I just don't see how anyone here can get that excited over Asplund, Olofsson, Nylander, and, at this point KO as well. Nylander is the highest rated of the bunch and he's a season away from busting. I think you guys are fecking nuts.
I see a pretty damned big red blob to the left of our goal in the 2nd graphic that tells me shots went way up from there. And that is a danger area. The biggest change I see from Dan to Phil is that the area of the ice that we are most vulnerable switched from center to RW, and we are now getting killed there. That seems to me much more like a new area of weakness than improvement of any kind.
I am so disappointed with this roster and our prospect list that none of these lines move the needle for me at all. Each line has one or two guys minimum that I don't need to see on the ice next season.
That's pretty much my thought as well. Put some talent on D and he'll look like the bottom feeder he is.
I keep going back to how good Zemgus looked when we were forced to feature him. IMO we have the same dynamic at play here.
It's a mind exercise cuz Karlsson ain't signing here, but who the hell have we got that we are worried about losing? Last place 3 out out of 4 seasons. I can count the players that we probably can't replace on the fingers of one hand, and have fingers left over.
Skating-wise, Karlsson is in the realm Coffey, Housley, Bourque. those guys just don't tail off. I fully expect him to get all star consideration 8-10 years from now.
Unless Karlsson ends up with concussion or knee problems I bet he is still in the NHL after Risto has retired Guys that skate like Karlsson play at a high level forever. I'd trade Risto to get him and not think twice about it.
Being in the picture at game 78 isn't "all fixed". It is the next expected goal. Considering our play against top team teams the 2nd half of the season, 80 points is too easy a goal. They have it in them if they show up gametime. This is about the room as much as it is about talent level. If the room is fixed next season we should be hunting. If it's not fixed, I don't think Jason and Phil are the right ones to fix it.
Our expectations need to be higher. If I am Daddy Warbucks he's got this offseason to turn the ship around. I'm not talking 82 points and gee.. they look good alot of nights. I'm talking last week of the season better have playoff implications.
Had anyone compared all of GAs offseason epic posts to see how often they change?
I can’t even begin to read past the 4th paragraph, let alone check for consistency/ repeating himself. :p
