  1. I agree with you. I am hoping he has the support to stick to his style. I have faith.
  2. Yes. I think that there's a reservation to assert an agenda into the mix. If I had to vote, I would vote Cole's. I love that place. The thing is, you have to drive a bit to get there and parking can be obnoxious. Also, I still want to hit up Pizza Plant prior to the game.. probably get there around 11:30... anyone interested? If not, I could be persuaded to join others elsewhere prior to the game.
  3. I think Ottawa is really somewhat restricted in what they can get in return. They're going to take the fair deal whether it comes in division or out of division. I wouldn't be surprised if Ottawa isn't letting teams also talk to Duchene. Curious just how much Botterill would feel pressured to over pay just to try and get a player of that level in the mix to try and speed up the timeline so more people feel good about the progress he spoke about.
  4. And yet Eichel and Reinhart are setting career highs in points. The Sabres have a league top goal scorer in Skinner (yes, for how long remains a question). The Sabres have the best defensive prospect in the league in a long time. They've improved their goaltending (even if lately it seems suspect). I think it's irrational (yes, fans are irrational, but you used the word sensible) to hold Botterill and Housley accountable for the mistakes of the owner and the prior management. I might argue that a sensible fan would recognize those items and also recognize that while this team was not as good as the 10 game win streak this year showed, they are certainly capable of playing ALMOST to that level and that with a few more tweaks the next level is closer than it was any of those prior 8 years you are referencing. Just trying to help recognize the things that are improving on this team compared to prior years, despite the record.
  5. Take it easy Will... ? WTF do we keep you around for if you can't bring back Clippy?
  6. It's the day before SS Meetup #3. Last Friday my company lost a lawsuit that many thought they would win. This is almost assuredly forced the company go into Chapter 11. Many of us are rightfully worried that we will lose our jobs when that happens. We'll likely get bought out once the debts are reworked. Our bonuses from 2018 were due today. There was some question whether we would get them. Overnight the bonus was deposited into the bank account. That was a very pleasant surprise to wake up to. I don't ever rely on getting the bonus, but then again, I knew we had earned the 2018 bonus and what it would be at the end of the year. It wouldn't have killed me if it didn't get paid, but I was feeling a little like Clark Griswold. It does help tremendously should we suddenly lose our jobs within the next few weeks. Oh.. and it's the day before the SS Meetup #3. YES!
  7. Let's see if he gets a call from DPS. Better odds that the Sabres win the Cup this year.
  8. You've been fine. No worries. It would be for no longer reading a thread once you've decided you've seen enough. The same as ignoring a poster I suppose.
  9. Swedish Chef. your avatar.
  10. Fair point. It was not my intention. My apologies.
  11. Is that the other ballet out of Canada?
  12. There was a response here. I'm deleting it. If you read it.. then you did. I'm realizing I'm not in the best state of mind to be posting right now.
  13. No? I had a recollection that beer seemed to be a buck or two more. Either way.. it's all good. Whatever is the consensus works for me.
  14. I think the team can be improved and still not be playing well. I think his moves have improved the team both now and for the future. This team CAN play better, but that's on the players right now. The coaches are coaching the right thing. The players have to believe in themselves again. They might have easily slipped back into the "Oh no, we suck again." mentality and are having a hard time getting out of it. It's like telling someone who suffers from depression, "Just cheer up!" It's not that easy.
  15. We've all seen threads where someone jumps in just to crap on the thread and people respond "Don't come in here if you don't like it". Is it that unreasonable? There are threads on here that I'm not interested in jumping through. If there was an ignore feature it would be helpful. I figured I would ask. As for your initial response and my response. Given some of the antagonistic responses I've had from you in the past, the guard is always on. I'm also very edgy right now because of other things. So my apologies for missing your intention.
  16. That Friedman note sounds like someone is playing the media in the negotiation. There's a lot you could read into that and even extrapolate on depending on how nuts you want to make yourself. For example: Has Skinner seen enough in the locker room to up the ante with the Sabres and begin leaking terms to the media? Perhaps force the hand of management. He was happy before, but now he's seeing what things are like and he might not like it. Then again, it might not be any of that. And yes, it would be wonderful if they could move Skinner at the deadline with knowledge that he only wants to come back to Buffalo in the summer. I'd love to be that optimistic.
  17. Would you say that Tampa might Bork them with the rock?
  18. So, if I don't suffer I am not a fan?
  19. What an incredibly unhelpful response.
  20. It will be interesting to see the impacts of this in the United States as well. There are a good portion of left leaning supporters who point to Trudeau as a poster child for what a leader can look and talk like. The play he got when he spoke about quantum computing was unbelievable. It pared straight up against Trump and his knuckle-dragging talking points. They won't have this golden child to trot out. It's good that these things come to light though. People need to be more invested in their leadership. It'll be some tough days for Canada, to be sure.
  21. I should add. NYS is a ----hole to do business with. This state will continue to shrink and while it does that it will continue to try and resolve the problem by taxing the rest of us to make up for the shortfall. You can't tax yourself to prosperity. I would have liked the Amazon HQ to be built in in NY overall, but not at $1.2B in tax breaks. It seems every time I hear about a company getting large tax incentives to bring their business into the area (the state), etc. It's usually followed by some garbage about how after a few years there were issues were not resolved. They pocketed money and there are far fewer to no jobs to show for it. Organic growth is what is needed. Many smaller to medium size businesses build a much stronger fabric than a single large fish. Granted, there are large fish, especially in NYC, but Amazon would be an extremely large fish and would hold a lot of sway over the state. After all, look how many cities put bids in to get Amazon to show up at their doorstep. Amazon could move its warehouse operations elsewhere with little pain and leave NYS high and dry. That would be the continual threat hanging over politicians heads. Imagine going into a negotiation and the Amazon people say, "Do you want to be the person who is responsible for 25k jobs disappearing overnight?".
  22. To be perfectly honest... and absolutely shallow? I like her name. I don't know much more about her. I've got enough depressing things going on in life that I don't find myself wanting to read political items right now. But, if she has a moral center... that's a start. I don't even care which side of the aisle a politician is on.. morality is something that escapes the vast majority of them.
  23. Is there an ignore thread function? I don't like to ignore posters, but I would love to not have to click through these threads every day. Yes, I know i could go to the main listing, but using the next unread topic at the bottom is super convenient.
