Maybe I’m the *****. Kane will always be the ***** punk that beat up a cabbie over literal pocket change. Im not sure what kind of redemption would be needed for me to be happy to see him in blue and gold.

ECBP is so variable. Some releases are crazy good good and others can be meh. I’ve got a bottle from last year, don’t remember the lot, that was def worth the price.

Sabres Announce They Signed Filip Cederqvist to a 2 Year ELC
Weave replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Not really pertinent to the primary discussion…. 1/2 of a “classic definition” of a generation, and more importantly, a full generation + in the perspective of a professional athlete. There are few players left in the league that played when Buffalo was relevant. For practical purposes, the league only knows the Sabres as bumbling and irrelevant. Hell of a hill we constructed and now have to climb. No wonder FA goalies won’t sign here. -

The concern I have with this move is the timing. The timing tells me that the plan is to need the cap floor insurance. That implies that getting outside vet help is not a priority (at least enough vet help to approach the cap floor anyway). This is a move that could have been made the day before the season starts if we were still in need of getting to the floor. Regardless, I’ll gnash my teeth and rend garments when we actually get to the season opener and we still have significant holes. There is alot of time.

Official Sabres to Retire Ryan Miller’s Number on January 19, 2023
Weave replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I think Perreault “could have been” the best player in the league for a short time. Regardless of whatever SI wrote, I think we all know he never did quite reach that pinnacle though. What Perreault had in physical tools he lacked in ambition and will. What Miller lacked in physical tools he overcame with ambition and will. I’m not advocating for Miller in the rafters, but I don’t think it is as far away as being discussed here. He’s more appropriate than, say, Gare or LaFontaine for sure. I think the drop from Perreault to Miller in terms of impact to the team and overall legacy requires magnification to see. They’re close. It’s not lessening the honor to include Miller like it was for some of the names up there. -
I long ago came to the conclusion that dirty and entitled is exactly the attitude needed to win.

You are talking more about their physical gifts. I am talking more about their impact on the Sabres, impact on the league, and where they stood relative to their peers. Are the differences that noticeable? -

I’m torn on Miller’s number being retired. I agree the bar should be at the 11 & 39 level. And not at the Gare level or LaFontaine tenure level. Honest question that I’d like to see debated here……. Is Miller’s legacy terribly different that Perreault’s? Elite, sometimes great talent. A handful of seasons as a top 2 or 3 at their position. Long term with the team. Success, but never quite putting it all together. Id suggest that Perreault and Miller were similarly flawed, and closer than I’d previously considered in terms of performance relative to the league at the time. Would like to see the arguments here for and against the idea that these two legacies aren’t terribly different.
