How will you react to no offseason structure changes to FO/Coaching
Weave replied to JP51's topic in The Aud Club
My recollection is, Alex Tuch was much more direct in saying playoffs were the goal than KAs comments indicated. But I am old and feeble and my memory should not be trusted. -
Do you believe the Sabres will make the playoffs in 2026?

Ruff and Adams end-of-season press conference: Saturday, April 19, 4:30pm

At the 10 year mark of our era of futility I made the point that we have pissed away an entire athleteās generation. -
And its not like Girgs lumped up the guy that threw the hit. He grabbed arms with someone and then something happened in that wrestling match that pissed the two players off. Girgs wasnāt so much coming to the aid of a hurt teammate as much as he was engaging in the requisite group hug that usually ensues, and someone pissed on someone elseās cheerios and they both got mad at each other.

I have said it before. Nearly every player on this roster (this goes for last season too) is good enough to be a regular contributor on a playoff team. The talent is there. The team building and team management sucks. My bet is he signed with TB with the understanding that he might need to drop the gloves to keep his roster spot. I feel weird about it. Heās not that kind of player at all, and I am sure he is well outside his comfort zone doing it. Itās kind ofā¦ā¦.. sad, or disrespectful in a way, that a guy who isnāt that guy has decided to be that guy for one last paycheck. His choice, of course. But I donāt understand the animosity towards him doing it now when it was never the type of person he was back when he was young. Leopards and spots. I donāt think he changed his.

Other. As most of you already know, I hit the level of mostly apathy some years ago. I sort of pay attention to the goings on. I check social media to see how a game turned out. I watch youtube highlights when they win. There are a couple of youtube channels I subscribe to and watch for Sabres commentary. I watch a game when it is convenient to do so, which isnāt often considering I donāt subscribe to any services that carry the Sabres games. But that is the extent of my involvement. I canāt even engage in debates about this team anymore because I just canāt be bothered to put the effort into thinking about it all that much. This team needs to earn my interest, and I really donāt give a damn if they donāt try to earn it. Itās their loss, not mine. I really donāt see any difference in my outlook whether they keep that clown or send him away. Frankly, I am here more for the social media than this display of sports excrement. -
Bah. Itās pretty obvious that they didnāt want him fighting here. They didnāt want that here at all, really.

Yup. Way bigger risk to the Sabres staying in Buffalo than a change in ownership. If this becomes chronic, I would expect it resulting in a sale AND a move. Oh, what would I do with the social media vacuum? -
After that interview I said there is no way KA survives this. His most important job right now is recruitment. Publicly stating that your organization is uncompetitive and saying out loud why can only hurt his recruitment efforts. It also is an excuse in a business where there can be no excuses when it comes to winning. Just a wrong message all the way around. It is the worst bit of leading I have ever encountered. It should have resulted in a firing after the Montreal game.

I actually thought Kulich showed excellent awareness. He saw it coming and stopped skating and got his hands up to protect himself. Its the only reason he didnāt end up concussed on the play. His arms took the brunt of it and prevented him from hitting his head on the ice when he went down. Iām guessing it was a set play that Quinn didnāt recognize as a suicide pass in that situation. Kulich did have the awareness to give up the puck and protect himself. My take is āwell done kidā. Ive warmed up to Kulich considerably. Seems a potential keeper.

The Buffalo Sabres have officially been eliminated for the 14th season

There is no need for speculation regarding Ulmarkās contract situation here. He was very forthcoming about it in an interview that was thoroughly discussed here. After his father died he determined that he needed to make some changes in his life, including his employer. There was no stringing along. There was no offer KA could have made. Linus decided he needed to be elsewhere, and made good on it. -
I hate head colds.

Any of them. Preferably several. Incremental changes in many locations. A big change āhereā or āthereā isnāt really a fix. We need incremental changes in many spots, forward group equally included. Do what youāve always done and you'll get what youāve always gotten.

We just lost one of our VPs at work. 3 yrs younger than I am. Makes you think.
