I'm probably in the minority but let ROR be an away captain and Jack at home. Or vice versa. Frankly leadership is most important but recognition is also a consideration. In my opinion ROR is in general most "qualified" at this point but Jack is the franchise guy.

I'm not convinced he wants to be here plus long term will he have more off ice issues. His talent has not been questioned but he becomes high risk long term because last year may not be what you get on ice over seven years and off ice and team wise I'm concerned.

Shattenkirk known as a power play guy. Not what we really need for the cost. I think our power play is pretty good as is without paying upwards of probably 6-7ml for Shattenkirk. I'd stay away.

Darcy made good value trades. Darcy didn't fit pieces together well to build a team. Hopefully our GM can do this. I believe we have the core pieces now let's fit the depth or complementary players around them.

Free agency...the time to overpay for players their own teams are not willing to keep for those terms. Fewer and fewer players of impact go to free agency yet teams still seem to enter into bidding on depth type guys and in almost every case overpay.

Agree. Money is the motivating factor in sports and society as a whole.

Punch and Polian probably fans would say ere our best. We need to consider the time they held the position was much different. The free agency rules and expansion have changed things dramatically since those GM'S served. I think it's much more difficult to build and maintain a winning team today.

At the end of their careers RoR will come out ahead. I believe he's the better player.

You're BANNED!!!! RoR is much better all around hockey player than Reino and has much more time to have shown it. Not diminishing from Reino at all but I have to disagree on your apparent value of RoR.

This is how I feel. He may not fetch more now than at the deadline and we don't have him for a full season. I'm not trading him for anything less than a top three defenseman or first round pick plus a prospect. Don't think that's happening.

I'm in this camp as well. Wouldn't be shocked if Kane gets traded but don't really expect it. Not sure his value at trade deadline next year wouldn't be what it is now and it's not easy to replace him offensively on this team. He's worth more to us for a year than I think he will fetch for us now.

Carrier is not hard to replace. This has been talked about so much you would think the guy is a core piece of a franchise. He's probably a fourth line player. Not putting him down but with further development of our players he may not be more than a depth guy.

Carrier has become a board legend. Really guys, we are not losing "the Great One" here.
