That spreadsheet has too much data and, from your screenshot, there’s no way to tell how it’s sorted.  Really, the best info to evaluate is Save%.   I sorted it on Save% of Shots on Goal.  No, Murray is not among the top goalies with a Save% of .890 but it’s a lot better than Dell’s .862.

Next best stat is Goals Against Average, which doesn’t take into account the number of shots faced or the quality of shots faced.  Murray’s GAA is 3.26, worlds better than Dell’s 4.56.

Likewise, Tokarski recently had back-to-back games where he faced 40+ shots. His GAA of 3.05 is very good considering the number of shots he faces.

Great feature on who he is and where he comes from:

Consider the Krebses in full pursuit:

Maddison, 22, is making a living as a singer-songwriter. She settled in Nashville at the age of 19.

Dakota, 20, returns to the WHL for a fifth season in the fall. He left home at 16 when he cracked the lineup of the Tri-City Americans. He now skates for the Calgary Hitmen.
Peyton, 18, star of the WHL Kootenay Ice, is a sure-fire first-rounder in the NHL draft. By 15, he was billeting in Strathmore, Alta., and playing for the midgets there.
Dru, 16, a second-round selection at the 2018 WHL bantam draft, is bound this winter for the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Asked about their remarkably high-reaching offspring, Greg shrugs — and Cindy leaves the table, ostensibly to fetch water.

“I mean, we get lots of comments from friends and people we meet,” Greg said. “It’s pretty cool. I don’t know. We always say we found what the kids are passionate about. That’s all we did. I guess they just found their thing. Lots of kids try lots of different things and don’t find that thing.”

    ***

Dru, aiming to catch on with the Tigers, is next. Three lads, three WHL outposts.

“Some families want their kids to play together on certain junior teams,” Greg said. “We said, ‘No, you go on your own path. It’ll make you better.'”

    Cindy agrees. Embrace adversity.

“Rather than hiding them from it and protecting them,” she said. “That’s a common theme now, ‘Oh, I don’t want (my child) to get cut.’ No, no. It’s OK to be cut. Then it’s how you respond. That’s what makes the difference.”

If the environment seems decidedly coddle-free, note that it also comes without pressure. Even if outsiders conclude that Greg and Cindy are whip-crackers.

    Not true.

“It’s driven by you, personally,” Dakota said. “Our mom and dad aren’t going to make us stickhandle in the garage. Or make Maddison go sing. We have personal goals … our parents just support us and love us the way they do.”

    What about Maynard G. ?

OK, I'll bite since the rest of yous are being argumentative.

4-7 years.  He'll have 3-4 instances over the next 4 seasons where he misses time due to the neck injury and after the 3rd, 4th one he won't pass a team physical.

    You never know.

IIRC Mario Lemieux was possibly on track to challenge Gretzky’s records but had so many health issues.  He had Hodgkin lymphoma, spinal disc herniation  and chronic back issues. Still he kept making comebacks and at the time of his final retirement ranked 7th in career points.

Kyle always pushed hard and gave his best.

I can see that at his age and what he went through health wise he could be a real inspiration for the team.  Especially the young guys.

Can't see how he doesn't wear the C next year.

I guess I missed it.  So, are they going with just Okposo and Girgenson as Alernate Captains this season, without a named captain?

The deal will involve conditional picks that seems to be the possible answer. When that happens it'll be weird to be rooting for his full recovery and success so that we can get more. I also suspect it'll be nothing but picks. Maybe one current high end prospect, but really nothing but picks unless a cap dump is needed.

How about an injured Eichel for an injured Byfield plus a couple picks?  That sounds fair at this point.

No, Levi is already at college.

    So, it’s like this:

Owen Power, you’ve just been selected first in the draft by the Buffalo Sabres.  What do you have to say? “I’m going to college.”

Devon Levi, you’ve just been traded to the Buffalo Sabres.  What do you have to say?  “I’m going to college.”

Will we have a player quit in the middle of the season to go to college instead?

  7. I was just looking at the goalie rankings on Yahoo for our Sabrespace Fantasy League.  No Buffalo goalie is ranked in the Top 100.  The first goalie listed is Mat Robson at 122.  LOL!   Man, this is going to be along season for Sabres fans!

Hey, SDS/Derrico, we should have a penalty for the first team to draft a Sabre.  Maybe give them the worst waiver priority to start the season?

The proverbial dirty laundry is already hanging outside for everyone to see. This is one saga that not only isn't hidden but can't be hidden. So being discrete at this point is futile. KA is open and transparent where he is at on this situation. That's the right approach to take. He is not going to get involved in a tit for tat public spat. He clearly said where he is at and where the other party is. Part of the job for any GM is to answer tough questions relating to players and situations. His answer is clear without much need for additional elaboration. In my judgment he is handling it well.

They’ve wet the bed and the stained sheets are hanging out, flapping in the wind for all to see.

I believe he was on the great Bruins teams of the late 1960's to the early 1970's.

Bought a few things from him over the years.  Nice guy.

He was also part of an awesome power play for the Sabres in the mid-70s.  It was the French Connection, Jerry Korab and Stanfield IIRC.  They were often like bing-bang-boom-goal.

It's been so long since anyone has actually posted a rumor or speculation about trading Eichel.  At this point maybe this megathread should be shut down.  Nothing's happening until something happens and then it will be a new thread.

That sounds like a Yogi Berra quote: “Nothing’s happening until something happens.”

There is nothing wrong with Adams talking to GMs, in general or about Eichel (a player that has wanted to leave since Botterill was fired, maybe sooner), or about anyone else.   Adams is GM of a last place team.  No player is sacred.

If someone called Beane about Allen, Beane would indeed laugh about it, then he would politely move the conversation.  He could ask him about his wife and family, his golf game, ask about the upcoming NFL meetings, maybe even talk about other players …. Beene would talk to an NFL peer.  Brandon Beane is a highly polished professional.  Adams needs to do establish himself so he has to engage in conversations with his peers.

Let’s be clear, Eichel is not Allen.  Not on the field, and not off the field.  Eichel is just not at Allen’s level.

Allen is an elite talent at the single most critical position in any sport.  The Bills are on the cusp of a championship and Allen is the single most important player on the team.   Eichel is a very good player, a top 10 center with potential to maybe be a top 4 or 5 center.

Allen makes his team better.   Eichel has not achieved that.

Allen is a true leader and is loved by his teammates and coaches.  Eichel is friends with some of his teammates.

The only real similarity is that Eichel works very hard at his craft, just like Allen.

I sure would like to sit down with Ryan O’Reilly and get his take on what was going on when he was in Buffalo.
