  1. Or the girl could be lying? It happened in our family.
  2. The fun thing is you can imagine. We can either trade using our multiple first round picks or wait until that money comes available next year. The beautiful thing is it's almost a certainty that every question mark gets answered because we have real players developing, money and picks.
  3. Two stories - 1) gay girl disowned by her parents. 2) Donations vs NCAA eligibility
  4. It be weird if we did fire JBot for JQ and had 2 head coaches and no GM.
  5. First, I like the way Eichel is playing so my post is't meant to be negative. It seems to me Eichel had a great handle - I wouldn't necessarily say he could dangle but I always thought he had great keep away ability. However I always felt the long stick kept him too upright - especially with him being a tallish player. I was really hoping the smaller stick would only improve his puck handling and allow him to be slightly lower. The interesting thing for me is - I think his puck handling has suffered. I have no idea if it's related to the stick. I've also noticed that defenders are crowding him more - especially on the power play in that mid left hand spot. I'm curious about this. Another poster mentioned he's not finding those angles he had in the first couple seasons and getting off that elite wrist shot. I would have thought with a shorter stick - crowding him (getting closer) would be in Jack's benefit, but it hasn't. Anyone else notice this?
  6. I think saying there's a lack of effort is lazy. It's important to understand where we are as a team and then perspective can answer some questions. We're going to have many games where we struggle to play a sound 3 and sometimes 3+ periods of hockey. What I see in the slow starts is an inability to understand initially what to do on defense. Teams get off a substantial amount of excellent scoring chances in the 1st period. IMO, the most difficult thing for a team with new lines, young players and players that haven't played together much - is to come together defensively. When we settle in, you see a completely different team with the defense pushing the puck and not getting stuck being so far back defensively. By the way Hutton is even better than I thought he was. He's a legit goalie that can keep a struggling team defensively (at times) in games.
  7. I agree. He's having puck handling issues a lot this year.
  8. This is all interesting information but we also have a significant amount of cap space that would suggest new players. Obviously that would effect young players brought up and which RFA's and UFA's that are kept. IMO, we should not be bringing up so many youngsters every year. I don't think you win by Guhle, Pilut and Oloffson coming up next year. I think I see the vision. We're not used to this because it's how perennial winning teams remain contenders. You build a system with desirable talent. You use them to fill holes on your NHL club and use them to trade for established NHL players you identify that fill specific voids on your team year to year.
  9. Even though he's proven he's that type of player the last 3 years and 2 other years in his career?
  10. The reason for my "what'? was Skinner has proven to be more than Stafford was after his 2010-11 season. It's not the same scenario at all.
  11. They will try to sign him at any point and as N S mentioned they know what the contract generally looks like to get that done. Skinner however holds all the cards and likely wants to play long enough with the team to make sure he wants to spend the remainder of his prime in Buffalo. If at the end of that Skinner shows no interest, he'll be traded for something as similar to what we paid as possible to a playoff team.
  12. He should and likely will get a chance to spend the free agency money available in the next two years. He'll then have a decision to make on whether Housley is the coach to lead the team he built. We'll have a clear picture of what we are 2 years from now as it should be the finished product of what we'll be at the NHL level. That coupled with what the pipeline looks like will dictate if he gets an extension.
  13. I wouldn't mind seeing Housley gone. The roster is still incomplete but in 2 years we'll have the team we'll have. I don't see a satisfactory game plan from Housley that is clear the players aren't or aren't good enough to execute. Because of that - I don't want his system anymore.
  14. It's amazing how teams attack the player with the puck when we are on the power play with no fear of us getting the puck to the open side. And we don't.
