  1. Gorges is not the worst but certainly needs to be your sixth or even seventh guy at this stage of his career.
  2. Wouldn't it be something if it's not Botterill?
  3. Pat Kane doesn't you're correct. Great talent.
  4. Great talent doesn't equate to great player. I think of Mark Messier and that type as a great player. Talent, ultimate leader and did whatever it took to win. We at times say great player meaning great talent.
  5. I tend to agree with this. Seen it happen. This comes from top down.
  6. Seems that on this board someone is not a fan of anyone. No matter who is appointed to whatever this board will have its critics. That's why it's not that influential in my thinking, just interesting back and forth.
  7. A company can have a president(oversees the business operations) the operation of units within that company (hockey/football) could be directed by president of....... or director of........ That doesn't mean the company's president is making hockey or football decisions.
  8. Wow Anaheim better get into this quick. True. Game over?
  9. Agree. Brandon is president of Bills/Sabres. That's not president of football/hockey "operations".
  10. If our goaltending stays at same level, we keep away from long term injuries to core players and upgrade our defense then all these combined would, I believe give us a shot for the playoffs. Also coaching must be better. All this is possible but one might argue improbable.
  11. While I'm not suggesting that Fenton is not qualified in my previous post I just don't see a big difference going with Botterill. I mean it's not his fault Pittsburg has Crosby or Malkin. Sabres now ha e Eichel,O'Rielly and Okposo. What we need is someone who can fit pieces around those players. Frankly, I am on board with Botterill or Fenton. I just don't see the sense in criticizing or putting one down because we favor the other. I can't seriously question either one being hired.
  12. Unless you're 74 years old like me.
  13. Okay. I didn't say it's all one way but you give me the impression that ownership is under employees. Sorry, when you own the team you're not obligated to have employees you can't work with or dictate to you. Yes, you need to be able to communicate with employees but not be letting them dictate to you. I've been on both sides of this. I respectfully disagree that owners should just go away and have nothing to do with the operation of their business.
  14. I really dislike you know who but what does that have to do with this discussion. There is another area here for that. Interesting.
  15. This game has really been great to watch. It's fun when I don't have a real favorite. Both Sens and Rags have been going end to end. Hard fought.
  16. You better believe as an owner I want people "I can work with". What kind of a business owner wouldn't? I'm beginning to think there is a bit of anti-Pegula sentiments who no matter what he does really doesn't matter.
  17. What does Fenton have for credentials that Botterill doesn't? Or is it just the attraction of a personality? Any GM in the league is a yes man if you're talking about answering to an owner. Okay, I'm getting the impression you don't like the owner based on you prefer confronting personality and not just who can build a team and organization. I liked Murray but you need to work with people. Fenton may be a good hire but no one has specifically explained why he's a better pick than Botterill.
  18. PensInitiative.com reporting their sources saying Sabres hiring Jason Botterill and announcement could come as soon as tomorrow. This posted one hour ago.
  19. I think the decision has been made.
  20. I think their attention to Bills business now is because they've finished the Sabres GM business.
  21. I doubt this really. His name would go on the cup in any case and salary not effected by what happens with Pens in playoffs. My guess is their waiting for this series to end and the Pegulas have also been occupied with Bills interviews.
  22. Might be he's been picked and has yet to officially sign a contract because of team in playoffs. My guess is after this series with Washinton he will join the Sabres. He had a second interview and no one else has as far as we know. Dreger hearing the interviews have ended tells me it would be a shock at this point if Botterill is not the guy.
  23. Good post. It's been my suspicion the way this came down your posts nails it.
