  1. BTW, 26k posts since 2013? Someone do the analytics on that !! ? (just noticed this)
  2. Hmmm.... moron GM's seem to follow tanks at an alarming rate. I wonder what to make of that.
  3. The Leafs planned downturn was extremely short and didn't result in major change to the culture. The Oilers are still talking about changing the culture there as their success was fleeting. And did the Bills eliminate everything and strip it down to the core? I don't think I'd describe their rebuild that way.
  4. 1. Foligno wasn't dictating anythimng, he was describing what he saw. 2. Botteril is in year 2 of trying to change the culture. I think you are greatly mistaken regarding how difficult culture change in an organization really is. There are alot of Masters dissertations on the very subject. It's an extremely challenging subject. How easy do you think it would be to implement significant culture change in any of the organizations you've been a part of? It's the most challenging thing any leader can accomplish.
  5. Players like Markus Foligno said otherwise, that expectations were different. And that was after we were supposedly done tanking and had a new batch of players installed.
  6. Mindless. Not bad. Mindless. and calmer than you, dude.
  7. You lost a culture that expected wins. You lost veterans who had a connection to the team to pass on all the aspects of being a good pro. You replaced them with over the hill, unwanted mercenaries that knew this was not going to be a place for them to win in. That was the culture that replaced players trying to win. And today we are still reeling from it. those tank year rosters were filled with guys who weren't going to play the right way, they were just going to play and earn their check. That is what happens in a full tear down, and that is what makes tanking so risky. Recovery is not a simple as it was made out to be.
  8. Building from scratch was the problem though. That is the fundamental difference in pro tank vs. anti tank. The anti tank crowd saw the concept of building from a torn down state as too time consuming and too risk filled to be a sound strategy.
  9. I'm curious if you see me as that other poster. I wanted us to move on from that core. Fully. I did not advocate trading those core pieces for assets though. I wanted them moved in hockey trades. Roy for Ott, not Vanek for futures.
  10. Such a mindless thing to say. ?
  11. And he wonders why he gets a hard time here. This sort of tone was not present for some time. Too bad, really.
  12. Yup. 9 years is the definition of stretching out the definition of success. That timeline is nearly twice the length of the average NHL career. And BOOM!
  13. Heh. Scott Arniel was a half joke last week, but maybe that's not too far off afterall.
  14. I imagine a search on the subject would show that thought unposted here.
  15. I blame the whiskey.
  16. These two things are not the same.
  17. The hell? The Sharp comparison was made by me in his full rookie year. You may have jumped on, but it wasn't an original thought of yours.
  18. Agreed. The velocity is impressive. I said out loud “WOW” several times at the passes he threw.
  19. Have we had a preseason game post-Kelly where the QB's looked decent? Cuz all 3 looked decent. I can see where Allen gets his rep re: accuracy, but man that kid can chuck a football.
  20. The hives are all the way up both legs now, and I have patches on the inside of both arms and on my abdomen. Torture.
  21. Broke two ribs doing something really stupid 10 years ago. It'll take 1-2 months to heal, but it will hurt every time you laugh or cough hard for another 6 months past that. I had twinges of pain up to 1 year after I broke them. Get used to that recliner for a bit. Laying downa nd stretching your rib cage will be excruciating for a while. Some truthiness here.
  22. Allergic reaction to the antibiotic that I am (was, now) taking. The itching is driving me nuts. Can’t dose with Benadryl at work. That stuff throws me for a loop and I need to get work done. I’ll sleep good with 2 Benadryls down my gullet, but I’m being tortured right now.
  23. Didn’t we have basically the same stat 2 yrs ago?
