What was Golisano negotiating? There was no negotiation taking place. He knew who was responsible for contract details. He was making the responsible person squirm. To what end? Did he not think DR knew he ***** up? Was he looking to rub Darcys nose in ***** over it? It may be an effective negotiation tactic. It is an awful leadership tactic. He was using it on his subordinates. Seriously ***** way to communicate with your subordinates.

It’s a hell of a catch-22. We won’t attract decent vets until we’re respectable, and we won’t attain respectability without a few key decent vets. Unless KA loosens his stance on players that want to be here and forces a goalie here in a trade, we’ll be stuck with picking from the discard pile hoping we catch a little lightning in a bottle. Im not hopeful. I really think KA needs to force a goalie in here and make damn sure the team plays well enough to keep his morale in check.

I’m not excusing KA. We saw yesterday a very public “no” from a mediocre goalie. It is a real roadblock. The path is easier for most other teams. It is also KAs job to overcome it. I think the only path is via trade and accept that the guy we bring in doesn’t want to be here but has to because he doesn’t have no trade protection.
