  1. Congrats on the win. My team slowed down the last few weeks and a few key injuries didn’t help. Wait until next year.LOL
  2. I see him as a Sebastian Aho type of player. I am not ready to anoint him as a sure fire superstar but he was excellent in the NCAA as a very young man and I was impressed with him being Canada’s best player at the WJHC at 17.
  3. I’ll be there, it would be cool to run into those guys in Prague.
  4. Lefty here so I followed those guys more. Mickelson was my guy for 30 years even though I wasn’t a big fan of his on screen personality. I understand his move to LIV financially, but it was a bit of a stomach punch the way he handled it. In the Jack vs Tiger debate I am in Jack’s camp because of longevity and top 3’s, top 10’s and such.
  5. Right handed Canadian. First sport was hockey, played left handed, not sure why. Next came baseball, left handed batter. Last sport is golf and left handed as well. Finding equipment was a challenge years ago but there is a good selection now. I recall reading that golfers were discouraged from playing LH. I cannot play any of these right handed with any real coordination.
  6. DG coaching rejected 3rd liners, sounds like a great recipe for success.
  7. There are some rumours about him being a couple of years older than what he says. One story I recall quoted Kovalchuk saying they had wanted to play together in the NHL since they were like 8 years old. Kovalchuk is two years older than Ovie.
  8. I know he’s never going to a tough, physical Dman. I watched him in the World Championships, World Juniors and the Olympics. He had the skating ability, reach and IQ to stand out in those events. In the NHL, his idea of physical is to turn his back on an opponent while pinning the puck on the boards, waiting for an opening. I am not asking for him to become Pronger, just to throw the odd hit when it’s available, stand up for himself in a scrum and push a guy out of the crease. He is still young and will get stronger so he will become better. If he tries to add 10% more grit that would give him more room and help his confidence.
  9. Rousek can go back to the Amerks and I’m not sure if Jost is eligible.
  10. I am interested to see where he could insert himself into this lineup. He and Komarov could be a future 3rd pair, twin towers.
  11. If he breaks it I hope it is not as a Leaf. They lose 4-1 to Tampa and the story here is Matthews getting his 63rd.
  12. They have another run left in them. They will miss Sergachev but he could be back later on.
  13. At the time of the trade I thought Krebs would slot in as a middle six C. He hasn’t done anything to date to warrant more than a 4C role. I believe it was James Patrick who said that Krebs might have to realize he may have to carve out a lower role for himself. A seasoned 3C acquisition would be my preference, just not overly seasoned like Staal was. There are enough good wingers around to have 3 scoring lines. Krebs can stay on the 4th line, realizing he needs to be solid defensively, win draws and bring some energy.
  14. Watching Vancouver in Arizona. Even the camera angles seem minor league in that rink. Does Bettman retire if they relocate to Salt Lake? He is probably the only reason they have been there so long. I think he wants to reign over one more expansion, fattening the owners wallets.
  15. I see Novikov got a goal and 2 assists tonight for the Amerks. Mule had better watch out.
  16. Good to hear. Imagine what a couple of years of strength training and growth will do.
  17. He still has a good shot but he is slow now, what will his speed be in two years?
  18. Imagine if a team had the balls to sign only one year deals. Everyone would be performance paid, all of the time. You could have a team of 95% effort in an 80% league. You would have to be a winning team in order for people to want to sign there. Back to reality. I think I am in the bridge camp. KA is near the max for long term deals. I like Mule but I think he jumped the gun on that one. Maybe he locks up 15 guys for 7 years so they are together forever. I like Quinn more but I would be leary to offer him a long term deal this early. What do I know, maybe locking them all up long term in today’s dollars with a rising cap is a great strategy.
  19. The only way he should be around is if there is a meaningful back to back game. He and Rochester will benefit from another stint and hopefully some playoff heroics to build his resume. I don’t think his confidence needs a boost but the reps will help.
  20. This captures the majority of their season.
  21. I know what you are saying but I still prefer Gretzky. We are having a Russian kid stay with us for the summer. His hockey season is over but his visa is good for a while and he doesn’t want to go back.
  22. At what point does he realize that Malkin and Letang haven’t kept up? He’s put that team on his back in the last few games.
  23. I am in Gretzky’s camp. It’s political but Ovechkin seeming to be cozy with Putin rubs me the wrong way.
  24. Entertaining win. UPL was good and lucky. Possession was really good, they moved the puck well. I am surprised that Washington was so listless when they are right there in the WC slot battle.
