Honestly, if you treat it more like an entertainment source and less like a meaningful part of you, it doesn’t hurt at all. It’s like the middle Star Wars trilogy is playing right now. At some point there will be a Rogue One and you can buy in then.

Given all this, it’s weird that the people with the highest standards of living, happiness quotients (whatever that is), health, life expectancy, birth expectancy, etc all seem to come from countries that provide for their health care, retirement, protection, etc. The cultures with the greatest respect and accountability for their actions all seem to come from those countries as well. My observations, anyway.

And today Trump has been found to be violating a court order to reinstate funding that was halted by his sweeping OMB executive order. So, now it is game on. Will the Trump administration appeal? Will they just ignore? Will they ignore the appeal verdicts? And will any Republicans stand up and do the right thing while this plays out?

Today I learned…… and I hate when that happens because ever time I learn something new, I lose something old to make room. Thats my story, and I am sticking to it.

GM Howdy Doody. Somewhere in here is an image of Adams and Howdy Doody, and it becomes readily apparent why we’ve never seen both in the same room at the same time. -

It took me until this post to realize GMHD refers to Howdy Doody. -
Seems so……… not random.

There isn’t a GM in hockey that could win with 5 yrs of this roster. -
This is apparently breaking news. I certainly hope it is inaccurate. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/02/10/trump-doj-foreign-corrupt-practices-act-pause.html I’m speechless. This is second and third tier nation stuff. Goes against every business ethics class and training session I have ever taken. I really, really hope I get embarrassed into taking this post down.

Correction, not shut down. Paused while it goes through the courts. And the administration is certainly making noise around ignoring the courts. I read today that court enforcement would be the jurisdiction of the US Marshals….. who are under the executive branch and now headed up by a Trump loyalist. Lots to be concerned about.

I am much more concerned about the executive branch power grab, honestly. Its the stuff of actual constitutional crisis. Do it the way it was intended to be done, show actual evidence, and you’ve got my attention. I will add, the way this is unfolding, locking out staff, going around dept personnel, firing the inspector generals, makes me very distrustful of what is happening, and therefore distrustful of the communications. Nothing about how this is being done provides me with the sense that there is benevolent intent. The constitutional crisis potential far outweighs the stated intent of government efficiency.

My feelings on the subject of the DOGE audits pretty much are framed by, if auditing is the true goal then why are programmers being employed instead of forensic accountants?
-
@Hank your posts here seem to suggest you are in support of what DOGE is doing. I am curious to get your reaction re: how they are going about doing it, ie. using executive order to bypass processes that require Congressional direction and ignoring precedent that the Executive branch is required to implement the budget as set by Congress. It is a helluva power grab for the executive branch that has a high danger potential.

I think you may have mis-interpreted the post above you quite badly.

Have Dylan Cozens & Mattias Samuelsson been stripped of their “A”s
Weave replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
The rumor I saw was that there was a discussion regarding removing A’s, but I’ve been distracted today and not following at all. -
Elderly parent in the hospital again, 1 week shy of last year when we lost my MIL suddenly. We’ve definitely hit that stage of life where our parents have become our stressor instead of our kids.

Yup. Everyone is a line higher than they should be, under-mentored, and in an environment where messages about expectations are mixed, at best. I can’t think of another profession where people in this scenario would shine.
-
I’ve said it before, every player on this roster would fit in, and do acceptably well on good playoff teams because they would be properly supported. Unfortunately, none of the players on this roster are properly supported, and are in a very challenging environment to truly shine. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Cozens bloom in a good environment. But this ain’t it, unfortunately.
