  4. I'm recommending the masonry hammer...... but not from personal experience. 1. Waiter..... 2 days 2. Lifeguard.... indoor 3. Lifeguard.... outdoor summers at a State Park (Target Rich) 4. 6. From Erie Pa....... Red Barn fast food, The Moody Blues and Carole King, Johnny Quest, Pong, Wrist Rockets, Flexible Flyers, Lost in Space, Eating Sunday dinner (gwumpki's) on the steps to the 2nd floor of gramma's house. Bugle Boy tobacco, The good the bad and the ugly. Nipi...... a game (often leading to stitches) where the "batter" stood in a 6' diameter circle of rope with a long stick for a bat and a "nipi" for the "ball". The nipi was a 6" long piece of wood, 2 - 3" in diameter, whittled to points on both ends. The batter would lay the nipi on the ground and strike it on one of the pointy ends, popping the nipi up into the air, and then strike the nipi out of the air towards the glove-less fielders. The fielders could catch the nipi (if they were insane) and they would immediately go to bat. Or they could pick the nipi up from where it landed and try to throw it back into the batter's circle, where the batter would try to strike it out of the air back out into the fielders. If the nipi landed in the rope circle the fielder was now the batter....... over and over..... until the streetlights came on or your mom whistled for you.
  7. I tried the Luponic Distortion 1 (Firestone Walker)in a growler and it was very good. Firestone Luponic Distortion changes the hops mix on a "base beer" every 90 days and assigns a Revolution #.......Rev 1 was just as good (maybe better) out of the can..... but Revolution 2 recently hit the shelves of my local craft brew store, and although it's pretty tasty also, Rev 1 was a better fit for me........
  8. Went to the blue gold scrimmage, and watched him skate....... He's got speed and can handle the puck. Can't wait to see more Olofsson.
  9. I come here to improve my vocabulary....... magnanimity - the quality of being magnanimous.
  10. 10 to 1 he winds up in Vegas in a year........
  11. This'll be the 1st year I haven't attended in the last 5.... Friday nights were great..... Saturdays in the summer are too valuable, as we just don't have that much nice weather to burn a day of it....I'd be way more tempted if JV were attending..... and $20? The first few were free.
  12. It is a kick in the nutz...... a small bone that would have been gobbled up by Sabres/Amerks fans..... But to be honest, I'd rather sit in the RIT Polisseni center , than the BCA......... it's kind of a dump.
  13. noun 1. a bad-tempered, difficult, cantankerous person.
  14. Given a max ELC from the contending teams, the differentiation might to come down to Opportunity, Coaching, and Camaraderie...... I think Buffalo has the Camaraderie locked up with Jack. The coaching..... well I just don't know enough about JV's style and how it will mesh with DB. but some of Jay McKee's comments from a BuffaloHockeyBeat piece prior to hiring DB are below..... and in general terms, if McKee was on target, DB should be an asset to landing JV...... Playing alongside Jack, Sam, ROR, and Kane will provide plenty of opportunity....... I think the coaching piece is huge in a young players mind.............I say he signs....... whether or not he pans out is another question. “Some coaches, you feel like it’s work,” he said. “You go to the rink and you’re bogged down with all kinds of video, all this information. I just thought his preparation for each game was exceptional toward the players. I thought he was a good person.” “He was a guy you could talk to,” he said, “if that’s what you want to categorize as a players’ coach. … He was … just blunt, like, ‘This is the game plan that’s going to give you the best chance to win.’ … We’d come in after the first period, if guys weren’t playing the system, he wasn’t going to walk around screaming and yelling.” “I think because with the young players that are growing and developing, you need good structure, you need good teaching,” McKee said. “You need a guy players feel like they can speak to, and I feel he’s that kind of guy. There’s a lot of attention to detail. There’s a lot of changing things up mid-game. It’s not just one system all game long. He’ll change things on the go. … I think he would be a good fit right now for what this team is in.”
  15. Phil Pritchard looks great on First Niagara Center ice!
  16. The weekend hunting was uneventful..... saw 4 birds(1 gobbler? 3 hens?) on Saturday morning, but they weren't saying a thing. I think someone must have found my honeyhole late in the week and shook things up a little ........ Brined and smoked the breasts from last weeks bird........... smoked with cherry...... It turned out pretty good.
  17. I've got a buddy who has done the sea duck thing for a couple of years...... he says it's very dependent on the weather. 2 years ago, they had a great hunt. Last year, warm weather.... no birds. They go with a guide off Long Island.
  18. Shot a 2 year old gobbler this week...... Worked 5 birds the day before with my daughter, and had 2 jakes inside 15 yards...... just couldn't get one of the big boys to commit. Then on Wednesday morning, I was working what I think was a 3 YO, and this 2 YO walks into my vision from behind me at 15 yards..... wrong place, wrong time. We'll be trying for a bird for her tomorrow morning!
  19. Rubbed and smoked a moose sirloin tip roast over the weekend........ to an internal temp of 145F........ it's juicy, tender, and flavorful......... everything you'd expect from beef moose, Eh?
  20. I'm hoping that it's all the right things coming together...... vet leadership, young guys bringing enthusiasm, trusting your brothers in arms....... next season the process will be further along..... I do know that this year I'm sad to see the Sabres season end, and last year it couldn't end fast enough...............
  21. So very cool...... The little guy has to be on cloud nine. Talk about exciting.
  22. If you can find Smiths hotdogs, I like them better than zweigls, or Sahlens. Being born and raised in NW Pa, they were a staple of picnics and get togethers while growing up..... chronologically. Speaking of hotdogs, a friend offered up some samples from a Newfoundland moose he'd shot last fall.......... Moosedogs with diced jalapeno and cheese in a natural casing..... excellent. Next up is a sirloin tip roast.
  23. Spent some time in Houston recently, and tried a Fetching Lab - Bound and Determined Stout (chile stout) on tap...... nothing overbearing, and a nice chile pepper finish....... I didn't think I would like it but whaddayaknow......
