Sabres announce Jarmo Kekalainen Hired as Senior Advisor
Weave replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I am not convinced this brings any meaningful change to the image and perceived competence of this organization, but what the hell, its something. -
Seravalli: Real hard to picture JJ Peterka in a Sabres uniform this fall

Unconventional in that I have never heard anyone use it that way, and a google search shows 4 or 5 different versions and yours ain’t one of em. So, yeah, unconventional fits. -
Seravalli: Real hard to picture JJ Peterka in a Sabres uniform this fall

That is a rather unconventional definition of generation. -
Yeah, as much as I like collecting more talent, this isn’t the droid we should be looking for.

“Glass Norris” I laughed. Then I cried.

I’m just funnin’ ya. I can’t take any of this passionately anymore. Y’all are the entertainment that the Sabres do not provide.

Everyone should have a passion in their life.

Yup. That too. And they needed to see where he was at before the decision could be made.

Seravalli: Real hard to picture JJ Peterka in a Sabres uniform this fall

I forget the game, but near the end there was a report that Dahlin was screaming at JJ after a low effort led to an empty net goal. That was when I realized JJ wants out, and now. -
From what little info I bothered to pay attention to, it seems that Sha-na-na was willing and able to diagnose shortcomings with the Leafs and work to address them. I am thinking specifically of going out and getting a coach and a few players that seemed to address past failings. Did it work? I think an argument can be made either way. But he DID recognize and attack the issues. He brought in a coach that was going to address their weaknesses. Domi and Tanev were brought in. Those are substantial changes to address needs. Does anyone see KA doing that? I think Shanananananahan would bring instant credibility to the organization.

He was on an expiring contract. They needed to look at him to determine if it was worth another contract. It just so happens he made that decision for them.

Why does it have to hurt so much?

This is sounding like how I came to believe the Roy for Ott deal was too big a no brainer to not happen. It is so easy to rationalize a Byram for Andersson deal that it has to happen, right?

I love watching Dallas play. If I could pick a team for Buffalo to emulate, gimme sum Dallas.

Umm, Selke votes and he doesn’t play D?

Good luck getting this solved before fly fishing season is over. -

I am not sure that the Sabres forwards can hold off collapse until the post season starts. If one is inclined to point and laugh at the Leafs forwars for collapsing in the middle playoff rounds, how can you not look cross eyed at a Sabres forward group that couldn’t see this through the regular season? The forward group is skilled enough. It severely lacks guile, grit, and role players. This forward group is the most talented, least overall effective I can think of. It needs an enema just as the D and G do.

As a Sabres fan old enough to well remember the Sabres going 0 for the 80s in the playoffs, this laugh at the Leafs stuff is no class. I will swap the Leafs failures of the last decade over the Sabres failures of the last decade every time.- 75 replies

I’ve said it a bunch of times. Every player in this lineup is capable of being a good, contributing player on a good playoff team. But the roster sucks as built. I can speculate as to what I think it might be, but honestly, I am not sure. I just know that there is something significantly not right with this collection of good enough to be better than what they are players.

I seem to recall that Bennett was being labeled as a 3rd liner/ roll player when he left Calgary. Bust might be a strong term, but Id say it took Florida for him to really blossom.

Funny you say that. I’m pretty convinced its all related to fantasy sports. Go touch grass probably applies.

Yeah, I’m with Inky here. The population of fans watching so they can make lightning quick travel decisions isn’t fueling the schedule hype. Grown ass men with careers and family breaking down in fine detail the pros and cons of the schedules of teams outside of their rooting favorites for hours. This is well marketed hype that the drooling masses suck up like everything else the league does.
