  1. People are still blaming Tim Murray? He's the only GM we have had who brought in any talent. If Tim Murray was given more time, we'd be a playoff team right now.
  2. Hell, I'd rather see Seth Appert as the coach...at least the Amerks are fun and exciting.
  3. Samuelsson has everything we need and want in a defenseman...unfortunately this organization can't develop a prospect to save their damn life. And I'm really not counting on Matt Ellis, Mike Weber and Adam Mair to be any type of development gurus here. (I wish we could bring Derek Plante home from Chicago, he does wonders with those prospects.)
  4. Doesn't matter how good Samuelsson looks, that blogger kid will always say he's bad and won't be an NHL defenseman.
  5. You said so yourself, it's A LOT easier to build a good football team than it is to build a good hockey team.
  6. Remember Jesper Olofsson...what happened to that guy? He wasn't in camp and he's not on the roster.
  7. Hopefully Aatu Raty continues his fall down the rankings and he's available when the Sabres pick. PS. Watch some Michigan hockey if you get a chance...Power, Beniers and Johnson are going to be studs.
  8. Here's to hoping it all works itself out, as far as the goalies are concerned! 🍻
  9. Who cares? Brendan Guhle crushed (CRUSHED) the combine and what's that done for him so far? These are hockey players, not body-builders. Combines are worthless. The problem was not a lack of pull-ups, it was a lack of time...they should have left him in college for another year, at least. Send him to Rochester to start the year and put him on the top line, top PP, top PK and let him work...I think we still have something there, I really do.
  10. I get your point, but we need more than Adin Hill. He's a fine young goalie, but I want more. Kuemper would be a dream, but I'll take Raanta.} All I know is they cannot go into the season with Carter Hutton as one of their two NHL goalies.
  11. But who, is the question? I've looked at every roster and there are not many goalies I'd assume are available. Columbus is keeping both their young goalies, so that leaves Arizona as the only real possible trade partner. They. Have. To. Do. Something.
  12. I think Reinhart is going to get Domi money...something along the lines of 2 years at $5.3M a year. I think Olofsson will get Kubalik money...something like 2 years at $3.7M. I think Ullmark will get Georgiev money....something like 2 years at $2.4M. If that happens, with where our roster is now, that would leave us with around $1.5M in salary cap space (according to CapFriendly). Ristolainen, Miller or Montour need to be traded to open up some cap space, if any other moves are expected.
  13. I agree, I think they're going to have a pretty solid team...it will all come down to coaching. (They also have Olofsson's brother, which I totally forgot about...he could be a very good veteran for the team.)
  14. Carolina just signed Jeremy Bracco...I was hoping the Sabres would sign him and give him an opportunity on the top line with Mittelstadt in Rochester. I think this could end up as a smart signing, by a smart team. EDIT: I thought the USNTDP connection would work there too.
  15. I really hope you're right...losing one of those kids would create a massive hole in the top-6. Just wanted to gauge what others thought of the possibility of them being signed before it gets to this point.
  16. I didn't know where to ask this, so I figured I would do it here... Does anyone remember an article from The Athletic last year about how most players that go to salary arbitration end up getting traded? It was a great article, but I've been thinking about it lately and how it worries me about them trading Reinhart and/or Olofsson to save money. I've looked everywhere for it and cannot find the article. (It did end up happening with Rodrigues.) EDIT: I found it! Lol. https://theathletic.com/1085655/2019/07/19/if-a-player-makes-it-to-an-arbitration-hearing-history-suggests-hes-likely-a-goner/
  17. The lineup is basically set at this point (although I'd like a better 3C, allowing Eakin to move to 4C)... Hall - Eichel - Olofsson Skinner - Staal - Reinhart Thompson - Eakin - Cozens Girgensons - Lazar - Okposo I just don't see where he fits...I think a year in Rochester, playing on the top-line with Mittelstadt, would do both of them wonders.
  18. Yeah, they would have to find a way to get him to waive it. I'd just hate to see them do such a huge favor for a division rival and not get compensated for it. Then they're going to be stuck with him, it's as simple as that. Unless Yzerman does them that favor.
  19. It's stupid to do them the favor of claiming him...any team that claims him is not very smart. You tell them you'll take him for a 7th round draft pick, but they need to throw you a 3rd round pick in return. Something along those lines, what choice does Tampa have?
  20. Why do people keep saying this? Literally everywhere has him listed as a C/LW. But this is only a surprise because they are clearly drafting for need and not BPA, like they said they would. He thinks Johan Larsson is the second-coming of Patrice Bergeron.
  21. Too early for Luke Tuch? Also, watch for Eamon Powell...he played with my nephew and looks to be a solid mid-round gamble.
  22. He sounds like Brandon Beane, if I'm being honest...let's hope he ends up being as good as Beane has been.
  23. Alexander Holtz will be the third best player in this draft class...and the Sabres will pass him up for a kid with a 3rd line ceiling (Lundell).
