I’m sure obtaining an NHL caliber goalie is counter to the plan for this season, but we don’t have any sure things at goalie to plan on for the future. I think a decent goalie with term needs to be part of the salary coming back in an Eichel trade.

I think it is weird revisionist history to say Cozens was put in the NHL without earning it. He clearly demonstrated that he was one of our top 12 forwards last season. Being here before he was ready was not discussed by anyone last season, even during his points slump. Hes feeling the weight of expectation and is gripping his stick too tight. Nothing more.

Lids already had all star and Norris votes in year 4. Noone is worried about Raz's points. Raz puts up offense but can't play reliably in his own zone.

Where were they at their 4th season in their own end? We didn't finish last for Phill Housley.

Underappreciated or unnoticed snark here. My sigh was because this kid is starting his 4th season now and he's still making enough gaffs that this supposed Lidstrom in the wings (see what I did there) is getting conversation about moving him to F because his D just isn't coming along. We're on savior #2 here that can't seem to live up to billing. Yeah, I know, spare me the he's young stuff. This is his 4th season. He HAS to show progress on his overall game.

I think #3 is a legit concern, but I suspect #2 is most likely this season.

There is a full spectrum between those two bookends. Going straight to pretenders is why you catch so much flack.

Lehner is also calling out the league in general today, mentioning benzos being handed out without prescriptions. He’s on a mission to call out what he sees as treatment aimed at the teams interests, not the players. Say what you want, he wears his heart on his sleeve.

Biggest enigma on the roster. We have to now why his scoring fell off a liff before we an predit if it will come back. My best guess is it will partly come back with increased usage in prime scoring situations.

I like #2 here as well. 40ish pts and some solid evidence of his limitations this season. He’ll be asked to do more than he should because he’s what we’ve got. At least he’s a little better prepared for it this time.

Leaned on for top 4 minutes and disappointment seems to be the most likely result. Hes not a top 4 defender, but he will be used that way this season.

Last season Cozens was “banging down the door” in preseason. I think he’s got some jitters.
