Every team has these tweeners. They are NHL depth that can play when injuries occur over an 82 game season. I don’t see it as egregious. The Marlies won a Calder Cup with a lineup that rivalled some NHL payrolls.

There is also Wahlberg coming who adds a completely different game compared to the others. Neuchev is really developing too. They could move two of Kulich, Rosen, Savoie or Östlund and this year’s first pick and still be in good shape up front prospect wise. You only move them for quality NHL players that fill real needs though.

Yep. It was always going to be Ruff. And I’m fine with it. If you decide this is the house you want to buy you don’t need to look at 30 more. Just put an offer in. I didn’t see any of the other candidates as head and shoulders above Ruff. Berube and Gallant were the best alternatives and they each came with different warts as well. Ruff could bring what they do but has the added Buffalo history aspect to the equation. Pegula could be sold on him, Adams knows and can work with him and it gives some good PR to a fan base that is desperate for it.

Georgiev has not been good but Hellebuyck has been equally bad so far this series. Demko injured and Desmith has not been up to the task tonight so far against the Preds. Worst nightmare for a team when the franchise goalie goes down in Game 1 of the playoffs.

Georgiev doesn’t even look like he’s trying. Avs are going to have to score A LOT this series.

OK, coach is hired, vibes, accountability talk. The real work needs to begin. Step 1: Fill out the staff with quality NHL level coaches Step 2: Identify what pieces Ruff feels are missing from the lineup. A checking line with some energy and grit is a must. Centre that can win key draws. Sounds like Lindy wants an enforcer type he can move in and out of the lineup. Step 3: Adams needs to step up and get these pieces. Prospects and draft picks need to be on the table for quality NHL players You can tell by Adams demeanour today that he knows his ass is over the fire and he better deliver.

Vegas will be in a cap crunch. Chandler Stephenson would be a very good 2/3 C signing

Adams saying it is about winning games now seems to say his “can’t block the kids” is out the window. I expect some more physicality brought in and a couple guys that resemble a true checking/shutdown line.

If they announce it is Marty Wilford staying on with the D rather than a James Patrick I think any goodwill is out the window for me.

The guy is almost 65. I’m sure Terry is tired of paying coaches for not coaching them anymore. Nothing wrong with 2 years.

People say “how many times did he make the playoffs in Dallas and NJ?” But what was the state of Dallas when he took over and the state of the devils when he took over?” He built both lowly clubs up to get into the playoffs. You could take prime Scotty Bowman and put him behind the bench of the SJ Sharks the past two years and say “ Well he missed the playoffs the past two years.” This roster is ready to compete (and Adams better improve it this summer) so it is a different situation Lindy is walking into.

3 things need to happen: 1) Ruff gives us some insight into filling out his staff 2) Adams gives us some insight into his offseason plan to build this roster to make the playoffs next season 3) Harrington asks a stupid obnoxious question and Lindy lights him up.

Do you still consider Levi a rookie prospect? I think him and UPL share the net next season which I’m fine with. His goal should be to fill out the roster with NHL players that can help now. If a Kulich or Rosen or Savoie or Novikov completely blow the doors off and knock someone out of a spot then great but none of them should be pencilled in or expected to take a spot.

Lindy is HC. Fill out the staff. I think James Patrick has to be a favourite. Was his assistant in Buffalo and Dallas. Then left to take over the bench in Kootenay and moved with the franchise to Winnipeg. Didn’t want to move to Wenatchee with the franchise. Coached Krebs, Savoie and Benson and had great success in Winnipeg. Would be a great mentor to Dahlin, Power, Byram etc Chris Taylor is another interesting name. Was Lindy’s assistant in NJ. What might be dicey is that he was Rochester’s HC and was replaced with Seth Appert. Seth Appert might be the heir apparent especially if they have another long playoff run. I can see him being groomed under Lindy for a few years. A couple others that some won’t like to hear are Peca and McKee. I think Mike Bales is retained as goalie coach. UPL has come on strong and Levi is on the cusp. If the Leafs lose and clean house Guy Boucher is a great PP coach. Former Sabres coach Bob Woods runs a good PP as well.

I think Adams will make one maybe two significant moves to shakeup the lineup and a couple vet signings. He can’t be banking this season on adding more kids. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 1st pick and/or a prospect or two are moved out for a significant piece that can help win now. I can’t see Ruff agreeing to come back with the idea of just promoting a couple more kids.
