This team won't have a legit starting goalie solidified until one of Luukkonen, Portillo or Levi step up and take the job. Until then it will be more Craig Anderson, Dustin Tokarski and Aaron Dell...or guys like them.

Anybody crapping on Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, just doesn't know goalies. He hasn't even played 40 AHL games, when it usually takes 100-200 games for a goalie to find their game. Not saying he's going to be the future, but it's silly to call him a bust already.

Sam Reinhart is the product of being bad. Jack Eichel is the product of the tank. Dylan Cozens and the other names you mentioned are the products of a rebuild. They are all very different.

Hasek was also drafted 199th overall...not in the first round.

I can agree with taking one somewhere in the draft, but I don't agree with spending a first round pick on a goalie right now. Sure. I'll take more goalies, I just don't want to spend a first round pick on one right now.

Oh, see that's where we really differ...I think Krueger had more power than we'll ever know. I think he was the de facto GM last offseason, given the players we signed.

What opportunity has either of them had? Luukkonen had a few games on awful Rochester and Buffalo teams. Portillo was a freshman. Portillo will prove this year that he is the future.

Taylor Hall came to Buffalo for three reasons...Ralph Krueger, Jack Eichel and $8M. Kevyn Adams had nothing to do with it, it would've happened no matter who the GM was.

They have Luukkonen and Portillo...there's no reason to draft a goalie in the first round.

It's unconscionable to me how some people still don't understand the concept and that it actually worked. It's everything after that that's been the problem.

Karmanos has A LOT of work to do, at one point they had Alec McCrea playing center...he's an ECHL defenseman.

Who on this team, outside of Jack and Sam, can score 20 goals? Olofsson needs Jack and is awful 5-on-5. Skinner is washed up. That's about it. Unless Cozens and Mittelstadt become great setup guys overnight, I don't see it. I saw someone mention guys like Thompson and Bjork could be 20-goal guys, that's a pipe dream. In 2014-15 the Sabres had one 20-goal scorer. Tyler Ennis. And he scored exactly 20 goals. (The next closest was Girgensons with 15 goals.) I hope you're right, but I highly doubt either is here come October.

If Eichel and Reinhart are both gone, I predict we will have zero 20-goal scorers. If they are here, I'd expect around 3-4 of them.

I think so too...which is why if you want to keep Eichel happy, you need to re-sign Reinhart to a long-term deal.

It starts with Byfield and Turcotte...and I think I need Kaliyev added as well. From there, throw on some draft picks. I'm not taking back any bad contracts either. That gives us Byfield, Cozens, Mittelstadt, Turcotte down the middle...and, hopefully, Matty Beniers. We would be stacked at center. (EDIT: That leaves the Kings with Eichel, Kopitar, Vilardi and Kupari down the middle, which they should be very happy about.)

He's awful...Mattias Samuelsson should be playing over him. I hope the big boy gets a few games in soon.

He's not cracking this roster or getting any playing time on the Sabres this year either.

That ROR trade to St. Louis is still devastating to me...it makes me so mad to think about it. He's a player I wanted long before we ever got him. He's the first Sabres jersey I bought since my Hasek jersey in 1999. I hate Jason Botterill.
