Surprised there is nothing in here about the passing of Charles Wang today. Or did I miss it buried in all the drama? ?

Trying like hell to stay out of this but, cheese and rice some of you sound like the thinnest skinned of children. Comparing Trochek to Jack and posters are complaining about not wanting to hear it. FFS it's hockey. Noone is calling your new born baby homely. Comparing players to each other SHOULD be part of the convo here. And regarding Trochek and Eichel. If you are trying to be rational, it's hard to look past the 200' game of Trochek that goes with those points and still say Jack is clearly the better player. The more offensively talented player? Absolutely, but I'd posit that much of that edge is not fully displayed. But better? There is a valid argument to be made either way for who is the better player. First thing I note between the two is their points have been nearly equal the last 3 seasons, but Jack has done it in fewer games. That means something. But the usage stats do as well. As does the defensive prowess. And lets face it, talent not on the ice for 20 games isn't as good as talent on the ice for all of the games. The difference between the two over the last two seasons is closer than we want to admit. Frankly, we should have expected more from our franchise center those last 3 seasons. He needs to end the argument that they are even. He has the talent. Does he have the drive? Trochek does.

Not any more. If I remember the conversations correctly, a couple of seasons ago their pay was cut. At that point she was definitely making more waiting tables on any given week in the season (or any given night, often) so it was difficult to justify making the sacrifices to play. She felt obligated to come back after winning the title but had to make a decision that she wasn't comfortable making. Last season the team allowed her to skip practices and still play. She didn't want to do that, but did anyway. And felt bad because she knew it wasn't right for the team, but she couldn't afford to lose her best days at the restaurant. When the past season ended she knew it didn't make sense anymore to continue, so she retired. Those girls don't get paid shyte, really. It might as well be a hobby.

Sounds like smarmy would be an acceptable return then. -
I can only speak of one in particular that waits tables to make ends meet. She almost didn't come back last season because the practice times interfered with the better restaurant times crowd/tip-wise and the practices are unpaid. Didn't make sense financially for her.

I'm not sure I could muster a "good to see you". Local rag had an article last week detailing how he might be able to defend his accusations. My guts telling me the slimy son of a bitch gets off. -

Casey and Sam providing secondary scoring is going to me absolutely essential. If they can't get a second line going, we're done here. Damned shame Jack wasn't open to that 3 seasons ago. Hopefully he gets it now. -
Dodgers Brewers game 7 is fantastically dramatic so far.

Is Larry Piegza getting any attention in the burbs? He's the Independent Party candidate I think (independent + party, isn't that an oxymoron?)? Making alot of noise about being a genuine Trump candidate, supporting all the Trump plans/policies. His press releases indicate polling numbers moving his way. Man, this is a weird election with a trial hanging over Collins head. And Trump still getting pretty good support. -
And some are also preordaining his NHL success. Welcome to the internet.
-
LOL "whether I like it or not". As if I am rooting against him. so weird. You might be right about the switch when they're back home. I expect Thompson will look awesome in the A too. Edit- Somewhere on this forum someone recently posted a stat that compared age a player reached 1 pt/gm and how it translated to NHL success and essentially 1 pt/gm at 23 typically indicated that the player wasn't liekly to make it in the NHL. I know, he wasn't here at 22. Still, caution is warranted. Late success in the lesser leagues rarely translates in the NHL. Hope the kid does something very unusual. But won't be surprised if he doesn't.

Boy, LA looks disjointed. -
If he were a proven scorer at the NHL level, no. He's doing what Ken Prieslty, Jody Gage, Mal Davis, and Claude Verret did. Luke Adam too for that matter. Let's not go gaga just yet. And to your first request, Taylor has very recently said he needs to work on the other areas of his game. I don't know where you're getting "liability" from.

Unfortunately, he'll play well in the non suburban portions of Collins district..... -
We're appraoching irrational exhuberance with Olofsson. He's a older prospect that should be doing very well in the AHL. At some point he should get a shot on the big team, but expecting him to correct what's wrong in Buffalo is asking way more than we should be.

Fall salmon fishing is fun. Big, big fish on relatively light tackle. The crowds can make it tough sometimes.
-
Therein lies the biggest issue I had with how we got to where we are. The expectation of entertaining at a very minimum was lost. And now the team is struggling to get back to at least that minimum level on a consistent basis.

I pretty much fully agree with the substance of this last post. I think if Ullmark would have shown himself to be the better goalie he’d be the starter now regardless of any preconceived notions. And I think Hutton getting the starting job (given that Ullmark has not yet demonstrated that he’s the better goalie) makes the most sense given the reasons you’ve listed. But I also believe that playing Ullmark after a shutout win is a very defensible position. Granted, not playing him after the shutout is also very defensible.
-
Nice fish. I haven’t fished an Erie trib in years. Ontario is more convenient to me now. The nice thing about Erie tribs is they don’t get the crazy salmon crowds that the Ontario tribs get right now.
-
Took some heat on here last season after suggesting this.

Off Erie or Ontario?

You won’t regret cord cutting. And youtube has replaced most of the TV time I had.
-
I was definitely gone before Tops moved. But I was still in the neighborhood in 88. Moved in 90.
-
I read it as 2 calling for Ullmark to be the starter and a few more that wanted him to get another start after the shutout. And the 2nd part is definitely worthy of debate.

Let's not get carried away here.
