  1. I hear talk of Kane for LA's 11th draft pick bu we need immediate help...we simply cannot afford to give a impact player who led the team in scoring for a player who may or may not ever make the team, and if he does, it will probably be 3 to 4 years down the road. If this talk is serious one has to decide what LA has NOW we could use
  2. I would have to think that Kyle's ability to return healthy at the start of next season will have a big say in whether we trade Kane this summer. Obviously if KO cannot return then we simply cannot lose him and Kane...there'll be no one left to score from the wings
  3. that is why it makes no sense for LA to be a trading partner...Kane will want BIG bucks as a free agent and LA isn't going to do anything to just have him for next season...
  4. totally aqree..there probably is no doubt Kane will walk if we hang on to him and then we'll get nothing. I do not think he is all that attached to Buffalo and their fans and it won't be like say Stamkos who has played his whole career with Tampa. Kane will look out for one person and that's himself. We need to seriously explore what we can get for him now...
  5. would it not seem that pedigree plays a big part in players and their careers? There are many examples but most recently we see Tkachuk doing just fine on Calgary, which leads me to think that Foote just may the steal of the draft...
  6. also Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson...it would seem that Sam just may be the asking price for a stud D-man. A team like Anaheim cannot take on Kane and his salary...they need to lose salary and trading one of their prized defencemen for Sam would free up major money for them
  7. no way we buy out Bogo...Moulson maybe although i think the best way to go is to try and unload these contracts like the Leafs were able to do. And yeah, no way Fowler gets traded. Also lerner will be here...he is much better then is getting credit for. and Cal is gone gone gone...
  8. while we are hot-to-trot to draft a good young defenceman we need help on the blueline now...so really it will be a situation again whereby we will probably just draft the best player available regardless of position. Hopefully that new GM of our's will get the blueline straightened out this summer...
  9. It seems that what started as a good idea has blown up in the NHL's face. The coach's challenge has led to long delays, and calls being made when they are thought or appear to be the opposite. The funny thing is that the coach's voted it in but now seem to be regretting that decision. Do you like it or hate it? I think the natural ebb and flow of the game has been lost by calls being challenged now that would have gone forward in the "old" game. yes there were offside goals but did they not even themselves out? Interesting read anyways... http://www.wgr550.com/articles/news/bettman-coachs-challenge-working-exactly-they-were-intended
  10. Funny cause Laviolettte is doing great but remember he was fired out of both Carolina (after winning their only Cup) and Philly...seems all coaches wear out their welcome at some point (even lindy who I thought may be here forever!)
  11. I think you are right but I just don't want to see the Kane thing drag on...I actually hope we just re-sign at 5 years at 6 mil...that'll work
  12. I started this stupid thread and have to admit I am more and more not feeling the Vanek idea...but, I do think we should move Kane if we have no intention of re-signing him. he is a massive talent and a great asset and I am just afraid we'll let him walk to UFA like we did with drury and Briere without getting anything for him. I don't think we have to worry about Vanek cause new GMJBotto likes young & fast (see Pittsburg), not old (or aging) & slow
  13. I do think that there is a lot more talent then we have seen with the Amerks (and the big team for that matter), Proper leadership and coaching should make a world of difference at both levels
  14. strange to think how he had it all...a great life with everything...and apparently is throwing it all away. Sad
  15. Poor Tiger sure is having his problems these days. Now he has been arrested for a DUI http://www.wgr550.com/articles/news/tiger-woods-arrested
  16. best I can see from his various career stats coaching is has never coached the US National team just NHL (NYI, Carolina with Cup win,Philly and now nashville)
  17. Interesting article...really, only a 2nd round draft pick and some player for kane? Seems low... http://www.thehockeynews.com/rumors/article/rumor-roundup-sabres-mum-on-plans-for-evander-kane#cxrecs_s Reports suggest the Sabres will give their new coach a say on what to with left winger Evander Kane. The Buffalo Sabres' recent hiring of Jason Botterill as their new GM has resurrected the trade speculation regarding left winger Evander Kane. The 25-year-old's off-ice problems last summer made him a fixture in this season's rumor mill. Speaking to WGR 550 on Wednesday, TSN insider Darren Dreger speculated whoever Botterill hires as the Sabres new coach will want a say in determining Kane's future in Buffalo. Meanwhile, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman told Edmonton's 630 CHED Botterill declined to comment specifically about Kane. Friedman suggests there's a sense the Sabres must make a decision soon about Kane, who's a year away from unrestricted free agency with a $5.25-million cap hit for 2017-18. He feels the club must re-sign him or place the winger on the trade block. Dreger and Friedman noted trade rumors this season frequently linked the Vancouver Canucks to Kane. He's a Vancouver native and the Canucks need scoring depth. Friedman said he hasn't heard of any specific clubs with interest in the veteran forward. If Botterill shops Kane this summer, Dreger speculates the asking price could be upwards of a second-round draft pick and perhaps a player. He adds he hasn't heard of anyone making a package offer for Kane since joining the Sabres. In his eight NHL seasons, Kane's tallied 20-or-more goals three times and exceeded 40 points four times. However, his off-ice issues, inconsistent play and high cap hit for next season make him difficult to move. Any club willing to take a chance on Kane could be reluctant to part with more than a third rounder for his services. They could also squeeze Botterill to pick up part of Kane's cap hit or take back a toxic contract in return. Kane, however, seemed to turn a corner this season. After returning from a rib injury, he was among the Sabres' best players. If he's matured and put his troubled past behind him, perhaps Botterill could consider re-signing him. If Kane is shopped it's unlikely he'll join the Canucks. While they need scoring it appears management is engaging in a full-fledged rebuild, putting the focus on younger, more affordable players.
  18. Such a amazing talent...being 59 and growing up in the late 60s and early 70s I was so into music and it was plentiful. Today is a bunch of crap being passed as music...Gregg, along with so many others, produced so much wonderful music and the memories live on forever..RIP
  19. I think Kane played with Oreilly didn't he? Anyways, we would see Vanek take up some of the even-strength scoring if we traded kane and of course we would get something in return as well.Hopefully the new GM is as good as we like to think he'll be and he'll do what the leafs did so well...get out from under some really bad contracts and give us room for not only Vanek but young guys to fit in as well...
  20. this is awesome... https://youtu.be/e4fEZkeQViI
  21. the big problem with trading Kane is that most teams that would want or need him (Anaheim, Rangers) already are in cap hell and adding a 5 to 6 million dollar player may just be impossible. Vancouver would make more sense but who do the have we'd want (PLEASE not the Sedins)
  22. The Buffalo Sabres announced today that Dan Lambert has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Rochester Americans. "I would like to thank Dan for his hard work and contributions to our organization during the last two seasons and I wish him the best in the future," Sabres General Manager Jason Botterill said. "I felt this was the right move for both the Sabres and Amerks and we will begin the process of searching for a new head coach immediately." Named the 31st head coach in Amerks franchise history, Lambert posted a 32-41-0-3 record during the 2016-17 season, his first in the American Hockey League. Prior to joining the Amerks, Lambert spent the 2015-16 campaign as an assistant coach with the Buffalo Sabres following six years with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League.
  23. Just heard that Dan Lambert has been relieved of his duties as head coach in Rochester. I guess we need two coaches now, so let the guessing begin
