This does look pretty bleak. One guy I'm thinking that could help in a few years is Pu. His numbers do mirror Baptiste's OHL output, however he is a center and has good faceoff stats. He could be a potential 3rd or 4th line C. He and Aslund may be filling those 2 slots in two years.

He definitely would not approach those numbers in today's game. Better goalies and coaching have tightened up the game. He also had Semenko destroying anyone that came near him. Lemieux was bigger and had to handle guys hanging off of him. Gretzky was winning scoring titles by tons of points, so he was dominant. He was intelligent and would find a way to get points in the modern game. He would be a beast in the PP. He was a rink rat and would surely put in the work to be the best. I'll guess that 140-150 points would be in his reach.

It's a game of chicken, the bubble teams will sort themselves out closer to the deadline and the domino effect will push those trigger fingers. My fear all along about holding Kane until the deadline was of his injury history. However, he is not playing like Kane so the chance of an injury is greatly decreased. He will crash and bang for his new playoff team.

Strong draft class, many great players. Vanek is a definite no. I see only Getzlaf, Bergeron and Burns as having a chance.
