  1. Cody needs to hang Gillis' words up on his bathroom mirror just in case he needs reminding he needs to make Gillis eat those words.
  2. CH's dad is obviOusly no wall flower but it has nothing to do with CH the player. I didn't see the question re: Cody trade but obviously Gillis wasn't in the mood to discuss the lack of offense he oils have provided the Nicks in the playoffs. All I know is of I'm CH I use Gillis' remarks as more fuel to show them they screwed up.
  3. I think it's a lot of things Bun Van hurt his early progress by not identifying jis back injury properly. Then he's not right and Vigneault says he has a bad camp and was trying to make excuses. Now they're trying to say they made him look good??? How, by playing him with a new linemate every night? By not givin him icetime ? I think he wanted to play and knew he had to wait awhile to do so and I think the relationship was skewed from the get go. So he got moved. But I think the Canucks are spinning it the way they want to. Funny but Hodgson took the high road and never said a word about why the trade went down. Gillis looks bad on this topic if you ask me. And I'm glad Hodgson is ours. The Canucks should have kept CH until the summer and then dealt him. They missed his offensive game against LA.
  4. Yea that could be problematic for Cody
  5. Gillis will never say he made a bad deal for Kassian. If Cody Hodgson believes in himself enough to want out of Vancouver, then this bodes well for the Sabres. I don't think it's arrogance but more so, confidence. He knew he was always a 3rd line guy for the foreseeable future and wanted to play a bigger role. He's got his chance so let's up he proves his worth for us. And the actual quotes are here.... Nowhere did he say "his issues".... http://www.theprovince.com/touch/sports/Canucks+Gillis+tight+lipped+about+Vancouver+future/6510093/story.html?rel=894638
  6. Thank goodness you don't make the moves in Buffalo. I think you need to give Hodgson a fair shake and not judge him on one month of hockey. Maybe Schenn would be a good player in Buffalo as he was a teammate of Myers in Kelowna. But maybe Hodgson is a decent top 6 forward that this team needs. We scored very little this year. I am not ready to give up on Hodgson yet. But I would take Schenn too but not for Hodgson. The Canucks would've been better off taking Schenn for Hodgson rather than the trade they made.
  7. Outstanding post! If the Canucks turned down Schenn for Cody and then turned it into Kass, then Gillis should be canned. I think the Sabres win this trade 100% and by a mile.
  8. The more I watch the Canucks vs LA it is very evident the Sabres shafted Vancity on this trade. Kassian doesn't get a chance to defend the stars because he barely plays and when he does, he can't engage anyone. The Canucks are really missing that offensive punch, which Hodgson could provide.
  9. Watching the first game of the NHL playoffs and the refs deciding they need to call an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for a snow shower on the goalie. Guys are out there finishing every check in the hardest tournament to win and the refs decide it's their time to shine too. I'm sorry but I don't know where this rule came from but that is all part of the gamesmanship that goes on. If you call snowshowering penalties, then why aren't you calling the retaliatory slash the goalie gives back across the opponents ankles? I think it's a joke and embarrassing that this call is/was made. And to boot, while shorthanded for this awful deed, the Canucks put the puck over the glass giving the Kings consecutive 2 man advantages. Refs - call penalties that affect the game. Don't make yourself out to be something more than you are. You don't win the Stanley Cup for being a ref. Don't spoil it for the fans and the teams. Making up calls is a disgrace and has no place in the game. This is the freakin Stanley Cup playoffs and snow showering should never, ever be a penalty. I'd rather see the spearing call made when Mike Richards shoves his stick into Luongo's upper chest. Please refs, please, call real penalties. And while I'm at it. Snow showering is 2 mins, just like the elbow that Sedin rec'd from Duncan Keith. How'd Daniel look last night? Oh wait, he's still out. Crazy.
  10. Draft beer with slushed margarita mixed in!!!!
  11. And the NHL gets it wrong. 5 games for Keith
  12. +1 In full agreement. The incidental high hits are less and less and if need be, suspendable for a few. But Keith told Sedin it was coming and he followed through on his promise. Honestly though, does anyone really think the NHL will get this right?
  13. Keith didn't expect a Sedin to hit him, better yet late and high. The fact he told Daniel it was coming and the force of the hit tells me it should be much longer than 5 games. The league is going backwards and the clutch and grab teams will win the Cup yet again. Its a joke. The things they call as opposed to what they let go is completely laughable. Daniel hit him high but that is nothing more than a two minute penalty. Keith should have gotten a match penalty for that deliberate attempt to injure.
  14. Keith was hit earlier in the period by Daniel. Daniel actually finished a check, and it was a little late and his shoulder caught his chin as well. Keith was choked and in reading the news today, Henrik said that Keith was letting the Canucks know he was gonna get 'em back. Then you read Keith's comments saying he had no idea who hit him before. Love the posturing by Keith. One thing about the Sedins is they are as honest as they come. I don't doubt Henrik's comments at all. If Keith doesn't get at least 5 for this blatant attempt to injure, then there is something seriously wrong. But again we are talking about the NHL here so I won't be surprised if it's nothing. The thing that angered me was how Keith, who isn't a fighter but plays big, wouldn't answer the bell. Bieksa lost his mind and wanted him bad, but no way was Keith gonna fight. This is what gets me upset. Shane Doan knew he chickenwinged Benn and knew he'd have to answer the bell, and he did. It sickens me when guys like Keith don't man up. I'm all for guys not fighting after clean checks, but dirty ones need to be answered to. Keith said to Kassian between the benches, something along the lines of, "you've made a helluva an impact since the trade" Kassian tried to get at Keith but he couldn't get near him. This game maybe a rallying point for Vancouver though. They've been awful and they basically spent the entire second period trying to get retribution (5 pps for Chi) and yet they still had a shot at a win. They proved that they won't be pushed around which is something they needed to do. The points mattered not. Unlike the Sabres who can't afford to retaliate at this time (not that they would)
  15. Duncan Keith just targeted the head of Daniel Sedin. Sedin went to the room. Looks like a targeted head hit. And it was a retaliation to Sedin hitting Keith up high minutes earlier. Sedin finished his check (I know right) and Keith didn't expect it. The shoulder slid up and looked like it met Keith on head and body simultaneously. http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/duncan-keith-elbow-head-daniel-sedin-worthy-shanaban-010635617.html The Canucks were after him in the 2nd but Keith wouldn't man up. Unlike Doan who answered his bad hit.
  16. It's too bad Hodgson has put up zeros since his arrival but it's to be expected. He's a rookie. He's played more than he probably figured he would this year and he's been all over the map these past 3 weeks. However, if the team hadn't blown it the other night, they'd be 7-2 with him in Buffalo. Kassian is doing nothing in Van. The team is 2-5 with him there. Sulzer has played well. Grags is sitting Sat night after posting zero pts and a minus 6. Cody will be a better player long term. I'm sure of it. People have to step off the ledge. Again, the team has done well with him and it's all about winning.
  17. Having a glass of Finca Los Primos Malbec and tacos.
  18. Mags is a group 6 FA. The Canucks want to get him into 12 games so they keep him an RFA. That way they only have to offer him 10% above his current salary(I believe) if he doesn't reach the 80 game mark he's unrestricted.
  19. I don't like Grags game. He's all over the ice but doesn't impress me. Sulzer is a solid Dman. And he's come closer to scoring (post). I'm telling you we got the better of this trade. I said this in another thread but Hodgson must be tired. The Canucks went out East for a roadie and CH was traded after they'd come back out West. Then back to Buf for a physical, back West. Now back East with no consecutive days off. Just sayin
  20. The Penticton Vees Junior A hockey team recently won their 41st consecutive game setting a North American record for consecutive wins without a loss. Penticton is a 55 min drive south from Kelowna http://www.tsn.ca/canadian_hockey/story/?id=389742
  21. nerve blocks befrore shoulder surgery are awesome (but only until they wear off - ouch today)
  22. All I know is Cody is plus 3 and has zero points, yet the team has 3 wins in a row since the deal. Kassian has 2 points in a loss, and the Nucks are 1-1-1 with him in the lineup. I'll take Cody's plus 3 and the 3 wins thank you very much. PS Cody is essentially on a 9 game road trip right now. He is probably a little tired.
  23. It'll be fun. What you think of this deal?
  24. I think the canucks will let him be himself more than Buffalo did. He won't be asked to play nice but play his game while in control and not hurting the team. Buffalo pussied him after his court date. I'm sure it will be made clear to him that he will be counted on to stand up for his mates in vancouver. In Buffalo he didn't even dress for the sabs/ b's rematch. That told me something on the sabres' front.
