  1. The virus should be attenuated, basically inactivated, so the body is responding to the shell of the virus to invoke a response without the virus being able to replicate. Vaccines basically alert the body that there is an intruder, the body sends in the forces (usually why you feel a little crappy after the flu shot) and the body then stores that to memory, typically T cell mediation, this allows the body to be immune to future infections with an active virus. For how long is unknown, maybe each year, and most probable with this family of viruses. The biggest concern would be future mutations to the Sars-cov-2 that would render the vaccination much less effective, and that's anyone's guess.
  2. I suppose "they" would end up being owners of businesses, those in charge of schools/hospitals/public sector jobs. Legally every year I Must have a flu shot, the only way around is a declination form signed off, if I don't get it, I can easily lose my position and privileges at said hospital. As noted upthread, schools can add that to the required immunizations and bam, it's done. A business owner could require his/her employees to maintain their job.... The list goes on, it may not be a universal blanket like an executive order, but subsquentially it could end at that point.
  3. Most vaccines are "usually" pretty decent, save for some allergic reactions and some local irritation, the occasional case of Guillane Barre/Transverse Myelitis. This isn't going to be like most vaccines, a coronavirus vaccine that is rushed, I'm sure it will have some drawbacks initially, it's a mRNA(messenger RNA) vaccine which can be manufactured a bit quicker in a lab, but I need to look into it more. It probably won't be crazy unsafe, but it may not actually work as well as many would hope. Time will tell.
  4. Idk if I'd call it distinct, I've chatted with many colleges around the globe and it's pretty evenly split 50/50 in my social circle. I've been getting backlash since March 8th, I don't mind really. My thoughts on this are well documented and I've previously put up some numbers in the past supporting my stance, obviously taken with a grain of salt, much like the other numbers we're seeing. Fact is at the end of the day, I save upwards of what, 50 lives a week, Covid or noncovid, I haven't knowingly got anyone sick, I stayed home when I had pneumonia last week,I follow guidelines even if I believe they're more fluff than substance. So my words are simply that, thoughts and opinion that are relatively harmless. It wouldn't hurt to think about this thing from both sides for a second.
  5. Question, can they force the vaccination on everyone? You know law, so that's why I ask. Private employers such as mine have the right to make me get one, just like the flu vaccine. I'm by no means an anti-vaxxer, quite the opposite, but I fear that this could get ugly soon if there is vaccination by force looming? I'm a lover, not a fighter
  6. News flash, a majority of health care professionals share an opinion similar to mine. Not all, but more than one would think. It doesn't mean that I don't follow protocols, I don't do reckless things, I wear my mask, I take all precautions with my patients, etc etc. I'm not loving it. But it's an opinion and this is a Covid thread on the internet, venting is allowed. Last time I checked not everyone agrees on everything. I still think our response is poor and not based entirely in true science, which should be all that matters. Most of the nay sayers to my thoughts on this haven't worked in the medical or even scientific sector at all, it changes perspective
  7. I was told JA lost his grandmother yesterday, he played inspired today, something tells me those 2 aren't unrelated.
  8. What happened, I'm in NYC having dinner on Mulberry, just checked the score, 41 points?!?! Terrible game to miss!
  9. Maybe, but with the nazi style lockdowns coming down the chute, maybe not.
  10. Having a fire with friends tonight after I leave shortly, Irish coffees, pizza and a fire in November. Very excited
  11. With the way my boiler has been acting, I use both too.... Inside my house 😂 Cabin in South Wales area?
  12. Got 2 inches or so last week, now it's 70 today....
  13. Mine are packed away now too, now only 10 months until spring 😂😂
  14. Not a complaint really, but took the bike out today, finally feeling a bit better. But man the roads are not safe for motos right now. There were several pockets of loose stone and grime and etc, caught one and almost dumped it. Maybe the plows being out last week should've been the sign to winterize the bikes.
  15. Only brown deer ticks carry lyme and not all of them do. The tick has to be present and burrowed for I believe 72 hours to even transmit, if, it is a carrier 🙂
  16. Get yourself a one time double dose of doxycycline and that should mitigate any worry
  17. Ehhh, a kid was just dropped from the NHL and college program, just like that, not sure there is much now he can do to prove anything by sulking in the US of A. Maybe he's an @$$hat, maybe he just had bad friends and out of touch parents. I don't blame him for going to Russia to play in a fixed league.
  18. The company policy said that you are not allowed to leave? Is that even legal?!?? Or are they saying you must quarantine if you leave the state? NY and papa Cuomo just changed the guidelines for Covid travel, not sure it makes it any better, maybe simpler, but getting a test isn't quite as easy yet as it should be for most people, considering it's November. Also Swamp, you think I don't change my mask, what am I some Neanderthal 😉
  19. I am close to 99% that my bacterial pneumonia came from wearing masks all day every day. The pathogen that caused it, it's what is grown out on dirty masks. Working in a hospital doesn't help either, I honestly would have rather had Covid.
  20. That was wayyyy too close for comfort. Cam should know better there, I get it was a good play on D, but you basically have OT almost all but in the bag with a realistic chance of the lead. No complaints here, but he literally and figuratively, dropped the ball.
  21. Thanks, I'm trying, admittedly I'm not the best patient 😂
  22. Got a chest xray at work and got a big honkin Right Lower Lobe pneumonia, I'm leaving early today, this one is lingering something fierce.
