This is a strange debate, really. Deluca.500 was never anything more than a benchmark (you used the correct word). Teams that manage to end the season at Deluca .500 or better make up the vast majority of the teams that make the playoffs. It's an excellent benchmark to gauge whether your team is trending as a playoff team. It's nothing more than that. A quick evaluation of relative performance.

Buffalo will never institute Buffalo metro only ticket purchasing. Since the Rigas era they've worked hard to expand their market as far as possible to compete revenue-wise with the competing NHL cities. No stinking way they go back to local ticket revenue only. Too many tickets to be sold at higher prices to Canadian ticket purchasers especially.

Not speaking regarding Hall specifically, but there is value in picking up a rental for a playoff run. The experience gained by the young core of this team would be very valuable and may very well shorten the timeline to consistent playoffs and playoff series wins.

This seems most likely to me. Would be interesting to hear a more current player with a Robie level personality that hasn’t been cleaned up too much and hear the vernacular today.

I'm mostly in agreement with you re: Montour. I don't see his play as materially better than Scandella's for sure. Or Bogo to date. Or Miller for that matter. It seems right now we have 5 or 6 defenders that are pretty equivalent.
