is putting young guys in positions to succeed and grow. Having a goalie the quality of Hellebuyck here even if just for a year will help Levi’s development exponentially. I was reading about Jonas Gustafson in Minny. He was a young goalie who hadn’t had a lot of success. He went to the Wild and got around Fluery who showed him how to prepare and train and he ends up having a terrific season this year.
  22. If Kane came back good as old in January and signed a friendly one year deal with Buffalo for a playoff push the fans would be excited.
  23. Uh you now the difference between assistant GM and GM. If he accepted the GM role in Pittsburgh he would not want to be a yes man to all Dubas’ whims. Dubas is the defacto GM. He took the POHO so he has the power to make the decisions without a President overtop of him overriding his decisions.
  24. My guess is Brandon Pridham who worked with him with the Leafs and helped write the collective bargaining agreement. Throw Spezza in as an associate.
