  1. Strange how certain GM's keep their job...Jim Benning has really been bad for Vancouver yet still there...meanwhile all quiet on he Western front (or more to the point the NHL front)
  2. I still think many are under-selling many of the players on this team,..there is far more talent then we have seen. Foligno is a great example of a player who has never fully reached his potential. I think with proper coaching and leadership both on and off the ice we will see a significant improvement in many of our players. If one looks at successful teams we see that every year players reach or play over their expected limitations. The Leafs had just about everybody play over their heads. And I think little Tyler Ennis may be one of the biggest surprises...
  3. totally agree...I think we move Kane because there is this new mandate to have good, issue-free locker-room and Kane with his previous issues is a sure victim of this...just as we never seriously considered Tochett because of his previous "issues"
  4. I have to think that because of he mandate to hire only top-notch people with no previous "issues" Tochett was never in the mix cause of his previous "issues". Think Howie was the right call all along and all joking aside, Lindy as a assistant coach would actually be a pretty good move...
  5. well that's good news..I was worried we'd all be happy with the new GM and coach we wanted but nope...here we the first negative before Howie is even named as the new coach! I personally think GMJBotto & Howie are good additions! What's next?
  6. strange if they sign him hen leave him unprotected...great for Vegas I have to think there is more to this. Maybe Vegas agrees to take some salary (like Moulson and/or Bogo) if we sign and leave Ullmark unprotected
  7. no. there was a thread about the best contract or whatever and certainly Ronaldo fits in there with what he makes
  8. not too sure why we are in a big rush to dump this guy when he is still very young (by goalie standards) and we paid a hefty price for him in the first place. I have no way of knowing whether he may be a "cancer" in the dressing room but otherwise by all means sign the guy and move forward onto more important issues such as our defence. Antinpin was good start but there's still work to do there and with the defence getting better, Lehner will look and play better too
  9. You were talking about nice contracts somewhere on here..how about Ronaldo and his $40 million per year contract and of course he also takes in another 40mil or so from endorsements. his net worth is estimated at 400 million! not bad...
  10. really is strange how a team can look so good or so bad...both these teams taking turns playing Jekyll and Hyde. Guess this explains why the Sabres looked lik ethis throughout the season...one game good, next game awful. If Pittsburg and nashville can do that, then I guess we should accept the Sabres being that way too
  11. Oilers will want a d-man in return for Eberle...they moved closer with Larrson but know they need at least one more top d-man
  12. Sam's worth or value in any trade will be much higher then kane's so I can see Bott's at least exploring the trade option but the return would have to be so enticing that we cannot refuse. Teams with those nice defencemen we so long for cannot take on Kane's salary so Sam is a much nicer option. We do not even know Bott's "mold" so who knows? Maybe he will like and keep Sam and resign like we all hope. something tells me he will be resigned
  13. things have sure changed...one cannot help but wonder how Gretzky and Co. would fare in today's game with goalies that look so friggin' big. If you see highlights of many of the goals scored the goalies look small and not very effective at times to say the least. Remember Rick Martin or Vaive blasting down the wing and letting a slapper go and the goalie kinda falling and stumbling and not even coming close to stopping it! One never sees goals like that anymore...mostly in tight or screened shots now...
  14. Vancouver is in serious need of a rebuild and down the middle is where you would likely start so that makes sense. makes you wonder how they keep their jobs there in Vancouver after some really bad seasons. coach always takes the blame I guess...
  15. thought Makar was ranked higher...I'd love to get him. also, Vancouver sure is a mess...absolutely awful and not much ion the way of prospects. and of course those twins making far too much now. yikes
  16. did I miss something? thought Makar was higher rated then 7 or 8?
  17. yeah loved those Islander teams...Montreal from 76-77 was rather silly...their record was only 60-8-12. Yep, just 8 losses all year! Crazy. Then a easy 4 game sweep of Boston for the Cup.
  18. Apparently in some poll this team, the Oilers from 84-95, were picked as the greatest NHL team ever. Any arguments or are you in agreement with this? Regular seasonThe Oilers once again scored over 400 goals in a season. The Oilers also let in 298 goals, their fewest since the 1981–82 season. The Oilers would start the season with an NHL record 15 game unbeaten streak (12–0–3). Wayne Gretzky would earn 208 points, breaking the 200 point mark for the third time in his career, and win his fifth straight Art Ross Trophy, and his sixth straight Hart Trophy. Jari Kurri would score a career high 71 goals and 135 points, and win the Lady Byng Trophy. Paul Coffey had 121 points (37 goals-84 assists) en route to the first Norris Trophy of his career. On October 26, 1984, Coffey would be the last defenceman in the 20th Century to score four goals in one game. It occurred in a game versus the Detroit Red Wings.[1] The full story is here... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984%E2%80%9385_Edmonton_Oilers_season
  19. if we could flip whatever we get for kane for eberle then maybe...but we still need help on the blueline. but yeah eberle is prertty darn good and kinda lost in the shuffle over there in Oil country...
  20. Edmonton would never go for a kane for eberle trade...they wish to get rid of salary. and they will want lots for eberle in any trade. like Reinhart or someone young who does not make a ton of money as they'll have some big contracts to hand out soon enough. which reminds me, did they re-sign that 97 guy yet?
  21. jus hope someone does not grab him before we draft...that'd be our luck!
  22. it may or it may not..either way, lehner is proven while Peterson is just a prospect...still think he (Lehner) is better then he is getting credit for
  23. just reading where a prediction of the draft sees us taking Timothy Liljegren. Interesting looking prospect sounds pretty darn good... http://www.mynhldraft.com/2017/NHL-Draft-Profiles/Timothy-Liljegren
  24. I also think new GMJBotto comes from a organization that would never keep a player that has caused the ruckus that Kane has...the more I think about it the more I become convinced that the GM will move kane and his pass-problems so they do not happen again in Buffalo...his value is also at the highest right now
