  1. The way I understand it he is still under contract with the Sabres, or at least being paid by TP and why not just transfer him or demote him to chief of scouting? he clearly is pretty darn good at that side of the hockey operations.
  2. your point of trading Kane leaves us with a very uninspiring left side is a big factor in trading Kane...I just think we either have to re-sign him to a long term contract ASAP or trade him...we cannot afford to not sign him then lose him to free agency ALA briere and Drury moves that I still lament to this day. at this point Kane is a big asset and we must use that in a good way
  3. My son went to a couple of Ottawa games this past year with friends (one versus the Sabres, the other against Washington) and he says that th e building is out ion the middle of nowhere, parking is a joke and getting in and out of the area is pathetic.Still cannot believe that it could not sell out for round 2 of the playoffs...imagine if the Sabres ever got to a round 2 these days???? tickets would be a precious item. actually at most arenas they would be
  4. I hear Adam Foote's son is a real good looking defenceman...love his pedigree. Anybody know where abouts he may be drafted and if we could take him?
  5. goaiies seem to take much longer to come into their own...but Lerner's number's already are pretty darn good. we also gave up alot so we need to get something out of it so sign 2 year contract and see how he progresses...he is young by goalie standards
  6. one of the best moves the leafs actually did was getting rid of vets with huge contracts...heck Kessel still produces but they even got rid of his contract. If Ennis or Moulson produced half as good as kessel I 'd say keep them but unfortunately they are both finished and I really do not think Vegas will take either. Would you if you were the GM of Vegas starting a team? I highly doubt it. we are stuck with those contracts and it sucks cause I would much rather play young guys such as Bailey Fasching Carrier Baptiste etc
  7. absolutely no interest in Beagle...truth is we cannot afford to spend big on a free agent for a 4th line center and need to develop one of our own to fill that spot...
  8. at this point he may be lucky to get any contract as a free agent...some good players got pushed into retirement or playing elsewhere as no one signed them last year or the ,year before...
  9. That Callan Foote has great pedigree and looks like to be a good prospect that I would love to see in a Sabre jersey someday
  10. totally agree... Bettman will probably let Vegas win to reward them for giving the NHL like 3 Brinks trucks full of cash for a franchise. We'll go up if anything, to whatever the highest is that we can go (like 8 or 9)
  11. also thought the Sabre brass (meaning EXGMTM) promised Casey Nelson lots of ice time with the big club too...I thought he looked pretty darn good and at least he's fast but he's buried in Rochester. Cannot see Antipin allowing them to bury him down there too...
  12. okay, I can't help but ask who this guy is and why he wasn't fired? Is he like a yes-man for the Pegula's or something? I have no ideas where he came from but it seems to me he should have gone with the other two...I thought we were suppose to be doing this right and looking for a President and/or GM but if Brandon is already then I take it we are not looking for a new President. i was hoping we were going to do it right this time (should have known better)
  13. too bad cause he seemed to have the talent and is still young...just afraid he be yet another big bust on our defence and we need sure things, not guys who may or may not be good. Antipin certainly sounds like a step in the right direction...also agree we need another center who can actually win a draw once in a while
  14. yeah it almost seems like he just fires people to hand out more big over-inflated contracts when you can't help but wonder if it is even necessary (especially with EXGMTM)
  15. I still wonder if Tim Murray was not actually doing a pretty good job and deserved at least one more year at the helm. He clearly was the man who was in pursuit of KHL d-man Antipin who looks pretty darn good and only 245 years old.I have no doubt he would have also pursued a free agent d-man such as DelZotto or Alzner or whoever, and with Antipin and one other free-agent d-man along with Guhle the d would suddenly be quite possibly a strong point moving forward. EXGMTM made some great moves for the Sabres, obviously getting OReilly in a steal and also adding kane for Myers who continues to disappoint. The other guys in that package were basically for Bogo so that's a wash, but Bogo may excel under a new coach yet. I do think and agree we needed a new coach who would not shove a worn out, outdated system down the players throat, but it seems that Tim Murray was quite possibly on the right track all along. I wonder if he actually stood by Blysma so then Pegula fired both? Can't help but wonder and would find it ironic if a new President and/or GM says he wants Timmy back...would Pegula allow that? Just wondering...
  16. kinda like Nashville, does St. Louis not have a good defence? Seems to show that you have to have that real good defence to advance...makes one wonder what the leafs will do because they really do not even have one real goo ddefenceman (and don;t tell me reilly or gardiner are studs cause a few years back Leafs fans were ready to run them both out of town along with Kadri, JVR, Bozak and others)...
  17. really gonna make a big difference...
  18. Can't wait to see how the Carey Price contract thingee works out this summer. he is unrestricted after next year and of course everyone is saying he'll sign long-term this summer with Montreal at a billion dollars or close to it per... Thing is, Montreal is, with price, a playoff team but nothing more , not good enough to even win one series. If they pile loads of cash on Price, and already are paying some huge money to some pretty questionable contracts such as... Thomas Plekanic at (don't laugh) $6 mil for another season, Radulov is unrestricted and was paid $5,750mil and will want MORE!, Captain Max at $4,750mil for another 2 years. Andrew Shaw (again, don't laugh) 3.9mil for get this, another FIVE years (and you thin we got some bad contracts), Gallagher at 3,750mil for another 4 years, and of course Shea Webber at a mere $7,857,143 per season fore another 6 years, Markov is unrestricted )was $5,650mil) and probably wants more, somebody named jeff petry at (I hear you laughing) $5.5mil for another 4 years, another guy named Emelin is making 4.1mil so at this point, I am kinda thinking we look real good compared to this mess . How does Montreal fit Price in and have anything left while remaining at best a mediocre team that will never will much more then maybe, possibly one round in the playoffs
  19. Ennis is too small for a defensive shutdown guy...you need size to go up against other players and hold them up and constantly hit and annoy them like Kardi does so well..Ennis is too nice a player to do those things (gotta be a dirtbag). But, Tyler hopefully will come alive and be totally rejuvenated by a new coach and a new system that allows him to freewheel. I also do not see us making that big trade for that big defenceman so I am hoping that a new GM/coach will also a nice gain by Bogo especially. I do wish we could re-sign Kulikov who I still think is far better then we saw and still could be a good addition but I think he's gone-dy. Bet he excels next season on a new team under a new coach
  20. I see where WGR550 have evaluated Sam Reinhart's 1st two seasons and clearly are not impressed by his totals and more importantly attitude towards the game in year two. We used the 2nd overall pick to draft Sam and obviously expect BIG things. Maybe a new coach will do wonders and he will return to form he showed in the first year which most importantly means a change of attitude. Meanwhile, the most rpessing question at this point is how do we get a stud defenceman to go with Risto? I do think Guhle will be a special player soon, but in the meantime we need a clear #2 guy. We also of course could/can trade our pick at the amateur draft and maybe that could fetch us something good from say Anaheim. I am also for trading kane IF we will not re-sign him. If we have plans or thoughts to re-sign Kane then I woulds rather keep him over Sam because plain and simply, Kane knows how to score and does it very well. he was obviously our leading goal scorer this past season, even though he missed a chunk of games. This is not a easy decision and will be vital in the team moving forward. The Oilers gave Hall but Larrson has changed the whole dynamic of that team, and I feel a new defenceman could do the same for us (like maybe Fowler etc). Having said that, is there any area more important then deciding which way to go towards acquiring that defenceman we all know we so desperately need? By this, I mean of course once a new GM is hired...
  21. and furthermore he ain't worth anything more then 2 mill...
  22. God that's funny...I am still laughing as I try to type...I do not mind Kovo but we already have aging vets taking up valuable ice time from young guys who should be playing and learning as they go (as the Leafs did so well this year)
  23. Nasville's defense is pretty good too isn't it? Even with Subban LOL
  24. Not to put down the Rangers or Ottawa who are both pretty good teams, but clearly something is wrong when you have the two top teams playing before the conference final while two lower teams are playing, well... some other thoughts from Round One: If Carey Price don't win Montreal the game, no one on that team sure as hell is What's so different about this years hawk team from the Cup winners? If the Leafs had OReilly, Risto and Guhle (who they woul dbe playing now trust me) they may have won the series Is Nashville THAT good? Is St. Louis that good or is Minnesota just a strange team with a bunch of veterans who are great during the regular season but then can't keep up when the pace picks up come playoff time While we lament over and over if GMTM sorry, EXGMTM paid too much for Lerner (a first rounder, 21st overall), the Leafs gave two picks, a 1st rounder too (30th overall) and a 2nd round pick for Anderson. Anderson played great, but Lerner seems to be capable too and the trade doesn;t seem so bad or that EXGMTM gave too much Didn't think the Oil could win easily with McDavid only getting only 1 goal (2 actually but a empty-netter late in game 6) and only 4 points total...makes one wonder how he and the Oil will do versus Anaheim Was Boston really trying to give Ottawa the game yesterday? really, THREE delay of game penalties for shooting the puck over the glass in a row in the 1st period? Strange Ottawa did not score on any of the power plays, but Boston immediately scored on their 1st power play after killing off the 3 in a row penalties Being a Sabre fan I really did not pay much attention to the "new" way the NHL decide who plays whom, but let me tell you, it is pathetic! Really, the Pens and the Caps are playing now when that clearly should be the conference final... being a Sabre fan I forgot just how exciting and crazy playoff hockey is...boy what I'd give for someone, anyone to come in and turn this around and do whatever it takes to make our beloved Sabres a, wait for it...PLAYOFF TEAM!!!!
