  1. I’m not discounting the 2nd half, I’m using it as a baseline. Have we improved from there? On D I think Looby brings certain improvement, although you have to consider Power may not be the adrenaline filled Power we saw in the last handful of games (remember Mitts at a PPG pace or something like that?). At forward it is much more of a leap of faith to call it improved over the end of last season. We expect Quinn and JJP to bring more skill, but being rooks at the level, they could struggle mightily. Goalie is a crap shoot. If the skill of the rooks translates better than the previous veteran NHL understanding then this team makes a 15 pt step over their end of season pace. But it IS a leap of faith to expect that is how it plays out.
  2. Point 1, you can’t compare opening night rosters until we’ve seen THIS opening night roster. And I think a better faith discussion would be around end of last season vs. start of this season. Point 2, the only certain improvements are Looby, Mule and Tuch. The rest are “ show me”. And Mule and Tuch are not newcomers so we know what the roster is like with them. I see small improvement for certain, anything more than that requires faith.
  3. Your error is assuming that those of us not on a Kool Aid fix don’t understand KAs philosophy. I understand it. I’ve seen its application work and not work. Like all investments, past performance does not indicate future results.
  4. I like my answer better.
  5. Its short for Braadko Lambertinnen.
  6. He’s going to struggle more than he dazzles. I’m expecting moments, even periods where we’ll gush, but more often than not he is going to be made to look bad. I think he’ll see bottom line even strength minutes most games and time on PP2. Around 30pts seems about right to me.
  7. Who?
  8. Given that results to date don’t really support optimism on their own, the optimism we do have is based almost entirely on faith. Misplaced faith is the root behind the expression. We won’t know until some later date whether the faith was misplaced.
  9. I’m still in show me mode. Winning the draft doesn’t move the needle for me, and I’m not sure they’ve done anything else truly notable. Noone gets the benefit of the doubt.
  10. Added depth for 1 season? No assets given up? Cap space weaponized for more assets? Im not paying his salary. Of course I would do it.
  11. I don’t understand this take. No assets sent the other way. From a fans perspective its a free pick.
  12. It aint over. Trump might be over, but the movement he got rolling is just getting started. Unless alot of people are in prison prior to the next group of Congress is seated this is gonna get worse.
  13. It does require enough good vets to bring the kids along. We could use another.
  14. That team also had Bobby Smith, Larry Robinson, Carbonneau, Gainey, Trembley, Deblois. That was a hell of a veteran core around those kids. Our veteran core around the kids is Okposo, Skinner, Tuch, Anderson. It’s not unreasonable to question whether there is enough cagey veterans on the roster.
  15. I don’t expect a performance dip if he remains healthy. His game doesn’t seem to have fading skill sets and his legs are keeping up. At least last season they kept up. His shot hasn’t faded at all and his game is predicated on pressure on the puck. He still gets to pucks so it should remain effective. He’ll be captain, and the right captain.
  16. Interesting that they didn’t mention Mitts. Seems like he’d be an obvious mention. I can’t help but try and read something into it. Not sure what though.
  17. Not a damned thing. My participation has no effect on whether they win the thing, so why would I do something stupider than my usual?
  18. I think Krebs is going to be a 3rd line player, and not in a Vanek-Pominville-Roy way. More of a Brian Holzinger way.
  19. Then cut your hair, hippie.
  20. Had the pleasure of fishing with @SwampDthis morning. We met up at Canadice Lake bright and early with the kayaks and fishing gear in tow. Fishing was slow. We caught a couple, but what a great morning. We launched at 6:30 into a light fog covered lake. The winds stayed damn near dead calm all morning. There were wisps of fog lingering until almost 10am. The lake was a mirror for 5 hours. And the clearest fresh water I have ever seen. It was my first time on Candice. We were exploring as much as we were fishing. Great time. Great scenery. Great company. We’ll lay into the fish next time.
  21. They were encouraged tp crawl out from under their rocks 6 years ago and refuse to crawl back under.
  22. I’m really surprised at how this news is making it difficult for me to concentrate. This is incredibly saddening. Wow.
  23. I’m having trouble processing this. My family had a place in the Institution for decades. My wife and I had a place there for awhile. I can’t fathom this kind of violence occurring in a serene, beautiful, PEACEFUL setting like the Chautauqua Institution. I am floored.
