  1. I'm shocked he signed without the promise of getting playing time. You're so close to free agency, after 4 years of waiting, why not go to free agency and try to find a better spot for yourself?
  2. We gave up "a ton" for Ryan O'Reilly??? Mikhail Grigorenko, Nikita Zadorov, JT Compher and a 2nd round pick...I'd do that trade every single time and not think twice about it. The only player they have left from that trade is Compher, who is a bottom-6 player.
  3. On paper, the roster is not the worst in the league... On the ice, they are.
  4. I didn't know where to put this, but here is Button's list of top prospects outside the NHL... JJ Peterka makes the list, Jack Quinn doesn't. https://www.tsn.ca/detroit-red-wings-blue-chippers-montreal-canadiens-cole-caufield-headline-top-75-prospects-list-1.1617205
  5. If you told me a couple years ago that the Sabres would be in dead last and have a chance to grab Shayne Gostisbehere and Nikitia Gusev on the waiver-wire, I would have told you that you're crazy. (Well, I might have believed the "Sabres being in dead last" part, but not the other part.)
  6. Seth Jarvis had 7 goals and 11 points in 9 AHL games...Jack Quinn has 1 goal and 4 points in 9 AHL games. Who knows who will be better, but it's just another reminder that the Quinn pick was too high.
  7. The goal should always be to make the playoffs or acquire talent/improve the roster...we only have a chance to do one of those things, take it! Those players can all find confidence without ruining the opportunity to get a top player in the draft. (We're so far in the basement that it probably doesn't even matter if we win a couple games.)
  8. I hope you're right (or "Chad" is), because that is not the kind of roster building we need. I like the idea of the hire, but I got thinking about that and it got me worried.
  9. At the cost of a top-3 pick? No thanks. This team needs talent, not meaningless wins to appease a couple fans. If this is how you feel, you might as well not trade Taylor Hall or anyone else.
  10. I'm just scared of Rutherford's building strategy...he constantly trades draft picks and he left Pittsburgh with literally zero prospects.
  11. Winning games this year does nothing for this organization...a 2nd round pick is much more valuable to this team right now. That would be a perfect bridge to Luukkonen.
  12. Goalies? Yes, they get much longer. Most goalies don't hit their ceiling until they're 27-28 years old. Cal Petersen is 26 years old (he'll be 27 this October) and he's just starting to come into his own as a starting goalie for the Kings. Ben Bishop went through the same kind of development path. Dominik Hasek wasn't a starter until he was like 29 years old or something like that. Again, goalies develop at a slower pace and require a lot more time than any other position...which is why we need to be patient with Luukkonen and Portillo.
  13. Why would Borgen be a "placeholder" for Samuelsson...one is a RHD and the other is a LHD. If anything, Miller and McCabe are the placeholders.
  14. Bob Motzko should be the guy, not Nate Leaman.
  15. Just in time for the Shane Wright draft, eh? That should be fun when he ends up in New York.
  16. No way, that would look so bad on the Pegulas and Adams. I guess I shouldn't completely dismiss the idea, but I highly doubt they would do that.
  17. Then who will coach the team for two weeks while he quarantines?
  18. Olofsson stepped in and did that because of his development in Sweden, playing against men for years. Bryson and Borgen spent significant time on top-end NCAA programs, then both came to the Amerks and looked great from the jump. I'm not trying to crap on the guy, I'd take him over Krueger at this point but, again, he couldn't win a playoff game with good teams.
  19. "Murdered his career?" He literally got a promotion from the AHL to the NHL. Lol.
  20. I think you could get one or the other, but not all four pieces. As for Byfield, I'd take him over Turcotte too, but I don't think the Kings would do it. Then I guess they better make sure they develop whatever kids they get in return, because they are most likely the biggest asset in the package.
  21. If we're trading Eichel, I'm sending him to Los Angeles and trying to get Alex Turcotte and Gabe Vilardi, plus some other pieces. That gives us Turcotte, Cozens and Vilardi as a center spine...and they still have Eichel, Kopitar, Byfield and Kupari as a center spine. Plus, I'd add Matty Beniers to our center spine in this upcoming draft...he's a future Selke winner.
  22. Ralph must have a pretty weak ego to be scared of a coach who couldn't win an AHL playoff game with a stacked veteran roster. Olofsson is a product of Sweden. Borgen and Bryson are a product of the NCAA.
  23. Quinn scoring a goal would be nice, given Seth Jarvis has 7 goals and 11 points in 9 games...Jarvis was taken just shortly after we took Quinn. (Zayde Wisdom, a 4th round pick in 2020, has 6 goals and 8 points in 7 games.)
  24. It starts with Jack Eichel, Ryan O'Reilly, Sam Reinhart, Evander Kane and Victor Olofsson...which is pretty damn good. Certainly better than Botterill bringing in Jacob Josefsson, Benoit Pouliot and Jordan Nolan. I still wish Murray and Bylsma were given one more year to fix the defense.
  25. Neither could Botterill, and Kevyn Adams just took Jack Quinn over much better prospects...so there's that. The only good players on this team, aside from Hall, were brought in by Tim Murray. I'd rather have a team with Ryan O'Reilly, Evander Kane and Robin Lehner, than this soft-as-sh*t garbage we're getting from this team.
