Hamilton falls within Toronto's geographic protection area. They'll never get a team. I would imagine Fort Worth has the same situation with Dallas that Hamiltion has with Tomroto.

Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
Weave replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Our lifestyle is way too comfortable for it to happen. It would take a return to the conditions at the start of the Industrial Era. (it's pretty well understood that the real path to peace in the middle east is economic) And not so coincidentally, I think it will take a new labor movement for things to change. The things at the root of Trump's rise are things surrounding the evaporation of the working class voice. The bitch of it is, Trump is about the worst advocate for what those voices really want. -
If fans could fire an owner, would you fire Terry?

Interesting take. I don't think he's insulated himself well at all. Not for lack of trying. He's definitely not made himself harder to criticize. I think the fanbase is more forgiving..... for lack of a better word....... because there was fear of losing the team, and because he has invested heavily in downtown. In retrospect, maybe that is what you are referring to when saying he's insulated himself? -

I don't know. Candidates at state and federal levels are hand picked so I'm not enthusiastic about real change coming from new candidates in either party. And we're seeing now the damage that occurs when ultra-wealthy force their way in. I know what I'd like to see, substantial change to how elections are funded that greatly reduces corporate influence. I'd like to see gerrymandering eliminated. I'd like to see debates, and elections in general, more inclusive of non-Republican and Democrat candidates. But those are all changes that the currently entrenched would have to roll out, so I don't have any hope of those things happening. -

To continue the parody, we're in the end game now. Oligarchy. -

Of course it is by design. -
Responses to this would definitely reflect how someone values a coachs contribution the teams' success. It's an interesting idea. I'm not automatically down on it. Did we give up a pick for Botteril? Or was it Bylsma maybe? Am I misremembering?

In the context of putting Mittelstadt in the best position to succeed, we need better than Sheary, an Olofsson that plays like the last 2 weeks of the season (no sure thing, but hopeful nonetheless), and Skinner needs to re-sign. There is some hope, but it's just that. Hope. It's not rosey. There are significant unknowns, only one of which is upgrading Sheary. What primary got me to respond was your comment that the 4 wingers you posted were not a bad group. This is the group that played the 2nd half of the season with the worst record in the NHL. It can't be a good group and have that distinction.

Except there is nothing that we saw on the ice about his play to suggest anything other than he wasn't enjoying it.
-
It’s weird how some folks are remembering that interview. It’s like they needed to fabricate a villan.
-
We don’t know that Olofsson is going to maintain the play for more than a couple of weeks, Skinner is no guarantee, and we’ll disagree on the optimism about Sheary.

This sounds like a claim of entitlement or something when it is nothing more than supply vs. demand in the 50th largest metro area with a record of depressed income.

I have no idea what point you are trying to convey. There is no coherent point in this post. -

Well now, that explains everything. There is some serious tin foil hat in abovetopsecret. You night want to turn back towards reality. -
Oof. Hopefully we aren't left picking scraps.

If Casey is our 3C next season, I don't see how we can expect 45 points. He'll need a very good winger to get there, and unless JBott is a miracle worker this offseason, I don't see this team with 5 really solid wingers on the roster. As you say, might he get 45 points? Sure, he's got the talent. But expect it? Not without an big jump in talent on the wing.

I know, right? He says he's Libertarian, but doesn't hold a single Libertarian view. Says he's not a Republican, but spouts talking points right out of the Tea Party playbook. Nothing worse than someone ashamed to own what they really are. -

You really need to look at data and stop relying on someone else's talking points. Under the Obama administration the percentage of immigrants that were Hispanic went DOWN. The idea that Democrats were importing Hispanics to improve their election chances is laughable when you look at the data. -

You really aren’t interested in looking at actual data, are you? -

And because I am on a roll, one more chart that not only shows just how ridiculously low illegal immigration is historically, it also plainly shows what we need to do to minimize illegal immigration. Hint, it ain't a wall. Ahhh. the graph wouldn't paste properly. Click the link. https://infogram.com/html-figure-8-1hke603e9dr165r Basically, as guest worker visas go up, illegal immigration drops like a rock, and today's illegal immigration rates are a fraction of what they were in the past. -

Just published today from the Cato Institute.... Not some liberal rag. And, from Factcheck.org, illegal immigration has been in decline since 2007. What crisis? CMS found a decline in the undocumented population, and specifically those from Mexico, of about 1 million since 2010. And the Pew Research Center found a peak of 12.2 million in the population in 2007, and a decline since. -
I keep reading this thread title as fans that are now off of sweetlou's wish list.

Updated Todd McLellan OUT of the Running Sabres HC Position
Weave replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I cant say I've concerned myself terribly with who they hire, and I was open to the idea of Taylor, although I definitely have a substantial preference for an experienced NHL coach to lead this particular roster, but having it laid out like you just did, I want no part of Chris Taylor as the head coach of this team. He's got as much growing to do as Rasmus. -
We had roofing and siding replaced 2 weeks ago. Was a tough Winter by that standard.
