They out chanced the Sabres but Lehner made some big saves. Scandella with a weak play on their goal. Reinhart and Gus playing well. Nice to see OK bag one. Confidence may spur him on. Our D need to be aware of these guys sneaking behind them for the stretch pass.- 272 replies

Even if we retain a lot of salary, I doubt he can be moved.

Exceptional status was given to McDavid, Tavares, Ekblad and Sean Day. This guy is looking to end up better than Day but not outstanding in his class like the others.

Leafs lose third straight game, Stanley Cup parade plans on hold.

My expectations were higher than this. I thought they would be a .500 team. I have not given up on the season, I've been a fan for too long. They better pick it up soon or the busiest thread will be the 2018 draft one. The tough part is living in "Leafs Nation". You all know how that may feel.

This question caught my eye. Toe Blake and Larry Robinson are indeed two of the best combined player/coaching careers. Most of the ones I've found are old timers but I would suspect today's money and years spent in the limelight would keep some stars from coaching. There could be more but these are the HOF players who I recognized as long time coaches. Alphabetical with games coached in the NHL. Sid Abel 891 Frank Boucher 527 King Clancy 222 Hap Day 546 Dick Irvin 1449 Red Kelly 742 Lester Patrick 604 Lynn Patrick 443 Bob Pulford 829 Milt Schmidt 770

This game was there for the taking, I thought we outplayed them. Sabres need some puck luck soon to get any momentum. The other option is for someone to put the team on his back and win a game. Jack?Robin?Sam?Risto? I don't know why Tennyson is on the PP and on for the last shift. I think Antipin would be a better option. I don't see any offensive ability from #5. Griffith brings nothing, I can't wait for ERod or Baptiste to get another shot. Gus didn't seem to get played much, maybe not 100% yet. Redmond is a temporary player, I'll take Bogo over him. I thought Okposo was better, trending in the right direction. He's still far from expectations. I don't miss Moulson.

Antipin's stretch pass led to our second goal today, no assist but a nice play. I like him and hope he keeps learning.
-
I hope he held off the celebrations until this game!

I hope Pu is getting back to his regular routine. He has had a poor start and his team is weak. He's on Team Canada's radar and it would be a fantastic opportunity for him to play amongst the best of his peers in Buffalo.

So what is Jbot’s plan for the Sabres?
French Collection replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I like your idea of banishing Moulson, there is no bang for your buck and that hurts the culture you want to create. I don't know what fan revolt will accomplish. A GM making a quick trade is risky because others know he is desperate. The Habs fans are up in arms over their start but I don't think their attitude will spark a winning streak. It may get their GM fired, but the season may not be saved. Our GM and Coach are new and need time to turn things around. I'm so fed up with losing it hurts, but I'm willing to give these guys way more time, even if we miss the playoffs again. I hate admitting this but I have to be realistic. -
Down 3 with 2 to go, would you pull the goalie?
French Collection replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
I can't believe I read this whole thread. There is merit to studying this and some analytics guy will come up with the proper odds of pulling the goalie at all specific times and deficits. To me it boils down to a gut feeling by the coach, supported by some numbers. Do you do it at random times during the game to give your team a boost? Risk the fans going home after the second period. -

The curious case of Rasmus Ristolainen: ?
French Collection replied to hockeyhound's topic in The Aud Club
New coach with a new system, he will come around. I think he will not be the stud we hoped for but a solid #2 or #3 D-man. Scandella will help him feel less pressure, and help in the key situations. Watching McCabe turn it around this early in the season shows what a jolt of confidence can do. Risto needs to play his game, physical, move the puck quickly and use some creativity on offence. Things will fall into place.
