  1. Of course. And for all the documentation and awareness those corporate abusers have documented and shared there is little to no change in the behavior of the general public. The sci-fi trend of the intergalactic being run by corporations didn't just start when Trump became President. This has been the trend for a long, long time. The people just sit back and allow it. This is what prompts fiction writers to envision those dystopian futures. Hell, the other day I saw someone on LinkedIN refer to themselves as having a career in Human Capital Management. While people are resources, it really negates the humanity of it when you begin to refer to them as the same as a fleet of vehicles, etc.
  2. To be honest.. I'm not so much questioning Kadri (I wouldn't get him).. I was legitimately curious. How many years of continued playoff misses would people be willing to give up if they could be assured the Sabres made it this year? It's not really an attempt to insult the fan base but more a measure of where people's heads are at. I would say that naturally its unlikely they would miss the playoffs for 14 years after making it once... but I would have thought missing the playoffs for 14 years was highly improbable until the Sabres did it. It probably it still highly improbable, assuming the statistical norm of hockey decision making is made regarding how to build a team, etc. The Sabres are the perfect storm, for failure.
  3. Re: DC movies... Just too many remakes of the same characters over and over. Superman, just not doing it for me. I was at least intrigued with the Bale/Batman. But that's because all others up to that point were pretty lame. They had a chance to keep it going with Robin, but that died. Then we got.. Ben Affleck. Hell no. I just can't bring myself to care about vampire Batman or this new Superman.
  4. While this may be true for many it's not a cookie cutter plan. Which veterans does he need to outperform in camp? Zach Benson puts pressure on the quality NHL players, now. As near as I can tell he's not let the NHL "pressure" him at all. As for the lack of veteran presence, that's because they don't want to come here.
  5. It's fair. But if I told you I could guarantee the Sabres make the playoffs this year but then would miss the playoffs again for another 14 years would you take the deal?
  6. Like in the late night club of a small rural town in the middle of nowhere comedy? Because.. it's not funny? But somehow you know that the powers that be in those areas have some really good access to golf.
  7. Laughable. That said, an activist and caring population would document corporations that abuse pollution controls and the public would force a change. But we all know that won't happen as that takes work. More work at least than being outraged that a transgender influencer doing a Bud Light commercial. The phrase that pays. Water, essential for life! Until you breathe it.
  8. This happens for every president, where ever they go. Does it really matter how much he golfs? This really comes across as a desperate reach for things to criticize about Trump when there are so many more obvious and more important criticisms to be made.
  9. I think the Sabres look at analytics like them having the most 5v5 goals in the league and think, it's really not that important as that has not translated to wins. We all know that as well. The Peterka trade is not all about replacing offense but improving overall defense so the team can potentially give up a few 5v5 goals for while reducing the goals against (in all situations) by more. I think Doan is a middle 6 player. He will almost certainly be a character player in the lineup who leads by example. I haven't followed him recently and certainly some things are attributed to him because of his father. However, from what I recall at draft, he's got that motor and desire to dig out pucks. The team is not good at that. I will remain optimistic that he will be a player that fans really enjoy watching and he's built as a player who can thrive in playoff hockey. Naturally they have to get there first.
  10. Add summary or thoughts? Add summary or thoughts? Add summary or thoughts? No. I actually don't remember that. When was the last time character was the first trait the people sought in a President? I think that's a really good question. Who was the last President that would fit that statement? Even those who seem to have been of good character eventually have their skeletons revealed. I'm not sure the American people have valued character for a long, long time. It's not a surprise to me given the idolatry they've demonstrated.
  11. You just never know. I don't watch the news, there's literally nothing interesting about it. It's either biased or reporting on stuff that will only wear me down on how terrible society is. So, I received a text yesterday morning from a family member asking if my son was okay and safe. I had no idea why he wouldn't be as to the best of my knowledge he was still sleeping in his room. (He was actually still there, until I woke him up at 12:30pm because he had to be somewhere at 1pm. But this post isn't about that.) So I asked why.. and I was sent a link to a person being shot and killed at the Wegman's warehouse in Rochester. This is the same warehouse my son works at and the article said someone in their 20's was shot and killed. Well, my son is in his 20's. He would have been walking out of work at the time the shooting happened, had he not called in sick that day because he wasn't feeling well. Now, from the original article, and certainly the updates this morning, it sounds very targeted. That said, I am thankful my son only has to live with knowing it happened versus being there when it happened. They arrested the alleged shooter in Knoxville, TN. You just never know in this world. I don't dwell on it. I've had a gun put into my chest. It's never of a matter of if we'll die but when we'll die. That said... no one should have to go through these things. They are not things people should have to "process". So, about those Sabres... yeah, can't get worked up over it.
  12. N I L That's all folks.
  13. The red or the green? 🙂 Hopefully he offered both. The greatest aspect of that beer is that it is supposed to be less than 4% ABV.. Charlie is an icon. Relax, Don't Worry, Have a Homebrew. My reading only went up from there to reading about advanced chemical reactions, etc. I didn't understand it.. just knew what the outcome was. I had a pretty good bottle cleaning setup. "Sterlizing" was never needed. But good cleaning and sanitizing them was. Still that was nothing compared to moving to kegs. I have so many of those sitting around here right now.
  14. Yeah, hopefully you're going after more of the Sam Adams Cherry Wheat than today's fruit bombs. Cherry Wheat is probably the beer that fully opened the path to non-lager drinking. I was drinking some craft before then but once out of college things changed. Playing hockey late nights and then going to Doc and Den's in Tonawanda, they always had Cherry Wheat and I got onto that and never looked back. I haven't had one of those in a long time now and I have no desire to either.
  15. This is the end of this thread.
  16. This post was deleted. The next one will be deleted. You will be removed.
  17. Of course that's the case. But if the Bandits and Bills were not good things would change. There's also a different dynamic where Bills fans only have a handful of games to attend in any given year so it becomes more of an event. But the point is that viewing percentage can lead to incorrect analysis of actual value given that the number of actual people showing interest by watching is lower. It does if it's not weighted when they do it in aggregate. Of course this is the kind of stuff that gets done by marketing, etc. to spin a narrative. They could be. I don't know them. I'm not talking football either. I am not saying the NHL should not care about Buffalo. I am merely saying that viewing percentages can demonstrate the relative interest to the population in any given market but that it cannot be used to compare market to market as the actual numbers can vary widely. Yes, Southern Ontario is likely not included in these numbers but it does not matter when measuring nationally televised, non-Buffalo Sabres events. In this case we are talking about a hockey event that did not include the team in the market. As such it's reasonable to assume some percentage (likely a high percentage) would have watched those games whether the Sabres were in Buffalo or not. The statistic in question was not a measurement of viewership of Buffalo Sabres games. It was a measure of interest in a nationally televised game. It stands to reason that the Florida markets were at the top as their team was in the game. It's a testament to Buffalo that so many are interested in the games. However, percentages don't translate directly to spend. Actual people spend actual dollars. If you use just a percentage then you could have a town of 100 people who all love hockey and tuned in. Do you think the NHL cares about those 100 people just because their viewership was 100%?
  18. Cross-data source aggregators... Gotta love them.
  19. LISTEN UP.. I'm only saying this once. Stop calling each other names. It's childish. There will not be a warning, you will be removed from the forum. There's no need to call someone an idiot, clown, pedo-lover, etc. Just cut the crap. Stop calling people pedo supporters, etc. Stick to the known, undisputable, facts about topics related to Epstein. But keep in mind, there are Republicans AND Democrats linked to him. No one is safe from that linkage. Using highly incendiary topics such as pedophilia require a high level of responsibility to go with it. Raise the level of discussion or stop discussing it here.
  20. Yeah, the yeast and locking in fermentation temps makes a big difference. However, if you brew long enough you get a sense of what it will taste like. Now, if you are not paranoid about sanitizing then you really are in for the unexpected. I was more concerned about sanitizing surfaces than I was measuring anything or timing, etc. It was a small price to pay to make sure I didn't completely waste money and time. All hoses, connectors, etc. sat in a bucket of sanitizer. All work was performed on a stainless steel table that was sanitized. Never had an infected batch.. whew. The times I wish I brew now are for times when I get a hankering for something brewers just don't make. Things like Juniper Wit Beer, Baltic Porter, Foreign Extra Stout, coconut IPA, etc. Until the past year I might have thrown west coast IPA into that list but thankfully places around here are making those again... it was only a matter of time before someone decided 72 hazy IPAs didn't provide enough differentiation to matter. Hell, Birdhouse Brewing in Honeoye has a Grodziskie on tap. That's something you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere. So I've been down there a bit more often than usual because it's an incredible style. Abandon has a Peppercorn Saison on tap.. that belongs in my list above as well. Saisons, really good ones, are too hard to find and Peppercorn Saison is amazing for summer. I brought a 4 pack home after visiting.. because driving an hour to get the beer on tap really doesn't make financial sense. 🙂
  21. These ratings are percentages right? And that matters since the league makes money on people, not on percentages. not scientifically gathering population to make sure all sources are the same and I am rounding but: Buffalo - 1.125M = 61K viewers Pittsburgh - 2.457M = 103K viewers Las Vegas - 80.5K viewers Detroit - 4.3M = 148K viewers Minneapolis - 3.75M = 124K viewers Boston - 4.9M = 162K viewers Denver - 3.05M = 94.5K viewers In the end, Buffalo is the lowest in that list to actual people who spend actual money. It's good to know that Buffalo has a strong percentage of hockey fans but in the end, it's a small market with a lower amount of wallets to be opened. Now, factor into all of that the cost of living in each of those locations and the amount spent on "entertainment" and that's what REALLY matters. Not sure how high Buffalo ranks.
  22. Sorry, I was really not intending my post as a criticism but more of an observation and certainly not meant to get you to respond like that. It's all good with me if you used a thread to post your own collection of thoughts. It's all good with me if you respond in multiple threads. I accept the difference you were referencing. I just was finding it interesting that the club is littered with Trump examples so I thought maybe there would be more discussion in here simply on the older platforms that differ so much from today. In any event.. not a big deal and sorry if you took my post as a critique of your posting or your message, it wasn't meant to incite.
  23. And at that point in time the gossip around the league was that Jon Cooper was on the hot seat.. hah!
  24. There actually is an argument to this? You are too kind.
