That was your 16k post I think. The Sabres have not won a Cup since you started posting. You should probably stop. ?
-
I'm in favor of the GDT standardization. The mysticism over changing it up, who starts it, etc. is all garbage. The Sabres have never won the Stanley Cup so every format taken to date has tried and failed. Pretty sure it's time to just say, it has no impact and make it easier to find and read.

Weeks like this are when I am glad I work from home. School will be cancelled... there's no doubt. My biggest concern will be how the dogs handle it. It'll be too cold for them to be out more than a minute or two to do their business and they'll hate even doing that.
-
Why? Because wouldn't this forum be better if we were focused on having a discussion with the intent of being more educated as opposed to playing the equivalent of the 5 year old "I know you are but what am I" game? For the record, I said nothing of building relationships in my post. https://www.icehockeysystems.com/blog/1/1-3-1-power-play-5-options Basically, 1 player around the goal crease, 3 player across the mid-ice with two shooters on their off-hands on each wall and a player at the top of the zone on the blue line. The link above will show different methods of employing it.

The Leafs will have 27 contracts next year. 13 players on the roster and roughly $60M already on the books. Their big names are Matthews and Marner. If the cap goes to $85M (a $6M jump). The Leafs can sign both, let's say $11M for Matthews (despite Pi's $12M assertion) and $8M for Marner. That leaves $6M on the table to get another 5 skaters on the books just for the NHL team. What's Kapanen going to get? The Leafs will have to get creative and they will be thin on defense still. Reilly, Zaitsev, and Muzzin will be their top D. It's a good trade for Toronto who needs to do all they can to win this year. They're going up against the Lightning. That said.. they may have put themselves in a tight spot for next year. They'll likely make the signings and play thin and then be back stronger the following year when a few more salaries come off the books. Question is... who do they have coming up?

He probably learned it from here. Yes, some teams actually do run a power play from behind the net. https://thecoachessite.com/2018/05/20/behind-net-powerplay-formation-driven-analytics/ https://www.coppernblue.com/2011/9/29/2435373/behind-the-net-power-play-tactics-with-coach-bob-nielsen https://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-to-bulis/canucks-have-already-used-similar-tactics-to-switzerland-s-world-junior-power-play-1.23564814 So, for what it's worth. You are wrong. Simply and decisively. If you put more energy into searching than asserting you'll also find references to the Gretzky led Oilers running PPs time from behind the net/below the goal line. The 1-3-1 is flavor of the month. Like any system, it can be effective. At the same time, given that so many teams are running with the 1-3-1 it also makes it easier for defenders to defend. They see it night in and night out. That's the point of changing it up. Your tone with people on here is ridiculous. The point of a forum is engage in discussion and the very way you phrase things work in opposition to having a discussion. You already admitted you are aware of it. Perhaps you might want to put some of the energy to use on improving your communication skills.

Good lord that things looks insane. I knew about chimney regulations in regards to height, etc. Just never heard of a high-wind cap. Honestly I have no idea what is on my chimney. I never paid attention to it. I guess I will have to get out and look at it. I need it inspected anyway.
-
I have never even considered this. Is there a regulation regarding this? I don't even know what is on my chimney. We don't use it much, but it would be good to know.
-
I would agree that's where it belongs. However, that conversation would be deleted there too. ?

Nice... I bought a PS4 late last year... now I have Xbox/PS4/PC. I basically never use the Xbox anymore (it's for the kids). Still only play NHL or Call of Duty.. I have RDR2 but I can't find interest in playing it. Probably because I play too much Destiny 2 on PC.
-
I'm estimating we're at a foot of snow now. When I go outside to clear it I will know more. No rush. I'm warm inside, nowhere I need to go. All kids activities canceled.

I always found it interesting that this is an actual thing. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3001541/

No. There is a remarkable difference in how we end up with those things. The assumption was not based just on race. Once and for all, and I would ask that everyone get it right, I said. It seems that being a white corporate executive somehow raises the probability of engaging in sexual harassment. I did not say being white, I did not say black corporate executive, I did not say white DMV workers., I spoke of a group that was characterized by more than their race. I didn't even say that all of them do it. I even stated that it probably is not a race factor and that race is a byproduct of the situation (that most corporate executives are white, older men) Your referenced examples are a bit more extreme, do you not think? My "toxic whiteness"? I'll go ahead and say this, that kind of commentary is completely uncalled for by anyone on this forum, let alone someone who is supposed to police good behavior. Also, at no point did I say it's okay to slur whites, and only whites. Why is it that you insist on this narrative? It's simply untrue, there's no evidence of it. The fact that you chose those words to misstate what has been said is out of line. You clearly are not listening or do not understand what is being said but most assuredly I have no said what you claim. I'm sure it's best this whole conversation ends because it seems that people either want to draw inappropriate parallels or completely mischaracterize what is being said and on top of that throw around insults.

Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
LTS replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
I did not see them. I think politicians are petty. If nothing else Trump is uncaring enough to not care about hiding it. -
No, I did not do research. Much like we evaluate individual hockey abilities on this forum, I used the eye test. Is it reasonable that people could have an exploratory and educational discussion surrounding the topic? Yes. Keep in mind, my initial statement used the words "it seems" and "higher probability". It did not label all of them just that those in those positions seem to be more frequently engaging in those transgressions based on media reports. If it turns out incorrect, then we all end up more educated on the subject which is the point of a discussion. But yes, it is okay to state assumptions in public, because they are assumptions, not fact. I never said it was a fact and that is actually an important fact here.

So Monday afternoon I received a call from my boss.. I was informed that Tuesday they were cutting positions across the company and that my job was going to be eliminated. He then informed me that they reached out to another group and got me a job there (similar to what I do now). It's a pure lateral move. I was then asked, do I want it? Naturally, I said, do I get the separation package if I say no? The answer was no, because I was no longer being eliminated, just re-assigned. My (now-former) boss is a good guy, so I basically said, "That kind of decides itself right?" We laughed. The new job has some promise... but man... to be 1 day away from losing your job and finding out about it. At the same time, knowing that you are a strong enough employee that they wanted to find me another spot... Strange week...

Didn't Gretzky say something about how he sees a little of himself in Petterson? I think that would fuel that fire. If Dahlin has a strong second half he'll get serious consideration. He's going to be at the mercy of his team however. He might get a few more goals, but he'll need to ratchet up the apples and that means someone on the team scoring.

GDT - Sabres @ Vancouver - January 18, 2019 - 10:00 PM - SNP; MSG-B
LTS replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
The Varsity hockey team uses Friday nights for a pasta party. The team leaves practice on the bus and gets dropped off at one of the players' houses. This week we are sharing the duty with a few other families. It's an awesome experience where 22-25 high school kids swarm a buffet of food (tonight is garbage plates and mac & cheese). It's like the Tasmanian Devil going through your kitchen. They eat a ton, have a great time. But, for the parents, it's even better. First, you watch your kid be a part of his team. Second, you definitely drink to survive. The point of this story? A late game means I will almost assuredly be speaking in cursive at puck drop! Let's Go Buffalo! -
I'll answer this succinctly. Would I say the same thing? No. There is no apparent pattern that implicates non-white executives of engaging in similar behavior. This may be for any number of reasons. As for would I say the behavior is wrong? Of course. It doesn't matter who does it or how they identify on gender. There's no support for harassing another person, physically or mentally. The rest of this almost probably would be great in some sociology/philosophical club.

I'm not really trying to say they are doing it because they are white. Race is perhaps nothing more than an adjective in this conversation. It's really centered more on the lack of sensibility that seems to reside within a class of individuals that have spent a lifetime working in a closed circle with no diversity. An environment where the kind of jokes that are told only serve to reinforce their behaviors. They then walk out into the world feeling as though they are capable of acting in certain ways. It's probably also fair to say that regardless of race, any group that shared a similar history would also develop the same way. I say this based on the factors that cause this behavior are a lack of understanding and appreciation for those who are different, culturally, socio-economically, and more. In this case, they happen to be white. You are 100% correct. I could have phrased that better. I did say it seems that there is, which is a suggestion that it may exist but I am not 100% committing to it. It's open to discussion, which is happening. A great point as I touched on above. It is 100%. And clearly not every older white corporate male is a sexual harasser. Stereotypes are not inherently wrong. They protect us. We stereotype things that are dangerous to us even if something that looks similar is not we are bound to avoid it at first as a means of self-preservation. Stereotyping is a form of classification and it's something that intelligent species do unconsciously. Even with our "heightened" sense of being we still love to classify. I think it's the level at which the stereotype is formed that really matters. Looking at the color of one's skin and passing judgment is clearly superficial and ignorant. However, the more factors that are brought into play the more likely it is that someone fits into that classification. There are always exceptions, but it doesn't make the stereotype without merit. To address your comment on made-up stereo-types to further and agenda. It might be philosophical to say that those are lies and have no merit. It doesn't change that people may choose to believe them, but they are inherently different than stereotypes that are founded in evidence.

No, you're right, BUT, in his defense he seen it used in a report he came acrost. -
You mean play the player who can join the rush who has scored a few of his goals at the corner of the net as opposed to the guy who spends 3 seconds pointing his stick at God before taking a slap shot that gets blocked or goes wide? Why would you do that?

Whiteness has to do with the conversation centering on corporate executives and other people in positions of power abusing their positions to sexually harass others. We aren't discussing rape here or it would be a different kind of discussion. Whiteness has to do with it because I am white and I have been associated with their kind of behavior by others. I don't create the classifications, but I get to live them. Associated meaning "You know how you white corporate guys are..." to which I have to reply, "I know how some people are, but don't lump me in with those jackholes". Do you see a lot of articles being posted about non-white corporate executives being accused of sexual harassment? I don't. I am merely speaking to that situation and not making commentary on the broad classification of sexual harassment, including rape, that permeates all levels of society. If society were seeing a rash of reported sexual abuse cases by non-white corporate executives (and as I referred to, let;s say the Michigan State head was not white) then yes.. I would say the same thing. Because I am limiting my commentary to that specific group. I hope that answers your question.
