GDT Sabres at Pens 11/14/17 7pm MSG WGR 550

If they can't get up for this game.....well, it just doesn't matter. Go Sabres! I want to be entertained. -
Does he have Bogo genes?

GDT Sabres at Montreal 7pm 11/11/17. MSG, WGR

Better game, that's a positive. Johnson played well. I thought it was Kane's worst game of the year, couldn't handle the puck. Jack seemed to not have much jam. Falk was very physical, effective too. Moulson's best game, still want him away from this team asap. Should've had 2 points, but.... -
Former Sabres D-man Bob Halkidis.

Viktor Antipin: Progressing quickly and quietly
French Collection replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I like his puck handling skills. He seems to have his head on a swivel and has good situational awareness. He lacks the size to be physical but body positioning can make a difference. I think he can be a 4-5 D-man who helps on the PP. -
Moulsonemia: feeling lethargic.

Time to get the PP rolling again. These guys GAA is 31st and their PK is 30th. Burn 'em! -
The "I sometimes break a sweat" thread
French Collection replied to darksabre's topic in The Aud Club
It's a lot of fun in the spring. I only have 30-40 maples to tap. But I get a few gallons of syrup over a 3 week period. I don't eat the stuff, except when my wife makes butter tarts, so I give it away to family and friends. It's good exercise hauling the sap by pail on snowshoes. -

My recent exercise consists of cutting, splitting and stacking firewood. I've got about 10 cords ready for the house and the sugar shack. Drove stakes and installed the boards for my son's outdoor rink. Getting near freezing weather at night now. I don't get much cardio, just stay active puttering around the homestead and playing with the dog. -
Phil Housley — what is this guy's deal?
French Collection replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
Yeah, you don't see any team swag in old photos. I got my first jersey (Perreault) in '78. -
Anaheim is hurting at C, they had Grant out in OT last night vs LA. He has scored a few though.
-
The broadcast said they have six regulars who have not missed a game in the past two years. Only 5 man games lost year to date.

Phil Housley — what is this guy's deal?
French Collection replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
Interesting. I remember attending games as a kid at Maple Leaf Gardens and The Montreal Forum. The game was the only entertainment, there was electricity in the air and people were focused on the play. The buildings were loud and everyone was a hockey fan. It was affordable for most families. The games I attend now seem to revolve around an entertainment package. Many are there to be seen at the event. Distractions are everywhere and I find many are not really fans of the game. The modern game seems way more expensive, but I'm not sure how it compares with inflation factored in. -
His injury history should factor into this decision, he's missed 12-45 games every year in the last five seasons. JBot should have an idea of what it takes to sign him and if it's too much trade him before he gets hurt. Worst case scenario is him getting hurt at the deadline and he tests the UFA market.

Game was with Brynas, I believe that is SEL, Swedish Elite League.Adler Mannheim is a German team. I saw the CHL logo on the broadcast, it is a European club tournament. Champions Hockey League.
-
Keep in mind he's playing for a deal. I know he always plays hard but he's extra motivated this year. At the back of my mind is the fact he hasn't played more than 70 games in the last 5 years. I would like to keep him but I think he will want too much. Even if the Sabres match the money I suspect he goes elsewhere. He won't net a Duchene like basket because of his UFA status. 1st rounder + prospect?

GDT: Capitals @ Sabres, 7pm NBCSN, 11/7/17

Wow! A win. Jack should've had the empty net goal but Kane was able to get it. They were going into Alamo mode (a la mode?) for a while but were able to control the puck at the end. Pouliot doing what Okposo should. I didn't think he had those moves. I'm glad Moulson was out, Baptiste didn't do much but his speed and hustle were evident on every shift, something Matty doesn't have. Gus was good, Sam was meh. I didn't miss Tennyson. -
BPA is different for each team as they all have different lists. They probably don't adhere to this 100% due to positional needs but you need a list of some kind to guide you. Call it the next guy on your spreadsheet then.
-
As far as local scouting goes I'm sure their staff knows the WNY kids. When you're on the clock you should go BPA as most of us advocate. In my opinion, the most demanding fans in this regard are the Habs supporters, who want French speaking players. They have an entire junior league in their backyard yet only have a few of these guys on their team.

Its Ground Hog Day all over again, Yotes, Oilers, Sabres
French Collection replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Aud Club
I agree on letting him stay at centre to see how he performs there. He may get an upgrade at wing if someone from Rochester makes the jump. I want to see him put up some good numbers, but a bridge deal would help the team sort out some cap issues. -
Maybe Grigo comes back.

Anyone still holding out hope for the playoffs this year?
French Collection replied to mjd1001's topic in The Aud Club
As Neo stated, hope is not a strategy, but it's all I've got. I've been behind them for too long to change now. It's just PAINFUL to watch. We do have dumb and dumber odds of making it, but until we are 10-12 points out of contention I will hope. If I lived near Buffalo I would probably have seasons tickets, but that is because I am retired and love watching hockey. -

Draisaitl deal may haunt the Oilers. McDavid is the real deal, however. I know Leon was injured to start the season but I think he was more of a coattail rider than a Malkin. Malkin has played like an MVP with and without Crosby. Draisaitl is a big body and protects the puck well but he is not fast. Speed is a main component of the modern game. If he loses a step in a few years.... Doubt is beginning to creep in but I still think Sam may outperform Leon. -
Pretty good assets for Colorado. I don't think Duchene is worth all of that.
