  1. I disagree with this. The people on this board are the one's who are going to go to the extremes. Most fans are going to stop caring until the Sabres are relevant again and at that point they will be back. They aren't going to jump ship. They don't care enough to do that. They will find something else to provide them value. Day in and day out they just don't care enough. As for all the young children out there who will lose their connection to the Sabres. Stuff happens. Some day they will grow up to understand the business of the sport. The dynamics of human personalities. Until then, they'll make their decisions based on their limited scope of experience and what they are taught or see from the more experienced around them. The height at which you place your idols is directly proportional to the probability they come crashing down. They greater importance you place on your idols is directly proportional to the impact they will have when they hit the ground.
  2. If my family lived that far away they would probably never see me. My wife's sister lives 11 hours away. I only see her sister's family when they visit here (her parents are in Rochester). If I had only 2 weeks of vacation I can almost assuredly bet I would not be using it on that purpose unless there was some incredible milestone associated with it. If I didn't like them (and I don't really like my sister-in-law's family) I wouldn't even do it then.
  3. I obtained my PS5 by pure chance. I logged into the Sony site and they had a queue and I managed to draw a low number. I obtained my XSX by pure chance. I logged into the Walmart site and they had the All Access version available (it was actually available for over a week after I grabbed mine). I have tried the PS5 on every other site, but all the other sites are not protected against bots, etc. Sony's site is really good. Basically everyone queues up for 30 minutes and then they assign random numbers to those in queue. Now, I had 5 different sessions in the queue, but only 1 of those sessions was given a low number. It is brutal though because most retailers are doing NOTHING to protect against it.
  4. The entire Eichel saga reminds me of the political strategies these days. Keep putting out statements from all over that point to one thing to slowly wear down those who would have resistance to it (the fans). Eventually you get to a point where the fans are sick of hearing about and just want it to happen. They never wanted to happen initially but now the message is out there so much that it's fine.. just let it happen. I've never been 100% on the Eichel train. The season before last he really stepped up. This season is just an absolute aberration making it hard to judge anything. But at this point... I just don't even care any more.
  5. No comment that NY and Vermont are also open. A few exceptions, K-12, etc. But businesses are full go.
  6. Frankly they should get Tyce. Who wouldn't want the Sabres to have the Thompson Twins?
  7. Why? He knows the Sabres franchise has all kinds of questions. Questions about its owners Questions about its star player Questions about its second best player Questions about goaltending If I were an established coach and other teams had expressed interest in me, I would politely decline the interview while I talked to teams in much better situations. What's the upside for Gallant in joining the Sabres? Why even consider it?
  8. They key here is whether the player still qualified for LTIR. If Kucherov was healthy then he should have been returned to the line-up. Of course the Sabres and other teams get away with similar items like this throughout the season. We often see a player who has been in IR suddenly come back healthy as soon as there is another injury. How did that happen? Basically it happens because the team is keeping that other player on IR so they don't have to make adjustments to the roster. Injuries are not handled strictly in the NHL, it's that simple. Except, sometimes.
  9. I don't want to get in the water because there might be a shark. Oh, you went in the water? I guess I can too. Or... if we're going to die from a side effect at least we'll die together. All I can hypothesize about it.
  10. Around here? no matter what happens, disappointment happens.
  11. Totally. I was wondering how long Trotz might continue to coach. Didn't realize he's only 58.. I had figured he would be north of 60, although not by much. I guess it could be a few more years... so then you wonder how long the associate coach hangs around.
  12. And it makes you wonder if he'd take over for Trotz at some point...
  13. Sure, but if you lived closer to Vancouver or Calgary their fans may likely do the same thing. Just like Bills fans will show up in another stadium and break all the tables at Staples and then chant like maniacs. 🙂
  14. It could be that there are a lot of people that may have been exposed that it never impacted. Whether you consider them asymptomatic, having simply never gotten it, etc. How do you ever quantify that group? They're not going to the doctor because either they were never sick or not sick enough that it mattered. They were never tested because they just didn't care. Or perhaps, they simply just are not impacted at all. I don't even know if that's possible but I would suspect there's some level of exposure at which point the virus could take hold and that level varies for different people and that the level could be very high to the point one might almost consider them immune to it.
  15. His offensive output is nothing compared to a lot of posters on here. Sorry.. some days one needs to do this just to keep oneself sane. 🙂
  16. Are you assuming Okposo or Skinner would be willing to go to Seattle? (I am assuming those are the two horrible contracts you are referring to.)
  17. I have. I see die hard fans there to cheer for their team. Perhaps I didn't have the same experience? Were they obnoxious? No more than the Buffalo fans around them.
  18. Frankly, I'd just like to commend Ehlers for trying to fend off the morons who always want to fight right next to the helpless player on the ice. Falling on him, stepping on him with skates.. all kinds of things can go bad there. Ehlers has his arms out protecting Evans from what could be even worse.
  19. Now we argue and debate for another 7 weeks....
  20. Well played... I see what you did there.
  21. Imagine being the person who has to write up what gets said for each potential pick spot for each team. How much fun that has to be... 🙂
  22. I'd trade Skinner and Risto for Marner 🙂 Skinner might actually waive his NMC to go to Toronto. 🙂 Imagine.. Skinner being a regular season dud but a post-season stud and it making a difference in Toronto? Oh man.. I should not have started drinking so early.
  23. I like Marner too, but I don't like very many players for $11M AAV. I think I like McDavid for that... and I am done.
  24. People are arguing over many other things AND Johann freaking Larsson. I think the real takeaway here is that they are arguing.
