  1. I had a blast in Grand Rapids over the last weekend, the concert had general admission as standing room and I was 5 ft from the stage with fast pass entrance, we were all very intoxicated, as planned. I had to use the facilities but I wasn't risking leaving my prime spot to go to the bathroom.... I found a large popcorn bucket and just used that while standing there in the crowd; very inconspicuous 😂😂😂, set it down and enjoyed the rest of the show.
  2. What really sucks is that no matter what, the team this season is going to be absolute crap; the the normal getting amped up for training camp and the beginning of the season is missing. Sure, we can be slightly excited to see some of the kids a bit, but there isn't much taking away from this Eichel saga.
  3. It's the definition of being cautious, and thinking before reacting. Something this country doesn't excel at.
  4. I should use the quote feature more, anyhow, that was what my response was based on, I barely skimmed the science stuff. I deal with that on the a daily, have no interest in hashing that stuff out here anymore.
  5. It was around NS saying he has personal hesitations with close contacts having reactions, also with not going out much, the other stuff I had no comment on.
  6. I never once mentioned conspiracy theories as an advocate for people not getting the vaccine, I do however believe that people are allowed a choice in the matter. I give my patients plain out facts when asked, and NS has very good personal reasons to not take it. Don't go twisting my words
  7. Because you don't decide what's rational, your complex is insatiable.
  8. Hold strong @New Scotland (NS) no one can make you get poked (at least not yet anyways) You aren't some idiot Twitter-head who doesn't want it because they're BS vegan and they think there's bacon in the shot. You have rational and reasonable objections, and those shouldn't be discounted by all the other lay-persons on the planet. Seems we have quite a few virologists, microbiologists and epidemiologists here on SS
  9. I wouldn't count on that, I have several colleagues that are upset by this. Sure they're the overall minority but they're out there. For example, during flu season we have the option of showing proof of flu vaccination or we have to wear a mask during the season (pre-covid, of course) but now what, either get the shot or lose your job?
  10. Will this still stand with everything going on with Cuomo? Not that I'm opposed to it at all
  11. You're forgetting, this isn't a democracy here on SS, the law has been passed by the Supreme leaders, and we must obey.
  12. How I feel when an already ridiculous thread becomes political.....seriously, take that $hit to the politics club.
  13. Oh yeah that would suck! I have some good friends/colleagues that would slip me a little something if that instance arose, I could probably handle being in a wheelchair after some time of grief, but a Quadrapalegic would be tragic.
  14. They might, I'm typically pretty careful, that doesn't mean I can control other drivers. I won't give up something I love out of fear 🙂
  15. I have 2 motorcycles, we call them "donorcycles" in the hospital.... I'll ride until the day I die.
  16. Sadly, I see people use mental illness as an excuse to be an @ss,and I see it all the damn time in the hospital. I spent time in the desert in my youth, I have had many dark days myself especially after I left for civilian life. Mental illness is real, and It affects everyone differently, but I know a ton of people that have similar issues as Robin that don't/didn't act like he did. Conversely, I know a few that basically don't have a liver left due to self medicating. What's missing is that those people never gave much of a glimmer that they were in need until it was nearly too late, something tells me that the medical staff of a sports team that is mainly focused on the physical health of 30+ men, probably isn't delving into the mental health issue unless something is brought up about it, either by the individual or a teamate. It's possible he has some issues and can be a jerk at the same time lol
  17. Driving in the morning tomorrow to Grand Rapids, MI to see Dermott Kennedy, so excited to see him live, love his music! Decided to make a week out of it and do some camping in the UP; Josh turner is playing the UP fair so I may snag some tickets to see him too.
  18. Im not so sure, the people not getting it I believe are still living without fear, just in a bit of an oppositional way, I work in health care, so for me even though I particularly didn't care about the shot, I got it because it makes sense for others considering my daily contact. As for the mandates, they can force a mask mandate, can they force a shot mandate?
  19. Again, I'm not trying to use my little slice of life here as reason not to get it, y'all knew how much I was not bought into Covid last year and I still got the shot. So what do we think, should it be absolutley mandatory for all us citizens to get the shot? If not, then what. Prison time, worse, impenetrable quarantine? I'm curious what we think should be done. The rift now is just as bad as the mask rift in the beginning.
  20. Is this the part where Liger comes raging in about Stats?
  21. Sampling bias is what comes through the doors of the hospital, no bias at all. Actual real life randomized trials. And no, being a doctor does not make me a statistician; honestly I can't even get through the stats on this board when it comes to hockey, let alone anything else. You think I saw the only 2 patients on the planet with J+J induced DIC? I'm not trying to sway anyone with this, its just actual things that have happened; I will not even look at any "real" data until at least 12-24 months after these all roll out, then again I work on the macro level generally in my job. No, not exactly, but I'd trust Dr. Ortho to look at data online and be able to trudge through what's more likely to be true, that individual did go through medical school at some point and has basic pathophysiology knowledge that isn't quite as easy to grasp to someone that hasn't. Not to say that I trust all medical personnel but most do get a slight benefit for having completed medical training prior to their subspecialty.
  22. I'm not debating that so much, I am a fan of vaccines, I wish I could bring boatloads of them to my clinic in Africa with me. But, the part that is unnerving is that we are pushing them without a 2nd though to the long term side effects of what it could be. I feel that people should be allowed to question those without being beat down by the general population. Sure, in the end it may be miniscule, but in 5 years it's possible to have an immune response to the vaccine/preservative/etc. These things can happen, we simply just don't have the answer now. I got poked, great, my best friend who works in this field also, he doesn't want to. I'm not going to be an ass to him over it, he has valid concerns and I won't dismiss them.
  23. Vasovagal? And concern for POTS. Hope it's figured out!
  24. There was a study put out by New England journal of medicine about 8 years or so ago, comparing 1st world vs 3rd world countries and looking at illness/viruses, etc....one of the main thing in that article was that those in the less wealthy country had a much better immune system and response to many illnesses because of chewing their nails/cuticles. Something that is frowned upon in developed nations; while seen as unsanitary and publicly gross, very lifesaving in other situations. I think we have removed a lot of what we need from society in regards to fighting off general viruses and the like, but we wouldn't reach those levels at this point. Well basic hygiene is important, its something acquired through a lifetime of immune learning. As for the flu, we have Tamiflu and antibiotics to prevent secondary pneumonia now, so I think it would be very similar to this situation now, influenza didn't kill people, it was the dehydration /infection/sepsis that was the ultimate killer. I don't have a ton of insight into 1919 so I won't pretend to know, but that's like comparing Gretzky to McDavid, different eras and not super applicable.
